00:00Finally, five years after Brexit,
00:04Gibraltar's 34,000 residents have a deal.
00:0896% of residents voted against leaving the EU
00:12and they've been dealing with the consequences of Brexit ever since.
00:16This is a good arrangement
00:20that deals with the complexity
00:24of the current arrangements that mean that people have
00:28queued for hours and has harmed the certainty
00:32that business needs. Getting to agreement has
00:36been difficult. Its border with Spain and the overall status
00:40have been key sticking points. 1,500 people
00:44cross the border for work or pleasure every day and with a planned
00:48EU entry-exit system due later this year,
00:52there were fears of chaos at the border. This agreement also
00:56clearly reflects a strategic
00:58and cooperative approach
01:00aimed at strengthening our
01:02relations in the context
01:04of the UK's departure from the EU
01:06and I would even say it
01:08reinforces a new chapter
01:10in our relationship.
01:12Negotiations were
01:14sensitive as Spain technically
01:16never ceded sovereignty of the territory. The British
01:20Foreign Minister called the deal a breakthrough
01:22and said it delivered a practical solution
01:24after years of uncertainty.
01:26I don't know
01:28I don't know
01:30my mind
01:32but I'm so sorry
01:34but I didn't know
01:36that today
01:38we should say
01:40that today
01:42I could say
01:44I came to be
01:46what I did
01:48but
