00:00During a mining expedition on a newly discovered planet, the robot Murderbot is sent on a mission
00:05to protect the miners from any kind of danger. The security unit was developed to obey humans,
00:10but it soon realized that its superiors are actually insane. So Murderbot has spent the
00:14last six months trying to hack the regulator module that was installed in his head, so that
00:19the machine could stop being a prisoner of humans. Recently, Murderbot managed to isolate an
00:24administrator password and is trying to use it to break the encryption of the final kernel.
00:28By doing this, the robot gets rid of the regulator module and starts to take control of its own
00:33actions. However, instead of eliminating all those people and escaping, Murderbot decides to continue
00:39working for the same company that imprisoned him. The robot is aware that when they discover it is a
00:43rebel, its creators will track it down and destroy its organic parts and then sell the remaining parts
00:49as scrap. So the machine decides to save time and ends up being assigned to work for a new group of
00:54people. Their new masters are a bunch of hippie scientists from some tiny planet in the middle
00:58of nowhere called the Preservation Alliance. The group goes to the free commerce port to try to
01:03finance and secure their shipment, but to do so, they will have to be accompanied by a uniseg who
01:08will supervise them. Although they are not comfortable with the idea of a sentient machine being forced to
01:13work, the scientists have no choice but to take the robot with them. After carrying out a security
01:18inspection of the shelter that the corporation RIM has installed on the new planet, Murderbot begins
01:23to observe the humans and is confused to see them making aesthetic modifications to the standard
01:27habitat, as there is no definite purpose to it. Over the days, the actions of that group of people
01:32made even less sense to the robot's eyes, but over time, the machine managed to gather enough
01:37information about each member of the expedition. As Murderbot's regulator module had been hacked,
01:43it acquired the ability to access the entertainment channels of the company that designed it.
01:46After watching 7,532 hours of content, the machine came to better understand how humans work and
01:53finally discovered what fun is. One day, while observing Professor Baradwidge and Dr. Arada
01:58excavating a crater, Uniseg identifies the presence of a possible anomaly and orders the researchers to
02:04return to the surface. However, the pair decide to ignore the robot and end up being attacked by a
02:09giant alien insect. Seeing the scientists in danger, Murderbot immediately goes to protect them and
02:15starts shooting at the monster. During the battle, the robot ends up being swallowed and uses its
02:20weapon to open a hole in the creature's body. At this point, Murderbot discovers that the monster
02:25has two heads and shoots it repeatedly until his enemy decides to release it and go back underground.
02:30Uniseg immediately picks up Professor Baradwidge's body and doesn't even realize that half of it has
02:35been devoured. When it realizes how desperate Arada is, the robot removes its mask and tries to use its
02:41human face to reassure the professor that it will take her safely to the shelter. After receiving the
02:46attack alert, Ada lands the ship in the crater and Murderbot is surprised to see the commotion
02:50generated in the other scientists when they discover that their co-worker is injured. While Baradwidge
02:55receives medical care, the robot tries to understand why those humans are so different from everyone else
03:00he has ever met. Now that it has revealed its face and acted completely against its programming,
03:06the machine begins to wonder if those scientists will denounce it to the council members and considers
03:11the idea of getting rid of each and every one of them. The problem is that, with that ship, the robot
03:16wouldn't be able to travel to another planet, so he decides to wait a little longer to decide what to do
03:20with his freedom. When she arrives at the shelter, Ada shows that she is worried about Murderbot and says
03:26that he is out of commission until he can recover. In fact, the only one who has noticed Uniseg's unusual
03:31behavior is Garathan, who tries to convince his colleagues to turn it off. However, even knowing that the
03:37machine is acting against its own programming and could revolt at any moment, Ada is still resistant
03:42to the idea of getting rid of the robot that saved the life of one of her colleagues. What none of the
03:46team imagined was that they were being watched by Murderbot, who saw and heard the entire conversation
03:51via the shelter's security cameras while their organic parts were being reprinted. During the repair,
03:56Uniseg receives a call to join the scientists for a meeting and has to wear one of the suits worn by humans,
04:01since his armor has not yet been repaired. When he joins the humans, Murderbot is surprised by
04:07applause and congratulations for his bravery on the battlefield. This is the first time the robot
04:12has received recognition for his work and he is confused about how to react to the situation.
