00:00In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the Japanese Navy ship is patrolling another vessel carrying
00:05plutonium. The captain goes to the command center and tells his officer, Yoshinari, not to deviate
00:10from the course, because if something happens to the plutonium, the radiation could wipe out marine
00:15life. The whole team obeys the order, but soon afterwards, the captain of the plutonium ship
00:20gets in touch, telling them that the vessel has run aground at sea. They suspect that the ship's
00:25hull has collided with an atoll, but the radar signal picks up a gigantic object that begins
00:29to move under the sea. The news soon spreads throughout Japan and a team of scientists,
00:34led by Mr. Kusanagi, intends to investigate what happened. Upon hearing this, Yoshinari offers to
00:40join the team, as he believes that something much worse than an atoll caused the plutonium
00:44vessel to run aground. Meanwhile, on the island of Himagami, a policeman and a sailor flee in
00:50desperation, as if they were being chased. When they reach their boat, the sailor tries to radio
00:55for help, but only manages to shout the word bird, before being attacked by a mysterious creature.
01:00The next morning, Osaka, the Nagasaki police inspector, goes to the city zoo to talk to
01:05Nagamine, an expert in ornithology. Because of his knowledge of birds, the officer comments on what
01:11happened in Himagami and calls on the young woman to help him with the investigation.
01:15Arriving on the island, the two find the village completely destroyed. Nagamine doesn't believe it was
01:21caused by a bird, but among the debris, she finds the droppings of a bird, the size of which she has
01:26never seen before. When she analyzes it, she finds the pen and glasses of her colleague, Professor
01:31Harada, who had left a few days ago to do research on the island. She then sets off to investigate the
01:37island's forest, alongside Osaka, until they both see a monster with wings crossing the skies.
01:42Now that they know of the creature's existence, Nagamine and Osaka return to the helicopter and set
01:47off to warn the authorities. On the way, the monster reappears and, without hesitation,
01:53the young woman starts taking pictures of it with her camera. At this point, the creature is annoyed
01:57by the effect of the flashes and Nagamine takes the opportunity to take more photos. Shortly
02:02afterwards, two military jets fly over the island, forcing the monster to return to its hiding place,
02:08where it finds two more of its kind. Back with the research team, Mr. Kusanagi tells them that he has
02:13found the atoll submerged and moving quickly. The group then docks the ship on the piece of land and,
02:18while exploring the site, Yoshinari finds a small metal object, shaped like a kama. More members of
02:24the group find the same object scattered around the atoll and decide to keep it in a box for analysis.
02:30Then Mr. Kusanagi discovers a sharp structure stuck in the ground and, with the help of the group,
02:35he begins to dig it out. The next day, Nagamine is still in shock at having seen the monster and at the
02:40loss of Professor Harada. She no longer wants to hear about the investigation, but Osaka insists
02:46that she accompany him to the police station, as the environmental council has summoned her to find
02:50out more. Once there, the leader of the council gives the young woman the mission of putting
02:55together a plan to capture the monsters before they claim any more victims. Without any of them
03:00suspecting it, the appearance of these monsters seems to have something to do with the atoll found
03:05in the sea. Meanwhile, Yoshinari and the rest of the team have finished digging up the object,
03:09which turns out to be a totem with mysterious inscriptions. When he takes a closer look,
03:14he feels the stone's temperature rise and hears a sound that resembles a heartbeat.
03:19Seconds later, the totem breaks and the entire atoll begins to shake and emit lights everywhere.
03:24All this movement causes Yoshinari to fall into the sea, where he discovers that the atoll is
03:29actually a kaiju. Far away, Osaka and Nagamine try to come up with a plan to capture the flying
03:34monsters. After some thought, the inspector sees an article in the newspaper and has the idea
03:39of luring the monsters to the baseball stadium, where they can capture them with tranquilizers.
03:44The two then pass on the plans to the army, which sets up a military base and equips the stadium
03:49with cages. Once they've finished setting the trap, the second step is to send soldiers in
03:54helicopters to lure the birds to the stadium. But suddenly, another helicopter appears at the
03:59stadium, bringing Yoshinari, who wants to talk to the council about what he discovered at sea.
