00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Thunderstorm warnings have been issued across the West Country, Wales as well as Northern
00:08Ireland through tonight and into tomorrow.
00:11The reason why?
00:12Well, the air is coming in from a very warm and humid place across the near continent.
00:17Notice through Thursday quite a squeeze on the ice bars so we will see some strong winds
00:21particularly towards the east and associated with any intense downpours as this system
00:26slowly moves its way northwards.
00:28Water come through Friday and into Saturday.
00:31This time the emphasis will be across central and eastern parts of England again pushing
00:35ever northwards.
00:36Let's have a look at the warning zones though into tomorrow.
00:40The West Country and Wales particularly central and western areas as well as Northern Ireland
00:45and you can see the intense burst just moving northwards represented by these very bright
00:51echoes.
00:52Further thunderstorms are likely to expect some lightning gusts up to 50mph in places heavy
00:58downpours causing impacts particularly if you're driving.
01:01However, through this evening it's pleasant enough, it's warm outside.
01:05Quite a breeze along this east coast, some hazy sunshine to end the day but notice these
01:10showers developing across Cornwall as well as Devon and then Somerset.
01:15They'll clip the southwest of Wales into the early hours of tomorrow morning and more waiting
01:21in the wings across the Channel Isles.
01:22All of this is moving northwards, particularly across the western side of the country but
01:26you'll find some showery bursts just across central southern England as well.
01:31And here it's going to be a muggy night, an uncomfortable night for many.
01:35Further north, temperatures holding at 14 or 15 degrees Celsius as well.
01:39So first thing tomorrow morning, for most it's a dry start, it's a humid one with some hazy
01:44sunshine.
01:46This mass of thundery rain continues its passage northwards across Northern Ireland, Wales,
01:51the Isle of Man and then further clusters of showers which will be thundery will again
01:57extend across England and Wales towards southern Scotland.
02:00Here they'll be fairly hit and miss with some sunshine in between but notice now and again
02:06that rain does become more intense and persistent with the risk of some lightning strikes as well
02:12as hail.
02:13Temperatures then 22 towards the north there, 27 across the southeast and hotter still on Friday.
02:21So through Thursday evening we watch as this first area of thundery rain continues pushing
02:26northwards, again strong winds towards the northeast of Scotland and then further showery bursts
02:31arrive towards the southwest and again they could turn thundery in places.
02:36Into Friday, a fine start across central and eastern areas again with some sunshine, Northern
02:40Ireland getting away with some fine weather to start the day but there will be some showers
02:44in the mix and they could be heavy.
02:46Now through the morning into the afternoon this first batch moves northwards and notice these
02:52are developing towards the south causing problems later on Friday and into Friday night.
02:57Here's your yellow warning for thunderstorms across east Anglia as well as the southeast
03:00and look at these temperatures coming in around 29 if not 30 just north of London, 24 for north
03:07Wales as well as the northwest of England, Northern England also seeing that 24 towards the northeast,
03:1223 across the central belt of Scotland, humid here, 20 to 21 across Northern Ireland and even
03:18for the Murray Firth you'll see values coming in the low 20s. So that's the picture through Friday
03:24afternoon. Yes, it's going to be a hot and humid day for some and let's pick up on what's happening as we
03:30head through the next 48 hours or so. So that first cluster moves northwards and then as we head through
03:36Friday and into the evening time more thunderstorms develop with the risk of thunder, lightning, hail and
03:42strong winds. They're again just moving northwards but notice it's quite an extensive band.
03:47It will clip northern England as well as Scotland into Saturday as they push towards the far north, further
03:53thunderstorms elsewhere but turning a little better towards the south with a scattering of showers, a bit of a
03:59blustery breeze and some sunshine and certainly you'll notice the difference on Sunday. The winds coming in from the west
04:05this time so temperatures around 19 to 22 Celsius and again some showers in the mix. Now for the 10 day trend this week,
04:12check out our YouTube channel. This week it's with Ada McGiven. I'll see you later.
