00:07Colonial Hyundai, the fast, easier, better way to buy a Hyundai.
00:10And we welcome Mr. Shore Parks to the program.
00:13Good morning, Elliot.
00:14What up? How are you guys doing?
00:15Quite a bit, man. Quite a bit.
00:17So, Elliot, I am not going to ask you a question for this first volley.
00:23I'm just going to say to you in the audience, you've been listening.
00:28You've heard not only our show, but the station over the last day and a half or so.
00:33There's been a lot said.
00:36The floor is yours.
00:38Well, I'm glad you finally see what it's like to read my mentions on Twitter,
00:42because it seems like it's been a fun few days for you.
00:45With you not putting Jalen.
00:46But, no, I mean, look, I love lists.
00:49James will tell you I love the top 100 lists.
00:51I love when Chris Sims make a list.
00:52So I'm in my happy place.
00:54I love everyone at the station making a list.
00:56But, you know, my main kind of takeaway from the first two days of this would be
00:59it's insane that you don't have Jalen Hurts in your top 11.
01:03And I hate to pile on you, but I just don't see how you can make a list
01:07that represents the best athletes in Philadelphia right now
01:10and not have what, in my opinion, will probably be the best the Eagles ever do
01:15at quarterback.
01:16I don't think we will ever have a time, and I hope we're all working together
01:19for a long, long time.
01:20Yeah.
01:20But we're sitting here, and there is a better situation at quarterback
01:23than the Eagles have right now.
01:25So I think it's crazy not to have him at the top 11.
01:27So let me ask you this question, Ellie, because there's a lot of ways to go
01:30about this, but I'm curious how you think this will shake out.
01:33In the next few weeks, we'll see the NFL players' top 100 list.
01:41Where do you think he'll rank amongst Eagles players?
01:45How do you think the players across the league would rank A.J., Jalen,
01:51Saquon Lane, Jalen Carter, et cetera, et cetera?
01:55Give me a rough estimate of what number player he'll be amongst Eagles players.
02:00I would think he will be behind Saquon.
02:03I would think he will probably be behind Lane.
02:06I think maybe probably ahead of A.J.
02:08I mean, if you remember in 2022 when he had his breakout season, if I'm not mistaken,
02:14he was ranked the second best player in the NFL that year.
02:17Now, I think you could argue he might have had a better year in 2022 than he did last year.
02:23Obviously, the playoffs, you know, ending the way it did might factor into some votes.
02:27But those votes were also made prior to the playoffs.
02:30I think they take the poll, you know, sometime in December, the last few weeks.
02:35So I would guess Jalen will probably be in the top 30 or so of the NFL top 100.
02:41But you're right.
02:42He probably won't be the top Eagles.
02:43It is going to be interesting when that comes out because just as a for instance,
02:46and I think most people will probably remember this, the Eagles had all sorts of all pros
02:51and pro bowlers, and he wasn't on either list.
02:55So, you know, what we'll say.
02:57But a lot of ways to go about this.
02:59Where does the rest of the NFL perceive Jalen Carter?
03:04We are so high on him.
03:06We are aware of the way he attracts those double and triple teams even at times and the way he opens it up for everyone else.
03:15But we know that it's always like a little bit of a lag for the rest of the NFL catching up to these young players.
03:23Are people aware of what we have yet, Elliot?
03:27Yeah, I think there's two ways to look at this, and both the answer is somewhat the same.
03:32I think if you could pull the NFL, like the GMs, and they could take one player off the Eagles roster,
03:38I don't think it's a stretch to say it would be Jalen Carter because of his age, his position,
03:43obviously how good he is at the position.
03:46And so, yeah, they obviously have a great player there in Carter,
03:48and I do think that's recognized around the league, especially in the front office.
03:53Now, from a fan perspective, I don't know if he's there yet.
03:56You look at the Defensive Player of the Year rankings from last year,
03:58he wasn't, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't even in the discussion for that.
04:02So I do still think...
04:03Yeah, he wasn't nominated as one of the top five.
04:05That's right.
04:06Right, so I think he still has a ways to go, but this next season, I mean,
04:11this is the biggest year of Jalen Carter's life, like not just as a player but as a person.
04:15If he can go out on the field and perform at the level he did last year,
04:19he will get generational money to the tune of, I mean,
04:22he could realistically get $100 million guaranteed potentially.
04:26So this is a massive year for Jalen Carter, and I do think he definitely gets the respect
04:30he deserves around the league, but, you know, this next year will be a big one.
