00:00aiden first off your reaction uh it was uh i've been dreaming about this day for a long time when
00:09you've invested so much of yourself into one particular story and you know it's coming to an
00:13end and i i knew this day was going to come eventually and you know a lot swings on it if
00:18if you hear the word if you don't hear the word not before guilty it's it's just a horrible
00:23depressing feeling and i've thought about that too but i've thought about how good it would feel
00:28what it if i heard the words not guilty and i heard them three times and it was just overjoyed with
00:33uh emotions and happiness for the reid family and for her lawyers there are lots of cases uh in america
00:40what what drew you not only to this case but to become so passionate and involved in it well it's
00:50a local story so i'm from uh worcester massachusetts about an hour west of boston and i write a lot
00:55about a you know uh stories involving corruption in new england i've broken a lot of major stories
01:00i've been doing it for about 11 years i used to be a high school teacher i quit my job to do this
01:04and uh this one when it first happened in february of or january of 2022 uh you know i looked into it
01:11at first i saw a boston police officer killed that always gets your attention but then i saw it was the
01:16girlfriend who accidentally did it and it just seemed like a horrible accident and so i really didn't have
01:21like a take on it it's it honestly seemed like an open and shut case they claimed there was ring
01:25camera video of it i mean what was i even going to say about that and i i honestly forgot the name
01:30karen reed and then 15 months later i read this thing about a google search that appeared in a
01:35court filing uh that somebody in the house had made uh at 227 for how long to die in cold and that kind
01:42of led me down the rabbit hole where i started reading all the court filings and i saw the plethora
01:48of evidence showing that not only was karen reed under undeniably innocent of this but it appeared
01:54as if john o'keefe went inside brian albert's house was beaten up killed and then left on the lawn
02:01to make it look like karen or someone else had done it so uh when i when i first read about it i said
02:07holy crap i'm sitting on the story of the of the century here you were with karen reed at mastro's
02:13last night for this big celebratory dinner take us inside the room what was that like what was she
02:18saying uh it was amazing in there uh just being uh karen and reed and i have had you know a relationship
02:25where you know they've come after both of us and i've you know been charged myself and and done 60
02:30days over this um and and they've tried to link my journalism has been so successful at getting this
02:37this out that they've reframed it as uh witness intimidation and they're trying to link karen to
02:43me so and they tried to indict her last march on conspiracy to commit witness intimidation charges
02:49because she was friends with me they took both of our phones they so they saw how much time we spoke
02:54on the phone together so we've had to lay low about our you know partnership and working in this uh so
02:59it was really good last night to be able to go there to take that picture with her which colin albert
03:04had previously posted a very similar picture like that and we we had said years ago that when we when
03:10she's acquitted we're going to post this picture right here with the same caption that colin albert
03:14used but being in that room with karen's parents with her uh team of paralegals who are amazing people
03:20from bc and harvard and her four very talented attorneys uh was an honor and it was a privilege to
03:26be in there and it was just felt like we were celebrating this this thing that we all worked on
03:31together to get justice speaking of partnership are you working on a movie with her i don't know
03:36if karen is going to be involved in that but i have signed a deal with uh compelling pictures
03:40they've been doing a documentary uh they've been following me around it's kind of like
03:44the camera recase through the eyes of turtle boy how we started this you know reporting on this and
03:49kind of blew it up into a phenomenon um and then we're going to be doing a movie after that uh if karen
03:55wants to get involved her and i haven't had time to talk about anything about this so we're going to
03:59have to have conversations moving forward about you know what she wants to do what i want to do
04:03uh but as of right now you know it hasn't even been 24 hours so i would imagine her phone's blowing
04:09up obviously i haven't had time to return many messages on my phone uh so i can just imagine what
04:14what it's like for her
04:15what it's like for her
04:15what it's like for her
