00:00I'm glad you did top 10, because I did top 12.
00:03You evened it out.
00:04There you go.
00:05I went 11A, and I let them edit if the need be.
00:09I said, what can I tell you?
00:11I'm an even-dozen kind of guy.
00:12So I gave 12 answers.
00:14You gave 10.
00:15So between you and I, we came up with 11.
00:17So what is up with Spike Icke and Boban saying, let's have a top 11?
00:22What is it?
00:23They're just trying to be difficult.
00:24I don't know.
00:25What is that?
00:25More memorable?
00:26I mean, you hear it.
00:27You're like, oh, top 11.
00:28What's that?
00:29Because we invented the top 10.
00:31I mean, we've been doing this top 10 thing.
00:32Oh, for years.
00:33Nobody in America, nobody in America had a top 10 list until our midday show.
00:37No, that never happened.
00:39No one ever had a top 10.
00:41No.
00:41The inventors of the top 10, the midday show, when we were in it for all those years.
00:45All right, no.
00:45All jokes aside, and I'll try to dig up what my old top 10s were.
00:48And I'll give you my 11th if I have to here, but let me tell you my top 10.
00:53Now, let me tell you who's not in this.
00:56No, I won't do that yet.
00:57Can I ask you a question before you even go there?
01:0111.
01:01You got 10.
01:02Yeah, but I got 11 also.
01:04Okay, if you're going to go with an 11th, that's fine.
01:06Yeah.
01:06How many per team?
01:09Well, let me...
01:09What's your team breakdown?
01:11I'd like to know that before you start to give us names.
01:13I'm not going to tell you that before I give you the names.
01:15Okay.
01:15I will just say this.
01:17Once you get through the top five, and I felt pretty strong about who the top five were,
01:24you could juggle the order, but I feel pretty darn confident the top five should be the
01:28top five.
01:29I felt like six through, take it all the way down to about 15, if you had to, is it's three
01:36different groups battling.
01:38By the way, real quick, just to the point of the old list, it was eye-opening compared
01:43to some of the old lists we used to do.
01:45Oh, sure.
01:45And the struggle to get to 10, you know, it was nice to have 15 to choose from.
01:51The 18th best player is better than the 5th best player.
01:53Absolutely.
01:54About seven or eight years ago.
01:55You're talking like, is Oduble Herrera on this list?
01:58I mean, I got some big-time, I mean, I got big-time players like Schwarber and Devontae
02:04not in the top 10.
02:06So I got, I feel really good about Philly sports, although I will say Sixers and Flyers,
02:10eh, not doing so good.
02:11All right, let me just say this.
02:13Once you get through five, it's a battle of three different groups.
02:17Eagles defensive players versus Philly starting pitchers versus Eagles offensive linemen.
02:24I'm telling you, there's a lot of that from like six to 15.
02:27Here's my list.
02:28I'm going to go one to 10.
02:30Number one, first time I've had him in this spot that we've done the list.
02:35Congratulations to him, a new number one of Philly sports, Saquon Barker.
02:38Saquon's number one.
02:39I feel, I feel real good about that.
02:41If Bryce was playing and at his normal standard, I might have kept it with Bryce because I've
02:48never seen Bryce in October be lame.
02:50He's been great.
02:51And I'm not going to drop Bryce far, but the fact that Bryce hasn't been playing at quite
02:56the same clip and Saquon just did what he did.
02:59Saquon number one.
03:00I feel good with that.
03:01Number two, Bryce Harper.
03:03So, a little shakier than it had been.
03:07And obviously there's some concern moving forward, but I'm not going to bump him out of that
03:12yet.
03:13He could certainly tumble down.
03:15I'm not ready to go there yet.
03:16Number three.
03:18I mean, the guy has never let his team or the city down.
03:22It's never, ever been his fault in October when they've lost.
03:27Number three is Zach Wheeler.
03:30The man is just an amazing pitcher.
03:34And he belongs in the lineage of the great pitchers from Grover Cleveland to Robin Roberts
03:41to Jim Bunning to Steve Carlton.
03:44You go on down the line, you're going to get to Schilling, you're going to get to Cole Hamels
03:49and Roy Halladay, and now Zach Wheeler.
03:52He deserves that, and he deserves top three.
03:55And honestly, he might even deserve number two, but I'm putting him three.
03:59As a matter of fact, I got Wheeler, too.
04:01It's reasonable.
04:02Cody, it's reasonable.
04:04Number four.
04:06His numbers would be so much more if he played in a different offense.