04:03When he meets Nagamine and the leaders, he warns them that a monster 60 meters high is coming towards
04:09the city. Seconds later, the army's radar picks up a signal from the monster, which is getting
04:14closer and closer to the coast. Meanwhile, the council goes ahead with the plan to capture the
04:19flying monsters and Nagamine rushes to the stadium to check the tranquilizer darts. Shortly afterwards,
04:25army helicopters arrive at the stadium, luring the three giant birds onto the pitch. Then,
04:30under Nagamine's command, they turn on the floodlights, leaving the monsters bewildered and
04:35forcing them to land in the stadium. There, the creatures find huge chunks of meat placed on the
04:40ground and begin to feed. However, it was all a trap designed to catch them and, while they were
04:45eating, the army had the roof of the stadium sealed off. Now all they have to do is wait until
04:50the place is closed and fire the tranquilizers at the monsters. However, the soldiers end up rushing
04:55in and shooting at the birds, with one of them being hit hard and falling unconscious to the ground.
05:00However, this ends up infuriating the second monster, which flies towards the soldiers at
05:05high speed. Even with the shots, the monster continues to advance, so the army fights back,
05:10setting off the lamps to obstruct its view. With shots followed by tranquilizer darts,
05:15the soldiers manage to capture two of the monsters. However, the third escapes through the opening
05:20before the stadium closes completely and heads for the coast. To his surprise, the creature encounters
05:25the kaiju, which turns out to be in the shape of a giant turtle. With a single blow, the powerful
05:31monster defeats him and advances towards the city, destroying everything in its path. At the sight of
05:36the kaiju, the townspeople run for their lives and the head of the environmental council calls in the
05:41secretary of defense to decide what to do. They need to hurry, because the giant turtle is heading
05:46towards the city center. More precisely, towards the baseball stadium. The council leaders order the
05:51entire team to evacuate the camp and transport the cages, but it's too late and the kaiju arrives
05:56on the scene. Everything indicates that he is after the imprisoned monsters who, on seeing the
06:01enormous creature, begin to emit a strong sound wave. Thanks to this, the creatures manage to break
06:07through the cages and escape through the roof of the stadium. Even so, the kaiju doesn't intend to
06:12give up its hunt, so it shrinks into its shell and fires powerful jets through the openings,
06:16spinning at sonic speed, as if it were a flying saucer. The two monsters have disappeared and
06:22the conflict is over for the time being, but the Japanese government is issuing an emergency
06:26warning on television. In order to protect the population, Congress intends to vote on the
06:31involvement of the military in the conflict and is asking residents to stay in their homes.
06:35In the meantime, Yoshinari goes to Mr. Kusanagi's house to talk about the inscriptions he found on
06:41the totem. He suspects that they are the key to explaining what the kaiju is, where it came from and what
06:46its purpose is. Mr. Kusanagi then shows that he had already asked for a translation and found out
06:51about the inscriptions, which are actually runes. They tell of an entity called Gamera, a being
06:56created as the planet's last hope against the great evil known as Gouts. Upon hearing this, Yoshinari
07:02remembers the kama-shaped object and gives it to Mr. Kusanagi's daughter, the young Asagi, as a gift.
07:08Her father doesn't think it's a good idea, as the object might have some hidden energy in it,
07:12but she decides to keep it because its shape is reminiscent of what she's seen in books about the
07:16legend of Atlantis. According to the books, this object is Orocalco, an energy source that allowed
07:22Atlantis to create unimaginable technologies. If this is true, Gamera could be a creation of the
07:27lost city, as a supreme life form to protect the world from great threats. In addition to the Orocalco,
07:34Yoshinari deduces that Gamera is fueled by radioactive products, which explains why he ran the
07:39plutonium ship aground. In addition, when Gamera's name is mentioned, the Orocalco in Asagi's hand
07:45begins to glow. Finally, Mr. Kusanagi says that this great evil, the Gouts, must be the flying
07:50monsters that have appeared on the island. If this is true, Gamera is not the threat, but the salvation
07:56of humanity and the only being capable of stopping them. Another day passes and Yoshinari goes to the
08:01zoo to tell Nagamine what she has discovered, but she has gone to Hinagami Island with Inspector Osako.
08:06At night, the young woman goes to look for the bird's nest, but finds only lifeless chicks and
08:12it seems that they have devoured each other for lack of food. After that, she heads back to the
08:16city, where she attends a meeting with the army, the environmental council and Mr. Kusanagi. She
08:21discovers that the remaining Gouts are all female and, as the chicks have been eliminated, the two
08:26escapees are the last of their kind. Mr. Kusanagi also shows the translation of the runes and tries
08:32to convince everyone that Gamera is not the real threat. However, the council leaders
08:36don't believe this and fear that the kaiju will soon return to cause more destruction.
