So, Leeds United, in terms of Daniel Farker,
00:04
now obviously as soon as they were promoted back to the Premier League
00:08
after a couple of seasons away, obviously,
00:11
it was confirmed that there was so much interest
00:14
about what's going to happen on his front,
00:16
on Daniel Farker's sort of future tenure
00:19
because so many Leeds fans themselves said,
00:21
thanks for the job, you've done a great job.
00:23
But now it's time to move on just because of his history with relegations.
00:27
Now, obviously, Norwich City, relegation's a tight budget.
00:33
He couldn't keep them in the Premier League
00:35
and they were pretty abysmal under him
00:37
in terms of the top flight football action.
00:40
There's going to be so many resources that they need to use at Leeds
00:44
which are better suited than Norwich City's were a few years ago.
00:48
And you have to look at how much has changed in that time as well.
00:50
It's quite a long time ago as well
00:52
since Daniel Farker's spell at Norwich during those relegation campaigns.
00:57
So, a lot to look ahead to in terms of Daniel Farker.
01:01
He must learn from Norwich's relegations.
01:03
I think that's pretty clear.
01:05
I'm sure he'll be the first to tell you that as well.
01:07
The expectations will be, obviously, with limited investment,
01:12
they have to rise, they have to break that barrier
01:14
and try and remain in the Premier League.
01:17
Dan, our Leeds correspondent.
01:18
Dan, what are your thoughts on Daniel Farker?
01:21
How much has changed since he did get relegated with Norwich?
01:24
Obviously, an incredible season with Leeds United.
01:26
Surely, they can bring that momentum into the Premier League
01:29
and hopefully break the barrier of the last two seasons
01:32
with all priority clubs being relegated.
01:35
And Leeds United will be looking to remain in the top flight.
01:39
For Leeds United, Charles, I think Daniel Farker, of course,
01:43
has spoken a lot, actually, about his time that he had at Norwich.
01:47
Of course, the relegations he had there when he'd got them up to the Premier League.
01:50
He's made quite clear that he didn't have the backing he would have liked at Carrow Road
01:54
and that's partially to do, well, or part of the main reason
01:58
as to why he wasn't able to keep Norwich in the Premier League.
02:01
And you'd have to say, well, so far at least,
02:04
he's been promised a backing at Leeds United
02:06
to at least have a better attempt at it.
02:08
So, of course, there will always be doubters
02:10
and there has been so far that, yes, he's got those relegations on his CV.
02:14
So, can he be the man trusted to keep needs of the Premier League?
02:18
And people, you know, naturally have their doubts about this
02:20
because of his previous experiences at Carrow Road.
02:23
But, as he makes clear, the backing he didn't have there.
02:28
So, he's relying on the backing he's going to get from Leeds United this summer
02:33
and then he will have to put that into action as well
02:35
and make it quite apparent and quite clear
02:38
that when he's had backing, he actually is capable
02:41
of doing the job at Leeds United that he wasn't able to do at Carrow Road.
02:46
Certainly, they've made a good start to the window
02:48
by bringing in Felix Nemetra from Bridget Dortmund.
02:53
Certainly, someone who's, you know, had experience of the Bundesliga,
02:56
experience of the Champions League as well,
02:58
coming into a Premier League side and leading to, you know,
03:01
or looking to build, obviously, not just be the one surviving,
03:04
but perhaps build as well.
03:05
Well, you know, Leeds need to be a club who has that ambition as well
03:08
because I think if you just go in there aiming to survive,
03:10
you're going to find it quite tricky.
03:12
You need to be ambitious in the Premier League and, of course, spend money.
03:15
But, of course, then that in itself is an issue
03:16
because spending money becomes difficult because of PSR constraints.
03:20
But Leeds' board have made very clear that they will spend up to their PSR constraints
03:27
this summer to try and make sure they've got enough depth
03:30
and enough quality to get themselves into a safe enough position
03:34
come the end of the upcoming Premier League season.
03:37
Of course, the fixtures are to come this week as well.
03:40
But I think with Daniel Farker, it is sort of a pride thing a little bit
03:44
because he's sort of stated this fact that the reason he didn't stay up with Norwich
03:48
is because of the lack of backing he had.
03:49
And so now he's got to make sure that he actually proves that point.
03:52
And so if Leeds do give him the support and the chance to win,
03:55
do we actually make clear that, you know, he's able to do it.
03:58
Otherwise, you know, if we get to, say, October, November, December
04:02
and Leeds are languishing towards the bottom,
04:04
I think he will be out of the door quite fast.
04:07
So he's got to get off to a good start.
04:09
Obviously, you know, players need time to bet in.
04:12
So he's got to get his business done relatively early in the transfer market
04:15
to make sure that the players have time to get into the system he's trying to create at Leeds United.
04:19
But certainly with the players he's got and had last season,
04:23
he's starting with a good foundation.
04:25
He just needs to make sure he adds quality to that in as many departments as possible.
04:30
And, of course, strikers, I think, is key.
04:32
Looking at Joe Perrault as your only real striker in Patrick Bamford with a lot of injuries,
04:36
they need to probably add more in that department.
04:38
And obviously, Nemecha could be someone who babs not as an out-and-out striker,
04:42
but could help in the goal-scoring department.
