UNISON members strike in schools across Inverness

Hundreds of local government workers from UNISON have reluctantly walked out on strike after an ongoing dispute over pay.

00:04 We are doing this because we think we deserve to be paid more money at our pay rise and

00:11 they are subsisting for improvement just because they have more money so they are able to make

00:18 more money for us. For the work we do especially, we think we deserve more.

00:20 Has there been any support for parents and children that may have been affected by this?

00:25 Many of us are parents so this isn't a short term action, this is for the future, this

00:32 is for children. This is so that they can get decent pay when they are older. So this

00:37 is a long term game.

00:39 How do you feel about other unions suspending action whilst Unison continues?

00:44 I think we should all be united together really and we should all be taking a stand together

00:50 because we are fighting amongst the unions, not in the end. They are basically belittling

00:56 each other and the unions are all putting each other down. We should be together standing