04:16Murderbot then helps the humans map the area to see if there are other monsters like the giant
04:21insect nearby and manages to hide the fact that it is a defective machine. In the evening, Dr. Ada goes to
04:27check that Murderbot is alright and says that if he needs anything during the night,
04:30he can send an alert at any time. After disabling the shelter's security cameras,
04:35Garathan meets with the team to find out what is going on. During the conversation,
04:40Ada volunteers to investigate the areas that have been erased from the map they received from the
04:44company sponsoring the expedition. Convinced that Uniseg poses a threat to humans, Garathan says they
04:50need to keep him out of the way until they return to free commerce. When he gets there, the man intends
04:55to report the problems the robot has been presenting and then it will be inactivated. During the secret
05:00meeting, Varadwidge shows up and her friends are surprised to realize that she has fully recovered.
05:05The next morning, when he wakes up, Murderbot discovers that the scientists have made the
05:09decision to explore the area without him and decides to use the data mining software to monitor them.
05:14While Ada and Varadwidge carry out the clearing mission, Garathan decides to stay in the shelter
05:19and calls the robot for a private chat. At this point, the scientist reveals why he advised Dr. Ada not
05:25to take Murderbot on that mission and says he feels there is something wrong with that machine.
05:29Upon arriving in one of the areas not described on the official map, Ada asks Varadwidge to stay
05:34on the ship in case they need to flee from a monster in a hurry. According to the doctor,
05:39Garathan has recorded the sound footprints of some creatures that live on that planet,
05:43so if Varadwidge hears anything approaching, she should warn Ada immediately.
05:47Also during the conversation with Murderbot, Garathan reveals that in the Preservation Alliance,
05:52the town where he and his team came from, there are no unisegs. For them,
05:56ice and constructs are considered people, so they should have the same rights as humans
06:00instead of being forced to work for them. A little over six years ago, Garathan joined
06:06the Alliance because he was friends with Dr. Ada, but he doesn't share the same philosophy as his
06:10colleagues. As such, the scientist sees no problem in giving Murderbot direct orders and demands that
06:16the robot maintain eye contact every time it talks to him. On hearing this, Murderbot feels
06:21uncomfortable, as he has always avoided making eye contact with humans. However, in order to prevent
06:26his disguise from being discovered, he is forced to carry out Garathan's requests. Curious to know
06:32how Uniseg learned to simulate interpersonal relationships, the scientist starts asking
06:37compromising questions and Murderbot says he wishes he could answer them, but his memory has
06:41recently been erased. What the council members haven't revealed to the expedition team is that Murderbot
06:46is a rebellious robot that has had its memory erased after mercilessly attacking the last humans it
06:51worked for. Luckily, Uniseg receives a security alert from the ship that Dr. Ada and Professor
06:57Baradwidge are in danger. As she climbs up the slope around the crater, Ada begins to feel difficulty
07:02breathing and tries to contact the ship, but her communicator's connection is interrupted.
07:07On seeing the images captured by the drone, Murderbot soon identifies that the woman is suffering
07:12from a panic attack, but she is too stubborn to go back and decides to continue the mission even
07:16though she is not in the best physical or mental condition to do so. Concerned for the woman's
07:21safety, the robot decides to contact her and informs her that it has detected a potential threat in the
07:26area. However, instead of stopping what she's doing and returning to the ship, Ada decides to continue
07:31her journey, as she doesn't want to waste all the effort she's put into getting there. As she crawls
07:36towards the top, the doctor hears a roar and decides to return to the ship and Baradwidge reveals that
07:41her sensors are detecting a vibration that matches the pattern of the first animal attack.
07:45Looking back, Ada comes across the giant insect and panics. But for some reason, instead of attacking
07:51her, the monster jumps straight into the crater next to her and ends up losing its life in the process.
