Chris O'Donnell interviewed by Entertainment Tonight about Batman Forever
Transcript
00:00Going up in the sky around the country on the 4th, but the fireworks are all indoors and up on the screen in Batman Forever.
00:06Bob Gowen discovered that this time out, the Caped Crusader gets a helping hand from the new kid on Batman's block.
00:24I need a name. Batboy, Nightwing. I don't know, what do you think? What's a good sidekick name?
00:29How about Dick Grayson college students?
00:32I just saved your life.
00:33Chris O'Donnell is the brash young superhero Robin in Batman Forever.
00:38Chris had a lot of action to do in the film, or at least pretend to do.
00:41It was funny because we kind of had Team Robin. I had about four or five different stunt guys.
00:45And, you know, they all specialized in, you know, someone was good at gymnastics, someone was good at traditional stunt work,
00:52someone was good at martial arts and the flying trapeze, and I just kind of did the movie star close-ups and stuff, you know.
00:58Who the hell are you?
01:00I'm Batman.
01:03The shoot was a particularly rough one for this boy wonder because he was studying for final exams while the movie was being made.
01:10I went to college, took night school during the fall semester.
01:14Did you really?
01:14Yeah, while we were doing this, so I didn't think it would be that big of a deal until we got to Christmas time,
01:19and all of a sudden my work schedule got very, very busy, and all of a sudden I had finals coming up,
01:25so I'm, you know, sitting in my trailer writing papers and in my Robin suit.
01:29That wasn't the best thing.
01:30That's a nice image.
01:31Really, you're taking finals, you're, are you, uh...
01:34I finished, I graduated.
01:36No kidding, congratulations, we're very proud of you.
01:38I look smarter.
01:39You do, you do, you've become kind of a renaissance man.
01:42You know, I'm still accepting graduation gifts, and...
01:44Are you really?
01:45And if they're interested, uh...
01:47Chris's biggest graduation gift is the rush of attention for Batman Forever.
01:51Are you seeing your life change, though?
01:53It's got to be palatable.
01:53It's been a little weird, yeah, lately, the last couple months,
01:56because all of a sudden I'm getting, uh, recognized by more and more people,
01:59and that's, uh, it's really a strange feeling.
02:01A good thing, or...
02:02No.
02:03It's not, huh?
02:03I don't like it, I mean, I don't like the attention that you get from, from that.
02:07Um, it's, it's, it's, it's all right.
02:10I mean, I, I'm happy to talk to people if they're, if, you know, when they're big fans
02:13and they have nice things to say, that's great, but when you, when you want to be alone
02:16and you're just trying to enjoy yourself, and all of a sudden you can't, you know, get away from it,
02:20that can be annoying.
02:22Sorry, Chris, but there is just going to be more and more of that in your future.
02:26Bob Gowen, Entertainment Tonight.
02:27You forgot the part where you kissed the girl.
02:32Thanks, Bob.
02:33You heard Chris O'Donnell say he graduated from college.
02:35It turns out he received his degree in marketing, so this should make him happy.
02:39A marketing man's dream come true, his very own action figure.
02:43You know, I thought your son Sean would like these, so I brought these in.
02:47We are definitely beyond Barney at our house, so this is it.
02:49But you know what, I heard that you and John Tesh had your own action figures.
02:52From many years ago.
02:54Where can I buy those?
02:55You can't buy them, luckily.
02:56Alright.
02:56You