08:41As soon as the meeting is over, the navy picks up the movement of Gamera, which dives out of the sea
08:46and advances at high speed through the skies. Following the route, they believe that the kaiju
08:51is heading towards Kiso Mountain and Nagamine sets off to investigate. Yoshinari and Mr. Kusanagi also set
08:57off, with the officer fearing that something might happen to her. When they arrive at the nearest village,
09:03the two discover that the Gouts have attacked the place and all the residents are evacuating the area.
09:08Then he sees a security guard holding a woman who is trying to cross the bridge to rescue her son.
09:13Luckily, Nagamine manages to find the boy and the two set off to cross the bridge,
09:17but behind them, Gouts reappears. Yoshinari runs to help her, but Nagamine ends up tripping on the bridge
09:23and her foot gets stuck in a hole. Frightened, the boy begins to cry and his screams attract the
09:28attention of the monster, which advances towards the two of them. Yoshinari quickly helps them up
09:33and stands in front of them to protect them from the monster. Just when all seemed lost,
09:38a fireball is fired at the creature, which narrowly manages to dodge it. Soon after, everyone hears a
09:43loud roar coming from Gamera, who fires another fireball at the Gouts, leaving it in pieces.
09:49Then another giant bird appears and unleashes a sonic blast at the bridge, but Gamera puts his
09:53paw towards the beam, protecting Yoshinari and Nagamine. Thanks to this, the two flee the island
09:59and return the boy to his mother, while the kaiju, even wounded, flies off to capture Gouts.
10:05After this conflict, Yoshinari is sure that Gamera is not a threat and must warn the military
10:09before they attack him. Not only that, but the creature seems to have a mysterious connection with
10:14Asagi, who is wearing the oricalco as a pendant. She is returning home by train when she notices that
10:20her right hand has suddenly been injured, as has Gamera's paw. Somehow, the mysterious object is
10:25connecting the girl's life to that of the kaiju and, if anything happens to it, Asagi will be in
10:30danger. Things only get worse when the press announces the end of the congressional vote,
10:34which authorized the use of military forces not only against the Gouts, but also against Gamera.
10:40Then, with powerful weaponry, the army takes aim at the kaiju, which is chasing the giant bird in the
10:45skies. When they spot Gamera, they fire guided missiles at the kaiju, which is hit hard and
10:51falls into Mount Fuji. The attack is reported in the newspaper and, when she hears about it,
10:56Asagi hurries to get a cab and asks it to drop her off as close to the mountain as possible.
11:01As the girl makes her way there, dozens of tanks and armed soldiers begin to surround Mount Fuji.
11:06After firing signal flashes, they locate Gamera and start shooting, with the kaiju screaming in pain.
11:11Minutes after the attack, the taxi driver drops Asagi off on the bridge, where the girl sees
11:16Gamera trying to resist the army's torpedoes. Despite his resistance, more military jets fly
11:22over and fire dozens of torpedoes at the kaiju. The force of the explosions knocks Gamera to the
11:27ground and, due to the weight of its shell, the huge turtle is unable to get up. In the midst of the
11:32attack, Gouts takes advantage of the fact that his opponent is defenseless and advances towards
11:37Gamera to eliminate him once and for all. Desperate, Asagi holds the pendant with the
11:42Orakalko and begs the kaiju to get away before it's too late. However, Gouts fires a sonic ray and
11:48hits Gamera's paw again, which also wounds Asagi's arm. The monster then prepares for its final attack,
11:54but Gamera uses its jets to escape and, even with the army firing more torpedoes, the kaiju manages to
12:00escape. After that, the pendant stops glowing and Asagi faints, with the taxi driver rushing to take
12:06her to hospital. Hours later, her father is informed of what has happened and rushes to
12:11find his daughter in hospital, but even though she is safe, the girl feels as tired as Gamera and
12:16falls asleep in bed. Far away, Yoshinari and Nagamine go to talk to the council about stopping
12:21the attack on Gamera. However, the leaders are determined not only to destroy the kaiju,
12:26but also to capture the Gouts because of its rarity. The pair don't accept the decision and Nagamine
12:32goes after more information to prove that the Gouts are the real threat.
12:35She then sends one of the monster's samples to her lab colleague and discovers that the Gouts
12:39can recombine their genetic code. Thanks to this, they are able to change the X and Y
12:44factor of their chromosomes and reproduce asexually. In this way, it's only a matter of time before
12:49other monsters of the species are created and the whole world is infested by the Gouts.