07:57Curious to know what happened, the scientist decides to take a look and comes across the bodies of
08:01dozens of monsters. At that moment, Baradwidge flies her support drone over the crater, but when it
08:07crosses an energy field, the drone explodes. After surviving a possible attack, Dr. Ada immediately
08:13returns to the ship and manages to reach the shelter safely. That afternoon, the team discusses
08:18what might have attracted those monsters to that area, as it is likely that the same thing that
08:22attracted them also caused them to be eliminated. The theory put forward by Ratthe is that synthetic
08:27aliens that were sent to that planet hundreds of years ago caused the interruption in the satellite
08:31signal and the explosion of the drone. Garathan believes that these machines are so valuable
08:36that the members of the Corporation Rim Council don't want anyone to know of their existence.
08:41Worried about the members of the Deltfall expedition, Ada decides to notify them of the
08:45discovery, but Murderbot tries to think of a plan to stop them. If the members of the council are
08:50informed of this discovery, those scientists will be eliminated immediately and, consequently,
08:55the robot will be discarded, as it will bear the blame for the actions of the humans.
09:00When she tries to contact the other team, Ada's call goes unanswered, as all the members of the
09:05Deltfall expedition have been eliminated, including the uniseg that was sent to protect them.
09:10Believing that the shelter has no signal, Ada decides to go there with her friends to take a
09:15look and, this time, decides to take Murderbot to ensure the group's safety. During the trip,
09:20the robot checks the Preservation Alliance's habitat via satellite and realizes that Baradwidge is crying.
09:26Although she has recovered well physically, the woman is emotionally shaken and shows symptoms of
09:30post-traumatic stress. Even now that her health has been restored, she still sees that creature
09:35coming out of the ground and crawling towards her. Seeing his co-worker visibly shaken,
09:40Garathan approaches her to try to console her, but his empathic ability is almost as bad as Murderbot's.
09:46After walking away from the professor, the man sneaks into Ada's room and starts sniffing her pillow.
09:51When he comes across this scene, Uniseg is confused, as he was convinced that Garathan was a spy
09:56from the corporation's rim. Suddenly, the satellite signal is interrupted and Murderbot alerts the team
10:02to the possible danger that awaits them on the other side of the planet. At this point,
10:06Ada talks to the other scientists to decide whether to continue the mission and Arada says that if the
10:11members of the Delft Fall expedition are in need of help, they should go there to save them.
10:15While piloting the ship, Dr. Ada asks Murderbot to keep her company and wonders what will happen if
10:20the entire Delft Fall team has been devoured. Despite knowing that this is a likely alternative,
10:25the robot tries to reassure the woman and advises her to get some rest,
10:29as they are still two hours away from the base. However, as she's anxious to find out what happened,
10:34Ada says she can't sleep and reveals that she's worried because some of her colleagues in the
10:39preservation alliance are considering the idea of joining the corporation rim.
10:43When he hears the woman's outbursts, Murderbot feels uncomfortable, as he doesn't like being
10:47treated like a human, and soon finds some other task to occupy himself. The machine feels bad when it
10:53realizes that the scientists are trying at all costs to humanize it and strives to maintain
10:57as mechanized a relationship with them as possible. In the morning, when the group approaches the
11:02Delft Fall habitat, the robot scans the site and discovers that there are 15 humans living in that
11:07shelter along with three unisegs. Before landing, Ada tries to contact the base again, but once again
11:13she gets no response. Murderbot therefore recommends that the scientists land outside the perimeter so as
11:18not to put themselves at risk if all the people in the shelter have been devoured. As it has been unable
11:23to pick up any signal from the unisegs that were supposed to be patrolling the area, the robot is
11:28increasingly convinced that the site has been the target of an attack. After landing, the scientists
11:33grab their weapons to leave and search the perimeter, but Rathi remains in the ship to provide
11:37assistance if necessary. While walking in the forest, Murderbot spots some footprints in the mud and decides
11:43to go ahead alone so as not to endanger the lives of the humans. As he approaches the shelter,
11:48the robot prepares to blow up the door, but soon realizes that it is open and manages to get in
11:53without any effort. As he walks through the corridors, he comes across one of the security
11:57units completely destroyed and his suspicions are confirmed. At that moment, Murderbot thinks about
12:03running away and saving only his own skin, but something inside him makes him go on to find out
12:08what happened there. Seeing all the bodies of those people, the robot orders Ada and her team to return
12:13to the ship immediately and doesn't tell them about the terrible scene he have just witnessed.
