00:00Do you think, and it's funny because these guys were on opposites, sort of, sort of.

00:04Do you think A.J. Brown, with what he said back in, I guess it was November or December,

00:11and what Brandon Graham said?

00:13I think what Brandon Graham did on this show might have been one of the things that kind of like galvanized that team.

00:18And I've said this a little bit inside the building.

00:22Regardless of what degree of it was kind of misinterpreted or missaid by Brandon,

00:27it forced those guys to communicate, talk, and come closer.

00:31And I think throughout my time, coaches and organizations really struggle with people that say things in the media,

00:38and I did as a young player, that it's like the wrong thing.

00:42It's an inconvenience for them to have to deal with this dumb thing that somebody said.

00:46Yep.

00:47Or controversial thing that somebody said.

00:49And the reality is, most of the time, there's some degree of that that is going to come out

00:57that is going to make people have to face what's being said, right?

01:02So you have to come to grips with it.

01:03And that can either lead to positivity or it can go the other way.

01:07And I think the Eagles handled it really well.

01:09They became closer and tighter.

01:11And it almost galvanized that team around both of those guys.

01:15Even more so.

01:17I had the impression Brandon did that purposefully.

01:20He might have.

01:21Here was my interpretation.

01:22This is what I sensed.

01:24I'm a 15-year veteran.

01:25This is probably it for me.

01:27I'm on a great team that has a shot to win the Super Bowl.

01:30I don't want to see our chance derailed by nonsense.

01:35Let's frickin' lock it the hell in.

01:39That's the way I interpreted Brandon going public when he did.

01:42I think that is potential.

01:44There also could be a level of not even being that thought out.

01:47And that's just the feeling that he has.

01:49And it just kind of comes out naturally.

01:51I think a lot of guys that are great leaders don't even all the time think about why they're doing things.

01:56It just feels right.

01:58And I don't know.

02:00Again, I'm not going to say whether nobody knows other than those two guys what degree of that was true, right?

02:07But it doesn't matter.

02:08It galvanized them around each other and made the team tighter.

02:11And I think to what the Phillies are going through, I know this isn't probably what everybody who watches the Phillies wants to hear.

02:17It could be the best thing that's happening to them right now because the way they ended last season sucked, right?

02:21They didn't end it the way they should have at the start of the season.

02:24There's a ton of talent on this roster.

02:26If these guys get it together, they should have the talent to be really competitive and win.

02:30Totally.

02:30And if you look at the best teams since I've been in Philadelphia, almost all of us struggled at the start of the year.

02:362017, we were not great at the start of the year.

02:38Then we went on like a nine-game winning streak.

02:40The year this past year, obviously, people were calling for next year.

02:43I'd be fired first half of the season.

02:46Look at the Phillies, the two best years they've had.

02:48They had terrible first half starts.

02:50That's right.

02:50And came on at the end of it.

02:51This city, it's almost good to have adversity because if you have a tight enough group and you have a good enough core,

02:59you become tighter and galvanized as a result of what's happening with all of the noise.

03:04It can also destroy you.

03:06So we'll find out which one of those happens with the Phillies.

03:09I tend to think these guys are, it feels like they've been tight before.

03:13They need somebody to have some gusto and just to, I don't know, it's hard to explain.

03:23But there's always got to be one or two of those guys that are just a wild card that is going to just pop off.

03:30It's going to piss everybody off for a day.

03:32And then everybody's going to be like, you know what, that was like a big truth bomb.

03:35Or that was like, the amount of passion that he showed rubs off on other guys.

03:40That's the stuff that I want to see a little bit more out of the Phillies, just in general.

03:44Boy, that resonates with me.
