00:00So we're investing £63 million in improving the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
00:06So we know that if people don't have a driveway, they're often thinking if I want to get an EV,
00:12how do I get the cable from my house into the car?
00:15So we're allocating £25 million to go to local councils so that they can support their residents
00:20with installing something called a pavement gully so that safely you can run the cable across the pavement.
00:28It's a little indentation in the pavement and it makes it safer then for you to charge your car
00:33and people to be able to continue to use the pavements.
00:36We're also investing £30 million in upgrading the charging infrastructure at depots
00:41so that freight and logistics firms can accelerate their transition to electric vehicles.
00:47And we're also putting charging infrastructure in NHS sites, in hospitals, ambulance depots
00:54so that we can electrify the NHS fleet as well.
00:59So it's benefiting consumers, drivers, the public sector and businesses.
01:04I am aware that alongside the availability of charge points,
01:08the other thing that people are often wary of when they're considering making this switch
01:12is the upfront cost of buying an EV.
01:16And so we're going to be saying more in the coming days
01:18about what we're going to do to make it cheaper for people to buy an EV.
