00:00Accused death cat mushroom killer Erin Patterson takes the stand for the fourth day as she faces
00:06a murder trial in Morwell, Gippsland. Cross-examination is set to start on June 5 after
00:12Defence Barrister Colin Mandy spent three days questioning Ms Patterson. So far the court has
00:17heard about her tricky relationship with Simon, her estranged husband, her bond with his parents,
00:23her passion for mushroom foraging and preservation, as well as accounts of her lifelong struggle with
00:29disordered eating. Yesterday Ms Patterson told the court that she invited her in-laws to the
00:35fateful lunch because she was worried about a growing distance between them. She said she had
00:40plans to undergo gastric bypass surgery but lied to her in-laws saying that she was being treated for
00:46cancer. Ms Patterson has been charged with three counts of murder over the deaths of Heather
00:51Wilkinson, Gail Patterson and Don Patterson in August 2023 and one count of attempted murder in relation
00:58to Corumburra Pastor Ian Wilkinson. We'll bring you all the latest from the sixth week of the trial.
