00:00I'm Murray McCauley from the University and College Union and I'm standing outside
00:04Haventon South Downs College today because UCU and NEU members are taking
00:09strike action and the reason we are taking strike action is because of the
00:14redundancies and huge job cuts at this college because of the failure of the
00:19leadership of the college to have due control of their finances. This college is facing a financial crisis, it is not the same across the further
00:28education sector so we are taking strike action to protest against the
00:33redundancies and to say we want stable and responsible leadership for this
00:38college so that our members and these students are not facing cuts like this
00:42again in future. Tell me what the reaction has been like this morning just from not
00:46only the members but also you know the the public? We've had really good levels of
00:51support our action this morning we've had lots of union members from UCU and NEU
00:57taking strike action and we've had lots of support from members of the public from
01:01people cheering and honking their their horns and messages of support on social media.