04:11I think he is a Hall of Famer.
04:13Whether he makes it or not, we'll see.
04:15But I think A.J. Brown is a super stud wide receiver.
04:20And by the way, he blocks for the little extra part that's worth.
04:23He really does do it well.
04:24He is a great, great player.
04:28And if you play with a different quarterback, I think his numbers would be buffo.
04:32All right, number five.
04:34Now, I considered five over four.
04:37But I went A.J. four.
04:39But, man, five is pushing to go up.
04:42And he will be up soon.
04:44Number five is Jalen Carter.
04:45The best defensive player on the Eagles team.
04:49And a player who got incredibly short-changed, not being in the finalist for defensive player of the year this year in pro football.
04:56And the guy that made probably the two most important plays in the entire season, third down and fourth down versus the Rams in that game.
05:03All right, those five, I will just...
05:06Now, before I continue...
05:07Oh, what are you doing?
05:08What?
05:09Is this going to be a Jalen thing?
05:10Well, I'm Jalen one on my list.
05:11Well, that's just ridiculous.
05:12Why?
05:12Okay.
05:13Because he's not as good as those five.
05:14He's the second-best quarterback in the NFL.
05:16Okay.
05:17I have him third on my list.
05:18Okay.
05:19And you don't even have him in the top five.
05:20I do not have him in the top five.
05:22All right, that's outrageous.
05:23Didn't even consider him for the top five.
05:23All right, that's outrageous.
05:24I wrote down about 20 to 25 total names, of which he was in there.
05:29But as I whittled it down, I'm not embarrassed at all.
05:33All right, Jody, I saw you shaking your head a little bit when I said Jalen Carter.
05:37Yeah, I have Jalen in my top ten.
05:40Not Carter, excuse me, A.J. Brown.
05:42I have A.J. Brown down significantly further than you are.
05:46Boy, he's getting dinged by you because of the Jalen thing.
05:48That's not fair.
05:49He brings it.
05:50What do you mean?
05:51If Jalen got him the ball, he'd have Jamar Chase numbers.
05:54He just doesn't get the ball.
05:57Anyway.
05:57So they shouldn't have given it to Saquon as much as they did last year on the way to
06:01the Super Bowl victory.
06:02I'm not saying that.
06:02I'm saying I'm not.
06:02On the way to the parade.
06:03I'm saying, hey, we didn't throw it to A.J.
06:05No, no, no.
06:05I'm not complaining.
06:06I'm just saying I'm not dinging A.J. Brown because he doesn't get the ball.
06:11If he was in a different offense, he'd get the ball.
06:12I think A.J. Brown, four, I'm good.
06:14All right, I feel really confident with those five in the top five.
06:18Now it's like, all right, what do you make of the rest?
06:20Now remember, I told you, it's going to be offensive linemen versus Philly starting
06:24pitchers versus defensive players.
06:27And I'm telling you guys, there's about 12 or 13 left that are really, really amazing.
06:32Number six, I've seen no fall off in his game.
06:36I think he's a Hall of Famer.
06:37He does it every year, so he's reliable.
06:39It's not a flash in the pan.
06:41And I got to start going offensive line, offensive line, offensive line, is Lane Johnson, who
06:45I think is their best.
06:46Now it's tight.
06:47You got like three or four really good offensive linemen.
06:50But year over year, consistency, and someone I believe you can just flat out count on.
06:55Lane Johnson, six, I feel good.
06:56Joe, do your thoughts on that?
06:58I got him higher.
06:58Okay.
06:59Oh, yeah.
07:00Okay.
07:00All right.
07:00All right.
07:01Number seven.
07:03Now I have a run of eagles here.
07:04This is where I'm like, I'm trying to figure out my Sanchez, my Ranger, my Lizardo, my defenders,
07:12my offensive linemen, number seven.
07:15It'll be interesting to see where this one is a year from now.
07:19But based on this past year, number seven, Zach Bond.
07:23I believe the Eagles' second best defender.
07:26The league thought he was their best defender.
07:29He was the one guy on the team that was actually a finalist for defensive player of the year.
07:32I thought Jalen Carter should have been, but Zach Bond finished fifth in the voting.
07:38I'm good with him, seven.
07:39He's a tremendous player.
07:41All right.
07:41Number eight.
07:42And you're going to see why the Eagles win the Super Bowl.
07:45I'm going to keep rattling off eagles.
07:47Number eight, I'm going back to the offensive line.
07:49Now, James, I know you're probably cursing me here because you haven't heard Jalen's name.
07:53But I believe number eight.