12:17Even so, the doctor realizes that something is wrong and orders Uniseg to leave the shelter.
12:23At that moment, the connection is interrupted and the woman begins to worry about Murderbot's safety.
12:28Analyzing the whole scene of destruction, the robot comes to the conclusion that one of the
12:32three security units has rebelled and the others have been destroyed trying to stop it from hurting
12:36the humans. While observing the bodies scattered around the base, Murderbot is attacked by the robot
12:42that has rebelled and the two start a battle. Despite the fact that he's dueling against a superior
12:46and more advanced Uniseg model, Murderbot knows that his opponent has taken a lot of damage,
12:51so he's convinced that he can defeat him. After a few shots, Murderbot finally manages to immobilize
12:57his opponent and discovers that someone has taken control of that Uniseg. Uniseg factories are terrible
13:03places that rely on cheap human labor to maintain themselves. As well as having to face exhausting work
13:08routines in a totally unhealthy environment, the employees have to be on their guard at all times,
13:13because at any moment one of those machines could rebel. After knocking out the robot that attacked
13:18him, Murderbot ends up being knocked down by the person who took control of Uniseg and is dragged to
13:23an operating table. Meanwhile, Pin Lee and her friends start looking for Ada in the forest,
13:28as they realize that their leader has disappeared. When she finally manages to find her, Pin Lee tries
13:33to convince the woman to return to the ship, but Ada refuses to leave one of her companions behind.
13:38The doctor orders her subordinate to return to the ship and walks alone towards the shelter.
13:43At that moment, Murderbot is lying on the stretcher and wakes up without understanding what is
13:47happening. Frightened, the robot feels like screaming for help, but realizes that its voice box is turned
13:53off, unlike its pain sensors. While trying to find a way out of the situation, Murderbot sees his enemy
13:59holding a combat replacement module and realizes that this was the device used to control the Uniseg that
14:04attacked him. If that device is installed in his body, Murderbot will lose all his autonomy and will
14:09once again be controlled by humans. So the machine decides to gather all the strength it has left to
14:15fight back and starts a new battle. This time, however, he faces a much more skilled opponent and
14:20ends up losing the battle. After immobilizing the robot, the man installs the new replacement module and
14:26starts the upgrade. In about 10 minutes, Murderbot will be under the total control of his new master
14:31and his memory will be erased so that he won't remember what happened. However, before the upgrade
14:36was completed, Ada appeared and pierced the masked enemy's torso with a drill. After getting rid of the
14:41threat, the woman helps Murderbot to his feet and the robot senses that there is something important he
14:46should tell her, but he can't remember what it is. When he discovers that his leader has been left
14:51behind, Ratley grabs a gun and decides to go after her. At that moment, Dr. Ada is looking for a safe
14:57way out while Murderbot is totally confused. His ability to discern between imagination and
15:02reality has been completely affected by the device, so when he sees his enemy approaching once again,
15:07his only reaction is to try and run away before he is shot. Just then, Ratley arrives on the scene
15:13and hears her leader's plea for help, but he can't open the door to the shelter. Hearing her enemy
15:18approaching, Ada locks herself in a room and manages to find a gun. After knocking down the door,
15:23the hunter prepares to shoot, but ends up being hit by a shot and collapses once again.
15:28Relieved to have managed to get rid of the threat, Ada bursts through the door and drags
15:32Murderbot towards the forest. At this point, she ends up being caught by Ratley and the man is
15:37scolded for leaving the ship. Suddenly, the creature that was chasing the doctor appears again and is
15:42about to eliminate the humans when Pin Lee and Arada show up. The pair are in control of the ship and
15:48use the vehicle to crush the enemy robot. At the end of the battle, Ratley, who was unable to land a
15:53single shot on his opponent, celebrates his victory and Ada checks that Murderbot is okay.
