Teesside students had one of the highest success rates for getting into their first choice school.
Transcript
00:00In Teesside, parents benefited from some of the highest first-choice success rates in the country.
00:07Across the northeast region, more than 90% of applicants got the school place they wanted most,
00:12and over 97% were offered one of their preferences.
00:16That puts the area well ahead of regions like the West Midlands and both inner and outer London,
00:22where competition is much more intense.
00:25In Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar, strong local coordination and planning appear to have supported families through the process.
00:33But the data also highlights how access to your preferred school is still shaped heavily by where you live.
00:40In a national system with significant variation between regions, Teesside is currently one of the most favourable places to apply for a school place.
00:48While challenges remain in a few oversubscribed schools, the overall outlook for local families is positive.
00:54At a time when many are struggling to get their top pick, Teesside is bucking the trend.