04:34Are we talking $40 million, potentially $40 million?
04:37I think D Tackle, who with Chris Jones might have set the market at $35 or something recently,
04:45and now he's got a couple years before this comes up.
04:48Think about that.
04:49It's going to be three years after that deal.
04:50It's going to be $40 plus million.
04:53Yeah, I mean, I think the total number, it wouldn't shock me.
04:56Now, he might not get it all, but it won't shock me if this thing lands at about $170 million total.
05:00I mean, he's...
05:01Yeah, and I don't know, like, I give averages is what we look at.
05:05You know, when Jalen Hurts got his deal, we looked at his average,
05:08which I think at the time made him top five, if not top one quarterback.
05:12But I think the real thing to look at here is total guarantees.
05:15And I think Jalen Carter, when he signs his contract,
05:18will get the most guaranteed money for a defensive player in NFL history.
05:22Yeah, I'm with you.
05:23But he has to step out and have a big year.
05:25But if he does, that will happen.
05:27All right, Elliot, so I want to do more on the Eagles,
05:29but let's do a little bit more on the top ten first.
05:32I just want to get your perspective of how you sort of sized some of these guys up.
05:36Where did you put Bryce Harper, and what was your reasoning?
05:40Because I found him one of the trickier ones to arrive at.
05:44Schwerber's been better this year.
05:46Wheeler's clearly been better this year.
05:48How did you arrive at where you put Bryce?
05:51So I've been sworn to secrecy by the afternoon show not to put my list down until 3 o'clock.
05:56But what I will say is...
05:56For the love of God.
05:58But hey, you know, but I will say Bryce definitely got dinged on my list.
06:03He is not high up on my list, and I don't think he should be.
06:06I feel like in this city I grew up, in the WIP I grew up with,
06:09we dinged the star players when they had bad playoff performances
06:13and their team didn't perform well.
06:14Was Bryce good in the playoffs last year?
06:16Yeah, Bryce wasn't terrible in the playoffs last year.
06:19But the Phillies were a complete disappointment.
06:21And whenever you're the star player on a team and your team has a bad year,
06:25you absolutely deserve to be dinged.
06:27So I do not believe Bryce Harper belongs in the top five of anybody's list.
06:32I don't think he...
06:32He doesn't have the best resume like he used to.
06:35He didn't have a good playoff.
06:36And the Phillies have choked two years in a row.
06:38So I don't think Bryce belongs in a top five on anyone's list.
06:41All right, Elliot, I'm going to give you three Phillies pitchers.
06:44I'm curious which one you would have ranked the highest.
06:49After Wheeler, Ranger, Lizardo, Sanchez.
06:55Who's the top amongst those three for you?
06:57I think you have to go with Ranger.
06:59The playoff performance, obviously.
07:01The playoff performances he's had, how he's pitching this year,
07:04I think he is without question number two there.
07:07And I would also say that if it was up to me
07:10and who I would sign this offseason,
07:12I would sign Ranger before I would sign Schwarber.
07:14And they're both great players.
07:16They're both great options as free agents.
07:18But I think Ranger, now he is 30, which is surprising.
07:21I think he has a brighter future than Schwarber does.
07:23And I want to pay for future production, not past production.
07:26Yeah, I agree with that.
07:28I think Ranger is a more important free agent.
07:29All right, one more on sort of sizing guys up.
07:32But Quinion or Cooper DeGene, who goes higher on the list for you?
07:39I think Quinion is a better player than Cooper.
07:41And I think Quinion belongs higher.
07:43Cooper obviously made a big play in the postseason.
07:46He had an outstanding year.
07:48Quinion had to carry the burden all year of being this team's best cornerback.
07:53Obviously, Slay had a big part of it.
07:55And I think Slay had an underrated year.
07:56But Quinion, as a rookie, stepped onto arguably the best defense in the NFL
08:01arguably the best, well, definitely the best team in the NFL
08:04and had to carry the burden of the number one corner.
08:06I saw him week after week shut down the guys that other corners around the league
08:11struggled with.
08:12So I think because Quinion has a bit of a quiet personality,
08:15he's not super, you know, talkative, that he gets dinged a little bit for that.
08:19But I think he had a better year than Cooper DeGene.
08:22And I definitely think he belongs high.
08:23And I'll say this.
08:24I think he belongs not that far off from Jalen Carter.