15:58Now that its enemy has been destroyed, Uniseg manages to pull out the combat replacement module,
16:03but now it's too late. More than 10 minutes have passed since the device was installed,
16:08so it had already done its job when it was removed. When he realizes that his programming has been
16:12tampered with, Murderbot orders the scientists to eliminate him, because in a few seconds the data
16:17module that has been inserted into his system will start operating. However, even though they know
16:22their lives are in danger, the humans refuse to eliminate a member of their team. So Murderbot
16:27takes the gun from Ada's hands and shoots himself in the chest. Seeing the injured Uniseg, the doctor
16:33asks the other members of her team to help her take him to the habitat in the hope that Garathan will be
16:37able to fix him. While her friends are trying to get Murderbot's body inside the ship, Arada sees
16:42someone approaching and shoots to defend herself. However, after the attack, she realizes that she is
16:48facing a member of the Delt Fall expedition and rushes to her aid. That afternoon, Libibi joins the
16:54members of the Preservation Alliance and is taken to the shelter along with Murderbot. Even knowing
16:58that the robot has had its software corrupted, the humans do everything they can to bring it back,
17:03which is not a wise decision since, as soon as it wakes up, Murderbot's programming will make it
17:08attack all those people. Upon discovering that the tentacles left by the device are preventing it from
17:13rebooting. Professor Baradwidge takes a technological glove to remove the fragments and then Garathan
17:18connects to the system in order to trace any corrupted code. Minutes later, Murderbot wakes
17:23up, but he can't move because Garathan has immobilized his central system to ensure the team's
17:28safety. According to him, that unit had already hacked its own regulator module before the attack,
17:34which means that the team never had control over the robot. However, for Baradwidge, this is yet
17:39another reason to trust that Uniseg, because even though he has the autonomy to act as he pleases,
17:44he has decided to protect the scientists from any threat that has come their way since they arrived
17:48on that planet. At this point, the team begins to wonder if Corporation Edge is trying to sabotage
17:53the mission to eliminate them, but Murderbot says no, because the company has a financial interest in
17:58keeping them alive. The compensation for the loss of each member of the expedition would be extremely
18:03high, which would generate losses for the corporation. Unlike all his companions, Garathan
18:09is the only one who believes that Uniseg should remain immobile. However, Murderbot manages to hack
18:15the command flow of the central system and leaves after revealing how he feels about Garathan.
18:20Seeing the robot walking away, Ada goes after him and invites him to become an official member of her
18:24group, as she considers him a great friend. Especially now that she knows that Uniseg has voluntarily
18:30sacrificed himself to save them, the doctor wants to keep him close, at least until they get off that
18:35planet and reach a safe place. With the promise that Murderbot's secret will be kept in that room
18:40and no one outside will know about the hacked regulator module. Mansa manages to make a deal
18:45with the machine and activates the emergency beacon to request Orla's help. However, Garathan reveals
18:50that he is unable to turn the beacon on remotely, so Murderbot volunteers to go there and turn it on
18:55manually. To get there, he had to fly the ship, so Ada decides to accompany him and spends most of the trip
19:01talking about her children. As they were about to arrive at the lighthouse, the pilot asked if Murderbot
19:06had any guesses as to who was responsible for eliminating all those Deltfall scientists, because if Orla
19:12didn't do it, there must be a third party involved. Given the facts, the theory most accepted by Uniseg is
19:18that there was an infiltrator on the expedition, as there was no sign of forced entry into the shelter.
19:22However, Ada suggests a new hypothesis and says that the invader managed to enter Deltfall after
19:28introducing himself as a member of the Preservation Alliance. Thanks to the hospitality of the other
19:33scientists, the imposter managed to infiltrate the base with the aim of eliminating everyone there.
19:38After a few hours of travel, Murderbot managed to see the lighthouse and gave Ada the coordinates to
19:43land near it. However, as they are approaching the structure, an explosion occurs and the ship the
19:49duo are on crashes. So what did you think of this series? Leave it in the comments below. And if
