00:11Who are you dead? It's more like it. How did you find us here?
00:14This is a comic book character.
00:16These are, you know, DC comics, and these are the villains, and they are outrageous.
00:20This is between you and me.
00:21And me.
00:23And me!
00:27Riddler was the...
00:28Riddler.
00:28Red hair, green suit.
00:30So, question mark.
00:31Yeah, I said, who is he? And they said, Jim Carrey.
00:34It'll be funny.
00:35It was a pressure that he felt every minute of the day.
00:38You know, gee, how am I going to make this scene work?
00:42Right, right.
00:43Go ahead.
00:44You can see.
00:45You're a genius.
00:46Stop.
00:47Stop.
00:49It was such a great mix of men.
00:51I mean, Jim Carrey, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris O'Donnell, and Val Kilmer.
00:54It covers all ends of the spectrum.
00:56That's really, yeah.
00:57The funny guy, the sexy guy.
00:59I mean, you've got everything there.
01:00Yeah.
01:00Riddler and Two-Face can make a pretty lethal combination.
01:03I figured you could use a hand.
01:05Two against two are better odds.
01:07Batman is just this big, fun Hollywood picture, and, you know, sometimes you feel like,
01:10I've got him getting paid to run around and, you know, play on these giant sets.
01:15Riddle me this.
01:17Riddle me that.
01:19Who's afraid of the big black pat?
01:22I was surprised at how kind of in-depth they get into each of the characters' duality and why they come from where they come from.
01:29It's just that you're my idol.
01:33It's not to work, Edward.
01:34And some people have been trying to keep us apart.
01:38Yeah, I didn't know how the Riddler story was going to all come together, but it was nice.
01:43There's kind of a nice arc to it.
01:44It's not just this goofy, wacky character who likes evil and stuff who came out of nowhere.
01:49It's this guy who came out of complete obsession and jealousy and, you know, just losing his self-esteem because he put all his eggs in one basket.
02:00And then the guy said, well, I'm not interested.
02:02Right.
02:03You were supposed to understand.
02:10I'll make you understand.
02:13Every character has dual personalities in the movie.
02:17And even I have my own side that I'm trying to hide, which is, well, it's like it's a triangle between me being obsessed with Batman.
02:27Exactly.
02:28And Bruce Wayne being in love with me and me not being interested in Bruce Wayne.
02:32So it was sort of very confusing.
02:34I've met someone.
02:37He's...
02:37He's not you.
02:43I mean, my favorite scene is where I get to seduce Batman.
02:47I'm the first woman to actually kiss Batman in his rubber suit.
02:52Is that right?
02:52It's hard to wear.
02:57It wasn't hard to do it.
02:59But it's just...
03:00Almost everything about the experience is entertainingly absurd.
03:07So the car really works?
03:08Oh, yeah.
03:09It's got about 140 miles an hour.
03:11How fast did you get up?
03:13160.
03:13You did not.
03:14You're making this up.
03:15I did, too.
03:15Went right off the thing.
03:16Off the bat-odometer.
03:22So working with Val...
03:23Amazing, amazing actor.
03:25Yeah.
03:26Really.
03:26He's a different style than you?
03:28I mean, you're worth...
03:29Yeah.
03:29I mean, he's very, very kind of understated.
03:33Very, very quiet.
03:34Very subtle.
03:35And I think we worked well together.
03:37It was really fun.
03:38You know, there was all, like, these rumors about us having some kind of war.
03:41We hadn't even worked together yet.
03:42It was hilarious.
03:43Yeah.
03:44I love this.
03:45It was great.
03:45Your entrance was good.
03:47His was better.
03:48Oh, I enjoyed playing Harvey Two-Face.
03:50I don't know what over-the-top means.
03:51But it's a word that people use, and they use it with great freedom.
03:55Yesterday, a guy asked me about the over-the-topness of it all, which is, you know, perfect gibberish.
04:00This wasn't a very complicated acting job, you know.
04:02This movie is really all about big sets and complicated lighting setups and special effects and lots of noise and over-the-topness.
04:11That's really what it's about.
04:16Ah!
04:17You sunk my battleship!
04:22Well, I wanted to wear that Riddler suit.
04:24I don't get to put on one of those villain suits, unfortunately.
04:28I would have loved to.
04:29Yeah, what's the deal with this?
04:29You don't get a costume.
04:31I know.
04:31Yeah.
04:32I get the black dresses.
04:33They all get the sort of the lime green suits with question marks or the makeup or the black rubber suit.
04:39Like the jacket?
04:40It keeps me safe when I'm jogging at night.
04:43Early on, I realized that everybody else in the movie was changing their suit.
04:49They were getting these new costumes.
04:51You know, Robin starts out with the clunky kind of costume.
04:54Right.
04:54And then it gets this high-tech thing.
04:56And Batman goes into a real high-tech costume in the middle.
04:59And I said, hey, over here.
05:02You know?
05:03Was that over the top?
05:06I can never tell.
05:09This makeup for Harvey Two-Face was, it's not as if you sit down in the chair and go to sleep
05:16and you wake up and suddenly you're Harvey Two-Face.
05:17That's not the way it works.
05:19So it's a long, drawn-out, technical, professional, highly complicated process.
05:26The bat has taught you very well.
05:28It's normal, stupid, but normal.
05:31The only thing that really bothered me about mine was the mask because it was glued onto my face.
05:37And there were no straps.
05:39It would have been much easier if we could just, you know, put a little strap on it.
05:41But, you know, they would put my eye makeup on and then they'd put the glue on and they'd stick it on.
05:46And once it was on, that was on, you know.
05:48Well, let's just say I could write a hell of a paper on a grown man who dresses like a flying rodent.
05:52I also just love the idea of doing something that was completely unpredictable for me.
05:57I mean, people didn't expect me to do this kind of movie.
06:01And so that's why I wanted to do it.
06:02You know that this is going to be a successful movie.
06:09A film like this, no, I think that it'll be, everyone will be really excited about it.
06:13I'd definitely be interested in doing another Batman film.
06:15And this was, this movie was really a pleasure to work on.
06:18And I just really liked all the people.
06:19So if they, you know, put together another, you know, great script and get Joel back, I'll be all over it.
06:25There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea.
06:31This, of course, is one of the most important parts of Batman
06:34because this is the Bat-Light Seal, the, the very famous Seal will stand in front of the famous Bat-Light and sing.
06:45The song is about a rose.
06:47And there is a part in the movie, well, besides we're all fans of Seal and it's a fabulous song.
06:54But also there's a part of the movie about a rose when his mother, when Bruce Wayne's mother was killed,
07:03she dropped her roses and they play a part in his memory.
07:10And so this is a great song for us.
07:13Baby, I can pay you to a kiss from a rose on the grave.
07:19Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah.
07:25Joel liked the song.
07:27He liked the song from my album, Kiss from a Rose, and thought it would be perfect.
07:30In actual fact, if you listen to the lyrics, you know,
07:33there used to be a graying tower alone on the sea, you became the light on the dark side of me type thing.
07:37I can see why he thinks, or why he would think it would fit into the love scene of the movie.
07:45You know, did I want to be part of something big?
07:47It's fun to be a part of it.
07:48It's fun to work with Joel.
07:50I mean, he's a great director, you know, he's a film director.
07:54He's one of the great film directors.
07:56You know, that's what was great about working on this project.
08:00From the bits I've seen of him, I mean, I've seen a fair amount of it.
08:04It's going to be great.
08:05Now that your rose is in blue
08:08A light hits the gloom on the grave
08:12You know, I mean, I've seen a small zumindest for a long time.
