00:00Iran launched a new barrage of at least 25 missiles against the strategic Israeli targets
00:13in the occupied Palestinian territories.
00:19The Palestinian Authority reported nearly 70 fatalities and over 200 injuries in the
00:24last 24 hours following Israeli troops bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
00:31The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda have signed a draft provisional agreement aimed
00:36at ending fighting in the eastern region which is expected to be formally closed on June 27.
00:47Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:52We begin with the news.
01:08A new barrage of Iranian missiles struck several Israeli cities on Thursday morning.
01:14Various media outlets report that Iran has launched a barrage of at least 25 missiles against Israeli
01:19targets in the occupied Palestinian territories, making it one of the most powerful Iranian
01:24retaliatory attacks since June 13.
01:27Silence sounded in Tel Aviv, ordering the population to flee to shelters.
01:31Despite censorship by the Israeli regime, images on social media showed the failure of the air
01:37defense systems, also known as the Iron Dam.
01:41According to Israeli media, at least 60 people have been injured and direct hits have been reported
01:47against targets in the cities of Tel Aviv, Ramadgan, Olon and Beersheba.
01:57In this context, the Inanese agency reported that one of the strikes targeted the command and
02:03intelligence headquarters of the Israeli occupation forces and Gavgem Advanced Technology Park in the
02:09city of Beersheba.
02:11They also specified that the centers attacked thousands of military personnel and include
02:17the digital command, cyber operations and surveillance and recognizing systems used by
02:23Zionist troops in their genocidal campaign against the Gaza Strip.
02:27In this regard, they reported that the Sorokia Hospital in the same locality was affected by the
02:32shock wave and suffered minor damage.
02:35On the other hand, the stock exchange building in Ramadgan, Israel's economic center located east of
02:42Tel Aviv, was also targeted.
02:49The Iranian government accused Israel of deploying ineffective defense systems in urban areas in
02:55order to target civilians and justify increased aggressions.
02:59The Islamic Revolutionary Guard denounced Israel for turning its territory into military barracks,
03:04generating a state of desperation and fear among the civilian population.
03:09Regarding this issue, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz points the finger at Iran
03:14for attacks on hospitals and residential buildings in order to create responsibility.
03:19The Iranian authorities claimed that the target was the command and intelligence
03:24headquarters of the Zionist forces next to the army intelligence camp in the Gavgem Technology Park
03:30near the medical center.
03:38In this context, let us recall that last Monday, Israel directly bombed the Farabi hospital in the
03:44city of Kermanshah, western Iran. The attack caused significant damage and much of the medical equipment was
03:51rendered useless. In addition, the explosion broke windows and injured several patients hospitalizing the
03:57affected areas. The intensive care unit was one of the most damaged and structural damage to the building
04:04was also reported.
04:12On the other hand, since the start of Israel's genocidal campaign against the Palestinian population,
04:18hospitals in Gaza have been systematically destroyed causing the collapse of the healthcare system.
04:24The World Health Organization reported that only 19 of the 36 hospitals in Gaza continue to function
04:30at least partially, while 94% of them have suffered serious damage or have been completely destroyed.
04:37In addition, around 1,500 humanitarian workers have been killed by the occupation army.
04:43Following international outcry for the recent Iranian strikes on Israeli strategic facilities,
04:55Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced the double standards
05:00in the treatment of the Iran-Israel conflict. In this regard, through a post on his social media
05:06ex, Rodriguez stressed, where are those who claim that there is never any justification for one state
05:13to launch a preemptive attack on another? The Cuban diplomat then finished by asking,
05:19are there then good and bad preemptive attacks? Double standards or complicity with the aggressors?
05:26Once again, media outlets aligned with international Zionism have tried to manipulate reality by
05:40claiming that Iranian helicopter gunships were attacked in Kermansha province. However, available images
05:47and evidence show that the target of the alleged attack was a replica. There is no record of secondary
05:53explosions that would confirm the version disseminated by these sources. Therein and armed forces have
05:59reiterated that their strategic equipment is under maximum security. Likewise, the Islamic Republic
06:06has assured that it will respond firmly to any act of aggression by the Zionists.
06:16In this scenario, Russia and China condemn Israel's actions against Iran, denouncing them as a
06:22violation of international law. As reported by Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, Russian President Vladimir Putin
06:29and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping held a telephone call on Thursday where they strongly
06:34condemned Israel's actions which violate the United Nations Charter and other norms of international law.
06:41Furthermore, Putin and Xi agreed to de-escalation and was needed in the ongoing conflict as the Russian
06:47president reportedly confirmed Moscow's willingness to act as a mediator for talks between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
06:54Both leaders agreed that a solution to the conflict must be achieved through political and diplomatic means
07:00instead of military.
