Bernie Rayno discusses areas with developing wind shears and rainstorms that could very likely turn into a tropical storm next week.

00:00The Atlantic Basin remains quiet. All of the tropical, if we could say, activity is in the
00:06eastern Pacific. Let's take you into the Atlantic. I mean, just take a look at it. First of all,
00:10you have all this dry air denoted by the yellow shading here across the Turks and Kikos all the
00:17way into the tropical Atlantic. Now, you do have this little area where you don't have a whole lot
00:22of moisture, but that's an area where you have a ton of wind shear, winds coming in out of the
00:27southwest. Let me show you the product we have for that. From the Gulf of America all the way
00:32toward the African coast, you see that dark purple? That's all wind shear. Nothing is going to survive
00:38all these tropical waves coming off Africa. Nothing survives in there. Now, this is not unheard of.
00:44You typically see that, especially in the tropical Atlantic. But one area you always watch for is
00:49close into the United States. Southwest Atlantic, Gulf of America, and the Caribbean. We do have
00:56clusters of thunderstorms here in the southwest Caribbean. But notice anything that tries to go
01:01north, and I mean anything that tries to go north, runs into that wind shear from Jamaica toward Cancun
01:07into the Bay of Campeche. That's why we think it's going to be relatively quiet, at least through this
01:12week. Now, one thing to keep an eye on as we get toward next week, you're going to see this big area
01:18of high pressure build across the southern tier of the United States. You always look under the belly of
01:24the high for tropical development. So we're going to monitor this area. However, I'm not very
01:29optimistic, thankfully, that we're going to have anything developing here because the wind shear
01:35remains quite strong. Now, in the Pacific, let's keep an eye on this area, an area of showers and
01:41thunderstorms. This is our tropical rainstorm likely to become Eric. It'll be a tropical storm and it will
01:48impact southwest coast of Mexico later this week.
