00:03I think Riddler kind of looks a little bit like Alfred E. Newman from Mad Magazine here.
00:06If you look at the cotton Batman Robin costume t-shirts.
00:09This is Chris's first time appearing on a mug.
00:12I want to see Batman stuff.
00:15Let's look around.
00:16The two-faced contrasting leg jeans.
00:18It's Batman and Wonder Woman.
00:20I knew it.
00:21Batman does have twin headlights and it looks like they're both out.
00:24That's a $50 fine in the state of New York.
00:25The black Batman Forever Berette, a fine dollar value at $32.
00:29You know, I've seen so much Batman Forever merchandise today, I'm feeling a little bit discombobulated.
00:43I think I've actually reached my threshold of bat stuff.
00:46So what I'm going to do is this.
00:47I'm not going to buy anything today.
00:49I'm going to go home, clear out my checking account, and come back in a couple of weeks
00:52so I can plow out my entire summer line of bat wear.
00:55So Robin, let's go back to you in Central Park.
00:57And you know what?
00:58I'm really sorry about all the jokes you're going to get about your name all summer.
01:01No one's told me to take this.
01:04John, I don't know what you're talking about.
01:06I don't remember them saying Dorian in the entire Batman movie.
01:10Anyway, when we come back, bat bombs, cape crusaders, goo guns, acid baths, and Jim Carrey in a tiny green mask.
01:18Nicole Kidman, Bruce Wayne's seductive psychiatrist, starred with the original Dark Knight of Gotham City, Michael Keaton, in what 1993 tearjerker?
01:29The answer, when we come back.
01:31Starred with the original Dark Knight of Gotham City, Michael Keaton, in the 1993 film, My Life.
01:37Welcome back to Flick.
01:41I'm Robin Dorian here in a very happening Central Park in New York City.
01:45We're going to Batmobile crew all the way to Los Angeles for the premiere of an indoor sort.
01:50The best thing was probably getting to drive the Batmobile or the Batboat.
02:03It's a lot of fun to dress up, and, you know, especially for actors, that's all we do for a living.
02:07Do I have to wear tights all the time?
02:09When I was young, I fashioned them after me.
02:11I was very young and handsome, like Bruce Wayne.
02:14Okay, there's Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise up here.
02:17Unbelievable.
02:17We've had, like, stars galore.
02:19It was one of those films where you know you're going to go to the set and have a lot of fun.
02:23Got the biggest and best stars in Hollywood in this movie.
02:26Where?
02:28What height?
02:29He's just an enduring legend.
02:31He's dark, but he's fun and he's good, you know.
02:33He's got a dark edge.
02:35All people with dark edges don't have to be bad, you know?
02:38The Bat signal pierces the evening sky.
02:41Gotham City is under siege.
02:43The Riddler has a secret weapon and teams up with the evil toothpaste.
02:46Could it be that Batman's crime-fighting days are numbered?
02:50It must be very difficult, as far as a challenge, to do the third in a series.
03:03It is, I guess.
03:05But fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
03:08I didn't think of it that way.
03:09When Bob Daly and Terry Semel, who are the chairman of the board of Warners, asked me if I wanted to do the new Batman movie,
03:16I think the kid in me reacted first.
03:20Can I persuade you to take a sandwich with you, sir?
03:23I'll get drive-thru.
03:27Once I got into it and talked to the studio people,
03:31they wanted a different kind of tone to it,
03:34all of which was really appealing.
03:36Hot entrance.
03:47He was in the middle of Africa.
03:49We couldn't find him for three days to ask him if he would play Batman.
03:52And when his agent sent a runner out into the middle of Africa with a cellular phone to find him,
03:58they found him in a bat cave.
04:00It's true.
04:01Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do.
04:03I'm Chase Meridian.
04:04I asked Dr. Meridian to come to Gotham to consult on this case.
04:07She specializes in...
04:09Abnormal psychology.
04:10Multiple personalities.
04:11I read your work.
04:13Insightful.
04:14Naive, but insightful.
04:15I'm flattered.
04:17Not every girl makes a superhero's night table.
04:20It's a great role to play, though, because you get to play...
04:22Yeah, kind of vamp it up.
04:24Yeah.
04:24Be smart and strong.
04:26Yeah.
04:27Sexually assertive.
04:28This is what I call it.
04:30Unless you say I could write a hell of a paper on a grown man who dresses like a flying rodent.
04:34Bats aren't rodents, Dr. Meridian.