12:54The analysis continues and Nagamine fears that the monster will develop rapidly, increasing in size
12:59and becoming more resistant. Her theory soon becomes true when the Gouts begins to grow and
13:04flies towards the city. Once there, the creature captures one of the subway cars, which is full
13:09of young students. Without pity or mercy, the monster devours them all and then sets up a nest
13:15in the middle of the city and falls into a deep sleep. The news soon reaches the military council
13:20who, faced with such chaos, give up on the idea of capturing Gouts. They then summon Nagamine to help
13:25them come up with a new plan and she suggests attacking it during the day, using sunlight to weaken the
13:30monster. The army follows her advice and orders the evacuation of the entire population.
13:36With everyone safe, the military authorizes the firing of torpedoes at the creature,
13:40but even the massive explosions are not enough to harm it. Even so, the impact awakens the monster and
13:46it flies over the city, with the army launching more guided missiles at it. Despite the effort,
13:51Gouts flies towards the Tokyo Tower and dodges the missile, causing the explosion to hit the huge
13:56structure, which is torn to pieces. Not satisfied, the creature uses the base of the tower as its
14:02newest nest and falls asleep, certain that no weapon will be able to stop it. This situation only
14:07makes the entire council desperate and they order another evacuation, this time of the whole of Tokyo.
14:13Even so, it will take weeks for the residents to leave and it is likely that the monster will
14:17wake up before then, causing even more destruction. In another part of town, Mr. Kusanagi goes to check
14:23on his daughter, but she is still in a deep sleep. Suddenly, the oricalco on the pendant glows again
14:28and the girl wakes up, at the same time as Gamera awakes at the bottom of the sea, cured of his
14:33injuries. The next morning, Mr. Kusanagi decides to take his daughter to the army headquarters,
14:39where he meets Yoshinari and Nagamine. He says that, thanks to the pendant, his daughter has become
14:44a kind of priestess of Gamera and the girl senses that the kaiju will be arriving soon. Seconds later,
14:49the entire ground of the city begins to shake, the roads break up and the buildings collapse to the
14:54ground, due to an unconscionable force. All this shaking wakes Gouts up and out from under the ground
15:00comes Gamera, who quickly fires a fireball at the monster. The creature manages to dodge, but the
15:05shot hits its nest and the eggs are completely destroyed by the attack. Furious, Gouts lures Gamera
15:11to the city and, in a surprise attack, he fires his sonic ray, hitting the kaiju in the face.
15:16This blow also causes a wound to Asagi's face, but she still asks her father to see if Gamera is
15:23alright. So, together with Yoshinari and Nagamine, they take off in a helicopter to the center of the
15:28city, which has become a battlefield. When they arrive, they see Gamera, who has recovered from
15:33the blow and is advancing towards Gouts, starting a battle between giants to decide the fate of the
15:38planet. With his strength and endurance, Gouts pushes Gamera towards the building, leaving him dazed.
15:43As soon as he's back on his feet, the kaiju presses his opponent with quick attacks from his claws,
15:49forcing Gouts to fly to avoid the blows. The monster then uses its giant claws to strike Gamera in the
15:55face. However, the kaiju still has a card up its sleeve and releases a retractable fang, hidden in
16:00the elbow area. With it, Gamera hits the body of his rival, who screams in pain and fires a sonic ray,
16:07causing the building to collapse in on itself. Despite this, Gouts doesn't give up and flies into the sky,
16:12with Gamera chasing after him. The two monsters fly off into space and the kaiju grabs the monster
16:18from behind, biting its neck straight away. The Gouts tries to break free and shoots lightning
16:23everywhere, hitting Gamera in the face. Despite his injuries, the kaiju doesn't let go of the monster
16:28and, with a powerful bite, he removes a piece of its paw. The attack leaves Gouts seriously injured,
16:34but he manages to get rid of Gamera, who falls to the ground, on top of a nuclear power industry.
16:40The whole place begins to explode and Gouts fires his lightning bolts to set the whole area ablaze.
16:45Watching from afar, Yoshinari and the others land the helicopter and see the factory in flames,
16:51fearing that Gamera has been eliminated forever. However, Asagi believes that the kaiju will not be
16:56defeated and, with the pendant in her hands, she asks Gamera to stand up once again. Thanks to the
17:01connection between the monster and the girl, Gamera gets up and absorbs all the flames around the factory.
17:07With this energy gathered, the kaiju concentrates it into a gigantic fireball and fires it at the
17:12Gouts. The creature tries to resist, but even its resistant body can't withstand Gamera's power and
17:18it explodes, ending the Gouts race once and for all. Finally, the battle is over and Gamera, in
17:23gratitude, releases Asagi from their bond and restores her wounds. Now that the world is safe,
17:29the kaiju returns to the sea, but Asagi knows that one day Gamera will return when the planet needs
17:34his help once more. So what did you think of this movie? Leave it in the comments below.