07:06In this context, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned the United States against military
07:12intervention in the Iran-Israel conflict, alerting of its negative consequences.
07:19We will continue to support the goals of a settlement on the Iranian nuclear program,
07:24with due reliance on international law, the principle of equal and indivisible security,
07:29as well as mutual consideration. We would like to particularly warn Washington against military
07:34intervention in the situation, which would be an extremely dangerous step with truly unpredictable negative
07:40consequence. For his part, the Chinese foreign ministry urged countries with major influence
07:46to create conditions for ceasing hostilities and resuming dialogue in the Middle East.
07:54The situation in the Middle East is tense and delicate and facing the risk of getting out of control.
07:59China opposes any move that violates the purposes and principles of the uncharter and a country's
08:04sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, and opposes using or threatening to use force in
08:09international relations. The international community, major countries with influence in particular,
08:14needs to maintain a fair position and responsible attitude. Create conditions for reaching a ceasefire
08:20and returning to dialogue and negotiation, and prevent the situation from sliding into abyss and
08:25triggering an even larger disaster.

08:51Welcome back to From the South. The Palestinian Authority reported nearly 70 fatalities and over 200
09:14injuries in the last 24 hours following Israeli troops' bombardment of the Kasa Strip. The Palestinian
09:20Health Ministry reported that 12 civilians, including three children, were killed in an attack on tents
09:25housing displaced people in the Al Shati refuge camp. Three more were killed by an Israeli bombardment
09:32on a street in Al Hala, west of Gaza. Israel's ongoing genocide has left more than 55,000 victims,
09:39despite calls from the international community for an immediate ceasefire.
09:43Also in Palestine, soldiers occupying the area opened fires and crowds seeking humanitarian aid,
09:54killing 10 civilians. Sionist forces fire machine guns and drones at Palestinians,
10:00seeking food aid near Netzarim, leaving at least 60 people wounded. The enclave has been experiencing a
10:07catastrophic humanitarian crisis since the Zionist regime closed all crossings and denied entry of food,
10:14medicine, humanitarian aid, and fuel into the strip.
10:23The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda have signed a draft provisional agreement aimed at ending
10:29fighting in the eastern region, which is expected to be formally closed on June 27th. According to a
10:35joint statement issued late on Wednesday from the two countries and the United States Department of State,
10:41the development came after three days of constructive dialogue regarding political security and economic
10:47interests. The draft agreement contains provisions on issues including disarmament, the integration of
10:54non-state armed groups, and the return of refugees and internally displaced people. The Congolese armed forces
11:01have repeatedly accused Rwanda of backing M23 rebels in a decades-long that escalated in January when the
11:09rebels advanced and seized the strategic city of Goma, followed by the town of Bukavu in February. The
11:16conflict has created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises and has displaced more than 7 million people.
11:31The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed on Thursday the latest prisoner swap with Ukraine as part of a deal
11:44reached earlier in June at peace negotiations in Istanbul, Turkey. According to the authority,
11:49the group of Russian servicemen was returned from the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime
11:55in exchange for a group of Ukrainian armed forces soldiers. The Malaysia men are currently
12:01on Belarusian territory, where they are reportedly being provided with the necessary medical and
12:06psychological assistance. In addition, the Russian Nations Defense Ministry informed that the servicemen
12:12will be soon transported to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation at the institution's medical facilities.
12:19At a briefing with international news agencies on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed
12:31its readiness to continue negotiations with Ukraine, noting that the previous round of talks had paved the
12:38way for the current exchange of prisoners. We don't care who leads the negotiations,
12:47even if it's the current head of the regime. I'm even ready to meet, but only if it's some kind of final
12:54stage, so that we are not sitting there endlessly dividing something, but putting a full stop.
13:00There must be a signature of a legitimate authority. We are ready to continue these negotiations. Right now,
13:12on the humanitarian track, the situation overall is such that these negotiations make sense.
13:19We have already agreed to exchange 1,200 prisoners. We are bringing back people, that's good. We have
13:25already handed over 500 people and received 400 back. I believe that everything will be fair here. We
13:31will get everyone we are supposed to get. The 28th edition of the International Economic Forum in St.
13:39Petersburg, Russia continues on its second day with the presence of at least 140 countries and the
13:46attendance of more than 20,000 people. On June 19th, a number of activities will be held, including an
13:52important meeting of university representatives from around the world, who will discuss a new teaching
13:58model, the progress of technology in service to society, and Russia's role in the era of trade wars
14:05will also be discussed. These activities will continue until June 21st and are centered around the theme
14:12shared values, the basis for growth in a multipolar world, officially in Bahrain as the guest country.
