00:00The Bat's latest adventure on the Mega Drive is basically a side-scrolling beat-em-up,
00:06and you can be Batman or Robin.
00:08The game has some really good graphical touches, like this scrolling Mad Hatter stage.
00:14But beware, it's very hard, and some of the 15 stages are very long.
00:19In a way, this is a good thing, because it prolongs the life of the game,
00:22but because there's no password system, it can get frustrating.
00:25If you're up to the challenge of Batman and Robin, then it's worth battling it out,
00:32but you do have to be a gaming superhero to beat this one.
00:39If the popularity of a film determines how well a game will do,
00:43then Batman Forever is on to a winner.
00:45Due to September, the game uses real actors filmed against a green screen
00:57to make the game look as realistic as possible.
01:00Obviously, because it's not finished yet, we can't tell you how good it is,
01:12but judging by these screenshots, it's going to be one of the better film licences.
01:16Let's see what an expert thinks.
01:19I think it's good, actually.
01:20It's a lot more imaginative than most film titles are.
01:23Usually, you'll get a games company that'll spend so much actually getting the licence
01:27that they won't actually produce a good game, but this game's all right, I say.
01:30It's quite cool.
01:31If playing the game is too energetic for you,
01:33you can find out all about Batman Forever the film
01:36at the push of a button on the internet.
01:40From the menu, just choose the bit you're interested in,
01:43from movie sales to biographies of the stars.
01:47You can even listen to the soundtrack on Radio Gotham.
01:50Or watch a video clip, but it takes so long to download one,
01:59it's probably not worth it.
02:02Listen up, because we've got prizes any superhero will be proud of
02:05in this week's Movies, Games and Videos competition.

03:01and all the winners will be selected at random.
03:04We'll put up the question and number again
03:06at the end of today's show.
03:07Good luck.
03:12We're off to the Batcave again,
03:13but this time for some videos to buy
03:15that'll leave you in no doubt
03:17that the Caped Crusader is here to stay.
03:20First on the scene of the crime is Batman the movie.
03:23No, this one doesn't star Michael Keaton or Val Kilmer,
03:26but instead it was Adam West
03:27who donned his tights in the film of the original 60s TV series.
03:31And even then, the Riddler was causing Batman
03:33to run to his cave and seek Robin's help.
03:37Batman, listen to these Riddlers.
03:49Tell me if you interpret them as I do.
03:51One, what has yellow skin and rights?
03:54A ballpoint banana.
03:56Right.
03:56Two, what people are always in a hurry?
04:00Russian people?
04:02Russians!
04:03Right again.
04:04Bringing things more up-to-date,
04:06Batfeatures gets animated in Batman Mask of the Phantasm.
04:10He also seems to be getting meaner and moodier.
04:12Must be the pressure of being a superhero in the 90s.
04:15You think you know everything about me, don't you?
04:18I dive at your bottom.
04:21Well, you're wrong.
04:23Jack Nicholson turns nasty as the dastardly Joker
04:36and Michael Keaton gets into rubber
04:38to play the caped Avenger
04:40who always drops in to rescue a damsel in distress.
04:42Michael Keaton returns as Batman
05:04and finds himself up against a pint-sized penguin
05:07and a curvaceous catwoman
05:08in the last of our batty videos to buy.
05:10You missed.
05:29Wow.
05:42The Batman.
05:45Or is it just Batman?
05:50Uh, your choice, of course.
05:53Well, that was very brief.
05:58Well, it was brief for Michael Keaton
06:00because a younger man has taken on the job
06:02of the Dark Knight in this week's big new movie.
06:14Val Kilmer is the brand new Batman
06:16and he's got a new suit, a new car
06:19and a bunch of new enemies to prove it.
06:21Let's see if this Batman is forever.
06:34I won't send you a riddle.
06:36The Riddler.
06:37I will help you solve the greatest riddle of all.
06:42Who is Batman?
06:45I'm a director that believes 90% of directing is casting
06:49and this is a very strong ensemble.
06:54Val Kilmer I chose
06:56because he's a stunning screen presence
07:00but he also has a dark side
07:03that makes him, I think,
07:05a very interesting Batman slash Bruce Wayne.
07:08I need a name.
07:19Batboy, Nightwing.
07:21I don't know, what do you think?
07:22What's a good sidekick name?
07:23Val Kilmer is joined by Chris O'Donnell
07:25who takes on the coveted role of Batman's partner, Robin.
07:28We're totally out of control.
07:30You're going to get yourself killed.
07:31You're looking at your new partner?
07:32No, Bruce.
07:34Whenever you go out tonight, I'll be watching
07:36and wherever Batman goes, I'm going to be right beside him.
07:39I mean, how are you going to stop me?
07:41I can stop you.
07:47Al, hang this next to the Batsuit
07:49where it belongs.
07:52It got down into myself and Elizabeth Taylor
07:53and I said, look it, I'm younger than her.
07:56I could take her in a street fight
07:58and I want this role.
07:59It worked out okay.
08:03What do you suggest, Alfred?
08:05By sea
08:05or by air?
08:13Why not both?
08:24Who's your tailor?
08:25The Batboys are up against two new adversaries,
08:28the Riddler and Two-Face
08:29played by Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones.
08:33What's the point, big boy?
08:36Has anybody ever told you
08:38you have a serious impulse control problem?
08:41We had sets that were, you know,
08:42too big to put into a conventional movie studio
08:44and they had to be put into huge airplane hangars.
08:47So, I mean, it was the scale,
08:49the magnitude of these sets
08:50was the first impression that I had.
08:52Riddle me this, riddle me that.
09:12Who's afraid of the big black pad?
09:15I literally every day would walk on the set
09:17and just my jaw would drop to the ground.
09:21It was just amazing.
09:25Like the jacket?
09:27It keeps me safe when I'm jogging at night.
09:32Batman will come for me.
09:34But did it dry Jim mad
09:36having to master the Riddler's trademark cane?
09:38I whack myself constantly.
09:43I'm always walking around the house like this.
09:46Paralyzed.
09:48I'm getting good.
09:49Real good.
09:50Yeah.
09:53Was that over the top?
09:55Well, I can't really top that,
09:56so I'll bow out now
09:58and leave you with some more batty action.
10:00I'm off to hang up my tights until next week
10:02when Slice Stallone brings another comic book character to life
10:05in Judge Dredd.
10:07See you next time.
10:08Get down, get down, get down, get down.
10:38Get down, get down, get down, get down.
10:47Do-be-do-be-do-be-do-be-do-be-do.
10:49Woo!
10:49Ha!
10:49Ha!