07:54I've already checked out on your list for that reason.
07:56That's right.
07:57Number eight.
07:59I think Landon Dickerson's a tremendous player.
08:01Just a tremendous player.
08:03I mean, the running that they do, I mean, he just moves mountains, that guy.
08:10I mean, they had a problem when they lost Brandon Brooks, who was an outstanding guard.
08:14And for about a year or two, it was kind of like, what are we doing here?
08:17And then they got this guy, and now he's the new Brandon Brooks for the next ten years.
08:21I love him.
08:22Great player.
08:23Number nine.
08:25Now, I'm really deep in the weeds here.
08:26Again, all the Phillies pitchers, you guys know my arguments.
08:29I'm trying to figure this out.
08:30But number nine, this guy is underrated.
08:34His name comes up about a third the time that his cohort's name comes up.
08:42Because the cohort scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl.
08:46More popular.
08:47Quinion Mitchell, in my opinion, is a slightly better player and an amazing quarterback.
08:52I got Quinion number nine.
08:55And I don't know if nationally people recognize it, because the ball just doesn't get thrown his way that much,
08:59which is obviously always a compliment to a cornerback.
09:02I put him at 11, so I have him on my list.
09:04Same kind of range.
09:05Yeah.
09:06I mean, I think Quinion is unbelievable.
09:09And again, these are tough decisions, because these guys are all really close.
09:13Number 10, I go to the other side of the Eagles' offensive line.
09:18And I go to Jordan Malata.
09:21So I got my right tackle.
09:22I got one of my guards.
09:23And I got my left tackle.
09:24All in the top 10.
09:25I go Malata 10.
09:27So I went with all of them over, for instance, Hurts.
09:30Over the Phillies' starting pitchers.
09:33Over Maxey.
09:35Over Schwarber.
09:37I mean, there's over Cooper.
09:38I mean, there's some really good players.
09:40And if I had to come up with an 11, because Spike Ike and Fritz were looking for an 11th,
09:45and I really wrestled with this one.
09:48But I am a believer in Ranger.
09:51I got Ranger Suarez number 11.
09:53I think he's an unbelievable pitcher.
09:55Ranger over Jalen is nonsense.
09:57I mean, that's a nonsensical thing to do.
09:59I don't think so.
09:59Honestly.
10:01He's not in your top 10?
10:02It's crazy.
10:03This is silly.
10:04I would have Hurts probably somewhere in the 15 to 20 range.
10:09Oh, Jesus.
10:09Because I would then get to some, I don't have the order, but in some combination,
10:14Devontae, Schwarber, Sanchez, Lizardo, I mean, Cooper de Jeanne.
10:22And then at some point I'd get to Hurts and Trey and Goddard and Juergens.
10:26You're putting Hurts on the same level as Trey?
10:28I mean, this is.
10:30Hurts is on the same level as a Trey Turner?
10:32Same grouping, but I would put him above Trey.
10:34Wow.
10:34I would put him above Trey.
10:35Wow, nice.
10:36So I would probably, I'd have to figure it out.
10:38I'd probably have Hurts around 15, 16.
10:41I mean, look, Jody, I said last year during the season, and even after the season, I thought
10:46there were seven players in the Eagles offense better than Hurts.
10:49You're wrong then.
10:50You're wrong now.
10:51Okay.
10:52I mean, you're all done.
10:53The position itself just has to lend itself to the importance of it.
10:58You know, it's important, but I'm not, this isn't important.
11:00This is top 10 players.
11:03All right, Jody, your reaction.
11:04Go ahead.
11:05We have a lot of the same guys.
11:09Not every single, not man for man across.
11:12Our order is a little bit different.
11:14I'll give it to you with less fanfare than you just did.
11:17Number one, Saquon Barkley.
11:19Number two, Zach Wheeler.
11:21Yep.
11:22Reasonable.
11:22Number three is, who did I, oh, Lane Johnson.
11:28I got Lane up there.
11:29Lane's a Hall of Famer.
11:30Lane might be the greatest right tackle in the history of football, and he's played every
11:34single game he's ever played right here in Philadelphia.
11:36He would be number three.
11:38Number four would be, they'll like me on the other side of the room here.
11:41I got Jalen Hurts at number four.
11:44Number five, Bryce Harper.
11:47He's got to deliver a Super Bowl.
11:49Jalen has.
11:50Harper hasn't.
11:51That's why Jalen's at Harper.
11:52It's Bryce's fault, though.
11:53That's why, the two guys that it's never been their fault are Bryce and Wheeler.