04:39Really?
04:39I didn't know that.
04:41You are interesting.
04:44I think every character in Batman has the two...
04:47the dual personality syndrome.
04:49Even my character, even though she doesn't put on a suit, she still is trying to hide her obsession with the dark side.
04:59And what is the dark side?
05:00The dark side is her chasing after the wrong kind of man, which is Batman.
05:05This is an ensemble cast.
05:14And what you've been doing lately, I mean, you are the star, the big kahuna, the whole enchilada.
05:20And in this one...
05:21Keep going.
05:21There's more.
05:25The cream of the crap, the top of the heap.
05:28New York, New York.
05:31In this one, you're amongst the group.
05:34Why did you want to do this?
05:37Uh, to humble myself.
05:39Very few people are both a summer and a winter, but...
05:41You pull it off nicely.
05:47What's the point, big boy?
05:49I am the Riddler.
05:51I'm a giant question mark.
05:53Has anybody ever told you you have a serious impulse control problem?
05:59This is the point.
06:01I wanted to do it because it's, uh...
06:04It is the type of thing where really top-flight people come together and have fun.
06:09This is how I found you.
06:12Let me demonstrate.
06:19This is your brain on the box.
06:22This is my brain on the box.
06:24Does anybody else feel like a bright egg?
06:27This is a cartoon.
06:28And the so-called over-the-top or overly exaggerated acting style is, uh...
06:34Performing style is part of the job description.
06:37And how far is too far?
06:39I don't know.
06:40Somebody's supposed to tell me that.
06:41Is that what attracted you to this role, knowing that?
06:43Part of it, yes.
06:44Another part of it was my son's enthusiasm for Batman and all the Batman characters.
06:48You will help me steal production capital so I can put a box on every TV in town
06:53and become Gotham's cleverest carbon-based life form!
06:59And in return...
07:00Is everybody paying attention?
07:04My son is still enthusiastic about it.
07:06He's very, very happy to, uh...
07:09Now that the movie's coming out and, um...
07:12And I'm, I'm, I like, I like it when he's happy.
07:15I will help you solve the greatest riddle of all.
07:18The mother of all riddles.
07:22Who is Batman?
07:25When I grew up, it was always Batman and Robin.
07:27So, you know, I thought, well, let's bring Robin in.
07:30And I was very lucky that Chris O'Donnell said yes, because I think he did a fantastic job.
07:35I need a name.
07:36Batboy, Nightwing.
07:38I don't know, what do you think?
07:39What's a good sidekick name?
07:41How about Dick Grayson, college students?
07:43This Robin's very macho, kind of a bad boy.
07:46He thinks he's, yeah, he thinks he's very, very tough.
07:49He's not?
07:50No, I think he is.
07:51I think he is.
07:52You're looking at your new partner.
07:53No.
07:54Bruce, whenever you go out at night, I'll be watching.
07:57And wherever Batman goes, I'm gonna be right beside him.
08:00I mean, how are you gonna stop me?
08:02I can stop you.
08:04I read a lot about Val Kilmer talking about the weight of the suit.
08:07His was heavier than mine.
08:09He, especially the second suit he gets, has this really heavy cape.
08:14My costume wasn't that bad.
08:15It does get very hot.
08:17What do you suggest, Alfred?
08:18By sea or by air?
08:27Why not both?
08:28There's something very satisfying about this big rubber suit.
08:39Who's your tailor?
08:40I don't remember at which stage they admitted that it shrinks, but that was something that was unusual.
08:47Yeah, it shrinks.
08:48The kind of leather rubber that they chose because of how it looks.
08:53It doesn't breathe and it shrinks.
08:59So you can only wear them for so long and then they're too small.
09:01They would give that one to Chris and they'd cut it up, repaint it, put the R on there and off you go.
09:10Seele is one of the music superstars on this action-adventure soundtrack.
09:20Well, Fliss visited the set of the making of his music video, directed by Joel Schumacher.
09:25It wasn't right to put on the first album, so I saved it for the second one.
09:41And it just so happened that Joel heard it and he liked it.
09:47Now, knowing the script for the movie and seeing snippets of it, I can understand why he liked it, why he wanted it for the movie.
09:56If one didn't know, one would think I actually wrote it for the movie.
10:08Well, coming up, Batman's arch-enemy, Jim Carrey, goes from dumb to even dumber in a blockbuster video pic.
10:16What important distinction do Batman's Belle Kilmer and Disney's Pocahontas have in common?