08:27Like, Jalen Carter obviously deserves to be high and had a great year.
08:30And Quinion also stepped on that defense and made a huge difference for them
08:35in how that defense changed.
08:36Sure did.
08:36The way they could play it.
08:38I think we view them on different tiers.
08:40I'm not so sure they're on different tiers.
08:42I think they're closer to each other than people want to say.
08:46After the minicamp, if we can call it that, Elliot, after the team activity,
08:51is there any change to what we look like at safety?
08:55Did we get any developments in terms of, you know, Sidney Brown up and down
09:00on the depth chart?
09:01Andrew Makuba, Tristan McCollum got a lot of options.
09:06Yeah.
09:07So Sidney Brown got a good amount of the first team safety reps
09:11in the last time we got to see them practice, which was a week ago today.
09:15Him and Makuba seem set to really battle it out there for that safety spot.
09:20Now, I believe Makuba will be the starting safety week one, snap one.
09:24I think they want him to win the job.
09:26I think they drafted him because of the experience he has of playing.
09:29You don't often see guys that are drafted in the top two rounds
09:33just that have played the amount of football Makuba has.
09:36Normally, it's a guy that comes out early because of how talented he is.
09:39Makuba's best quality he brings to the NFL and to the Eagles is his experience.
09:44He's a smart football IQ guy.
09:45You can see when you watch his tape.
09:47He's really good at processing.
09:49He jumps routes.
09:50That's how he's able to make plays on the football.
09:52So I think they want him to win the job.
09:54I think he will win the job, but he's not going to be handed the job.
09:58I think Sidney will compete with him, but I just don't think Vic Fangio
10:02is going to put Sidney Brown out there as his full-time safety.
10:05So they'll compete, but I would say right now it would be Makuba, Sidney Brown,
10:09and then Tristan McCollum third, obviously not including Reid Blankenship.
10:13And were there any other things that you could just determine after the one day
10:18when everyone was there, you know, we have those veteran players, guys like Josh Uche,
10:24you know, guys like Aziz Ojolari, Dory Jackson, who've been around this league for a while,
10:31who might surprise some people, you know, emerging on depth charts.
10:34Did any of those guys show up?
10:36So one thing I would say with Josh Uche is I remember last year being at off-season workouts
10:42and the first time getting to see Bryce Huff out on the field.
10:45And I remember my first thought when I saw him was, that guy looks undersized for a defensive end.
10:50That was my thought watching Josh Uche.
10:52He just looks undersized compared to the other edges they have.
10:56On the flip of that, Aziz Ojolari is bigger than I expected.
10:59I mean, you can just see why he went in the first round just athletically.
11:02He's a very imposing figure.
11:04So for those two, they're going to battle it out.
11:07Aziz is going to make the roster.
11:08Josh Uche, I think, is battling for a roster spot.
11:12But my main takeaway, I would say, from the last day, depth chart-wise,
11:16would be Kyle McCord is making this team.
11:19Like, I know Dorian Thompson-Robinson got acquired, and, you know, they'll in theory compete.
11:24But when you watch Kyle McCord throw the ball out there,
11:26he just throws it differently than all the other quarterbacks on the roster.
11:30Like, he just, he has a special arm.
11:32So there are other things and parts of his game he obviously has to work on.
11:36But I would be stunned if they cut Kyle McCord.
11:38I think it's pretty locked in of Jalen McKee and Kyle McCord.
11:42Wow.
11:42So you're saying Kyle McCord has an arm that's special compared to Tanner McKee and Jalen Hurts.
11:49You're saying his arm is the one that just sort of pops off the page.
11:53Yeah.
11:54To me, it popped off the page on that final practice.
11:56And when you watch his tape, I mean, he just, he has velocity on his passes.
12:00I don't think the other quarterbacks on the roster do.
12:03Now, he takes his ball.
12:04That could be a good thing or a bad thing at times.
12:06Well, that's what I was going to say.
12:07Like, when I watched him practice, he took chances with the football in the way McKee and Hurts did not.
12:14Like, he threw it into tight windows, and he had a low completion percentage, which is why he took chances.
12:18But, again, the combination of watching him in person but also watching him at Syracuse, he just, he has zip on the ball.
12:26So, Dorian Thompson-Robinson definitely, I think, has a very small chance of making the team.
12:31Interesting.
12:32Elliot, good report, bud.
12:33We will talk to you probably later this week.
12:35Thank you, Elliot.
12:35Thank you, Elliot.