11:56Not his fault.
11:58Correct.
11:59But there is.
12:00The other guys have let them down.
12:01That's much the way I look at it.
12:02And baseball is harder.
12:03And outfield, the first baseman is going to have less of a chance to win a game the
12:08way that Jalen did the Super Bowl last year.
12:10So yes, I agree that the way the game is played, the two different sports kind of tilted
12:15a little bit.
12:16Because I'll just say this, and then right back to this, but even the Mets series last year,
12:19and I know people point to that one at bat Bryce had in the sixth inning.
12:21That's epically awful.
12:22But in four games, he did have a 750 on base percentage.
12:25I mean, excuse me, a 750 slugging percentage.
12:26Like, he had an OPS over 1,000.
12:28It wasn't his fault.
12:29But anyway.
12:29All right.
12:29Go ahead.
12:30So I got Harper 5.
12:35Jalen Carter 6.
12:37I have Hurts.
12:38I have the two Jalents.
12:39I almost had them back to back.
12:41I have 4 and 6.
12:41I was thinking about 4 and 5, putting Harper ahead of Hurts.
12:45But no, no.
12:46He won the Super Bowl.
12:47He gets a B4.
12:48Number 7 for me was, see, here's what I did.
12:53I'm not living in the past of the process killing one.
13:00Joe has already moved on from that.
13:01He's taken his beating and moved on from it.
13:03Are you putting Joel here?
13:04Oh, yeah.
13:04Are you really?
13:05Oh, yeah.
13:06So I thought about him, but not long.
13:08He won an MVP.
13:08How many guys on this list have won an MVP?
13:11Yeah, but it's also now, and I just don't trust that he will be able to answer the bell.
13:16I mean, obviously, historically speaking, sure, he'd be in the top five.
13:19But I just don't feel like I can trust him.
13:22Right.
13:23He would be in my top five, too.
13:24But because of the injuries, that's why he falls down to seven.
13:28And I got Maxie at eight.
13:29I have two Sixers on the list.
13:31Sorry, Michikoff.
13:33There are no Flyers to be fined on this list.
13:36But I actually do have two Sixers.
13:37I'm surprised you got Maxie above some of the pitchers and above some of the Eagles' defenders.
13:41Oh, I did all the pitchers.
13:42You got Maxie above Quinion, Cooper de Jeanne, and Bond?
13:46Oh, yeah.
13:46Oh, I can't do that.
13:47Oh, yeah.
13:48I can't do that.
13:48Yeah.
13:49Okay.
13:49Who's nine?
13:51Maxie was eight.
13:52Nine is Zach Bond.
13:53Okay.
13:54And if Bond has another year, like this year, Bond will be moving up from nine.
13:57I can guarantee that.
13:58But as great as it was, it's still only one year.
14:02That's why he's number nine.
14:04Ten is A.J. Brown, which, yeah, I think you overrate because of if, if, Jalen, if, Jalen,
14:10if, Jalen, if, Jalen.
14:11They didn't need to throw it to him.
14:13They ended it to take one.
14:14They won a Super Bowl.
14:15So I'm not going to add points to A.J.'s things that he didn't actually do because the Eagles
14:21decided to do it more efficiently in another direction.
14:23So that's why he's number 10.
14:26My number 11 was Schwarber, and I had 11 and 11A.
14:30Schwarber was my 11th.
14:32My Lada was my 11A.
14:34So I had an even dozen.
14:36My Lada essentially 12th, yeah.
14:37Yeah.
14:37Well, look, it's an impressive group of players.
14:39I mean, again, my list did not even have Sanchez, Hurts, Maxie, Schwarber, Devontae,
14:45Lizardo, or Cooper DeGene, which is pretty amazing.
14:48All right, well, look, you can react to that.
14:502-1-5, 5-9-2.
14:51Yeah, there's two rookie cornerbacks.
14:52Got to do a little bit more.
14:54If they establish, they establish.
14:55I mean, they established.
14:57I mean, they helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl.
14:59I mean, Patrick Mahomes had nowhere to throw the ball.
15:01Part of that was the line was crashing in, but part of that was, I mean, Mahomes is good
15:04enough if you give him two seconds.
15:06Because he didn't have 2.1 seconds.
15:09But a lot of plays, he had two seconds, and he had nowhere to throw the ball.
15:13And to me, that's Cooper DeGene and Quinion, and I mean, Slay was part of that, and you
15:17know.
15:17All right, so look, you can react to that, and obviously the Phillies weekend.