14:22President Xi Jinping urged the advancement of the construction of a community with Central
14:31Asian countries and the promotion of trade cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative.
14:36In his opening speech at the second China-Central Asia Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan,
14:42the President emphasized the strengthening of ties of friendship and cooperation among Asian nations.
14:48He emphasized that the six-member countries seek to promote modernization through high-quality
14:54win-win collaborations based on mutual respect and mutual benefit. He announced that China and Central
15:00Asian countries would sign a treaty of good neighborliness and permanent friendly cooperation
15:06to promote security and stability in the region.

15:39Welcome back to From the South. The Council of State in Colombia suspended the decree calling for a
15:45national popular consultation on labor and social rights. The decision was made as part of processing
15:51a nullity action filed against the presidential decree. Through this decree, 12 questions reflecting the
15:57spirit of labor and health reforms were to be brought to the polls. While the decision does not
16:02definitively prohibit the consultation, it does paralyze any institutional progress derived from
16:09the suspended decree for the time being. President Gustavo Petro said the Senate's board of directors
16:15could use the provisional suspension of the decree to stop the conciliation process of the labor reform,
16:21which establishes new rights. The president of Panama, José Raúl Molino, assured that he will not
16:35repeal the law on social security. In spite of the intense demonstrations that have spread throughout
16:41Panama for almost two months, President Molino affirmed that he will not repeal law 462 on the social
16:48security fund, assuring that it is a national achievement. During his statement, the head of
16:54state warned that it is a waste of time to insist on repelling the law and rule out a revision of the
17:00pension law. Meanwhile, social sectors and labor unions remain in the streets demanding that the
17:06major be vetoed in spite of government repression and the recent arrest of working-class leaders.
17:12In Guatemala, riot police from the National Civil Police violently repressed a peaceful protest against
17:24mining licenses in the Santa Cruz mountain range with tear gas, leaving one person seriously injured.
17:30The victim, who is in serious condition, is the son of community journalist Raimundo Amador. The incident
17:36occurred in front of the Rio Rulsa deputy major's office where neighbors had gathered to express their
17:42opposition to authorized mining projects. Human rights organizations have demanded an immediate
17:48investigation as well as guarantees for the exercise of social protest and freedom of the press.
17:59Also in the United States, a vigil was held on the steps of the Minnesota Capitol in
18:04St. Paul in homage to Melissa Hottman, former Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives,
18:10and Mark Hottman, her husband. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and his wife,
18:15Gwen Walz, attended the vigil and joined followers holding candles and laying flowers at a makeshift
18:22memorial. Alumni of the University of Minnesota organized a memorial event at noon on the Minneapolis
18:30campus campus with the purpose of providing a place where the shared grief could be recognized.
18:35On Saturday night, both the congresswoman and her husband were murdered in their home by an
18:42individual who impersonated a police officer in the city of Brooklyn center in Minneapolis.
18:47The Space X Starship 36 suffered a major explosion during a flight test in the U.S. state of Texas.
19:00The 123-meter rocket left off from the dawn but lost connection with the command center minutes into the
19:10test flight. The spacecraft reached an altitude of nearly 150 kilometers before experiencing issues.
19:18With the support of large metallic arms, the first stage of the rocket was recovered on the pad.
19:24However, the upper engines were disabled as the rocket headed east where a regulated
19:29incursion into the Indian Ocean was anticipated. The location of the wreckage is currently unknown,
19:35though images from full order show falling debris in flames near Cape Canaveral.
19:51In Mexico, Hurricane Eric made landfall in the state of Oaxaca on Thursday as a category 3 storm
20:07on the Saffer-Simpson scale, triggering heavy rains and floods. The storm hit the municipality of
20:13Pino Teba National at 5.30 a.m. local time with maximum sustained wind guards of 205 kilometers per hour,
20:22leaving extensive material damage, road closures and flooding in at least 14 municipalities of the state.
20:29As consequence, high waves are being reported in Pino Condido while in Huatulco authorities
20:35informed water has entered homes and hospitals. Despite the magnitude of the phenomenon, authorities
20:41have yet to confirm any fatalities, but one person was injured by a falling fan. In this context,
20:48Mexican President Claudia Sherman announced the suspension of all activities,
20:53encouraging citizens to take shelter and stay informed.
20:56All activities have been absolutely suspended. The recommendations are to take shelter in your
21:09homes, not to go out, and to stay together as a family. If you live near rivers or in low-lying areas,
21:15move to the shelters. Stay together and stay informed through official channels. The Defense Plan and the Navy Plan
21:23are underway, as well as the Federal Electricity Commission. There is a lot of coordination between
21:29federal, state and municipal institutions.
