00:00Dodgers beat the Padres 6-3 last night.

00:03Of course, the story here, Scotty, was Otani pitching for the first time as a Dodger,

00:09pitching for the first time in two years, only through the first inning, two hits.

00:13He gave up a run, no walks, no strikeouts, threw almost 30 pitches,

00:18but was able to then get himself out of the inning.

00:20But really, it was his bat that won him the game, had a bunch of hits,

00:23and drove in a bunch of runs on Sportsnet LA.

00:25He has a second, Edmund at first, Otani climbs the ladder and golfs this one into right center field,

00:31a base hit, Tatis throwing to third, not in time.

00:35Otani back to first, his second run batted in, four in the inning, five to two.

00:42It really is unfortunate that he ended up with the Dodgers, isn't it?

00:48Yeah, it is unfortunate.

00:51But what are you going to do?

00:53I will say, I watched him pitch.

00:55I did watch the inning last night.

00:58I think it was actually lined up pretty good with halftime of the basketball game.

01:02So, I wasn't able to flip over to it.

01:05He's got good stuff.

01:07I mean, the two hits he gave up, I mean, they were bloopers.

01:10Like, Tatis had a little blooper flare to center field,

01:13and he got to second, and then he came home on another blooper.

01:17So, he had some pretty good stuff.

01:19He struggled a little bit.

01:20But I'm interested to see how they're going to use him.

01:23I don't think that using him like this would be the way to go,

01:26like opening games for an inning or two.

01:29If you're only going to pitch him an inning or two, Scotty,

01:31wouldn't the back end be where you probably want to use him in the eighth and ninth?

01:36So, we'll see how they use him going forward.

01:38Yeah, I don't know what to say about that because I don't think that's in their plans.

01:44I don't believe that they're going to make him a closer or a set-up guy.

01:49I think he's, you know, always been a starter.

01:53And I think they're just going to do the usual cream puff buildup.

01:58I think they're going to candy it, saltwater taffy.

02:01They're going to pitch him an inning, an inning, and then two innings, two innings, three innings,

02:04and then they're going to let him go five.

02:08Yeah, Roberts said it's going to be, and I'll give you a little more Roberts after I talk to Cam.

02:13He did say he'll probably pitch him again like that in five or six days, he said.

02:19He said he'll go five or six days, he'll wait, and then maybe he'll give him a little bit more,

02:24depending on, you know, how fast he's going to get out of the game.

02:25You'll never see him pitch over 100 pitches, I don't think, the whole season.

02:31I think you're probably right.

02:34They're going from 30-ish to 50-ish, you know, to 70-ish,

02:38and just continue to maybe climb the ladder a little bit as you get deeper into the summer

02:43and closer to October, because that's when you really want him out there healthy

02:47is for that, is when the playoffs come.
