00:00I think West Streeting and the Labour government are the worst negotiators in history.
00:04When they were elected a year ago, they threw enormous amounts of money,
00:08taxpayers' money, at their trade union paymasters,
00:11including, I think, a 22% increase in one single year for doctors.
00:16They didn't get any performance improvements in return for all of this extra money,
00:20and here we are a year later with strikes on the cards.
00:24They have done a terrible job.
00:25Labour have done a terrible job negotiating,
00:27and patients and the public are going to suffer,
00:30and taxpayers are quite literally going to pay the price with higher taxes.
00:34Labour has thrown money at public sector unions, not just in the NHS,
00:38but the train drivers and across the whole public sector,
00:40without getting any sort of performance improvement or reforms in return for that,
00:46not even getting a guarantee of no strike action for a few years.
00:49That was all a catastrophic mistake.
00:51Labour are also removing all of the Margaret Thatcher-era trade union legislation,
00:56and more recent legislation, making it harder to go on strike,
01:00so Labour are also writing a striker's charter,
01:03which means I'm afraid we're going to see more strikes in the future,
01:06and we're certainly going to see higher taxes,
01:09even more higher taxes, announced this autumn,
01:11on top of the higher taxes we've seen already,
01:13because of Labour's failings.
