00:00I'm here at Victoria's Parliament House, where an event's just been held to mark the
00:06end of the four-year Yurok Justice Commission.
00:09The Yurok Justice Commission is the Aboriginal truth-telling inquiry in Victoria.
00:13It's been investigating the impact of colonisation, past and ongoing, for four years in Victoria.
00:20It's now the state's longest-ever-running Royal Commission.
00:23To commemorate its work, Yurok Commissioner Travis Lovett has just completed a 25-day,
00:30500-kilometre walk, which has ended here at Victoria's Parliament House.
00:34He's walked to try and raise awareness of the Commission's work, which wraps up formally
00:39on the 30th of June, but here with this celebration today.
00:42I'm incredibly proud and honoured to be able to stand here in the steps of Parliament,
00:49where, since 1856, this place has made decisions that have controlled and affected First Peoples
00:58lives, but it's also the place where we can transform the future.
01:04It was joined by some thousands of people on this last leg of his walk, including school
01:08children, and we are still waiting to see the final report of the Yurok Justice Commission.
01:14It's not expected to be released today, but will be probably most likely next month.
01:18It's expected to include more than 100 recommendations to address systemic injustices between the
01:23state and Victorian First Peoples.
