00:00So today I am here outside of Planet Ice, which is this summer hosting the first Jurassic Park installation in the city of Bristol.
00:10Let's go on in and take a look.
00:13Firstly, just tell me a little bit about the concept. Where did it come from?
00:18So the concept was created in Austria, in Vienna, and it was designed by a man who owns a company that develops theme parks.
00:25And his children had said, Father, why don't you develop something that's a bit more immersive and CGI instead of these non-moving or moving animals?
00:36So he created this sort of CGI and immersive experience, which tells a story for about an hour.
00:41Jurassic's enthusiasts in Bristol have a new reason to celebrate.
00:46The Jurassic immersive experience has officially opened its doors at Planet Ice, Cribs Causeway.
00:52This cutting-edge attraction brings the prehistoric world to life with like-a-like dinosaurs, interactive exhibitions and thrilling virtual reality rides.
01:03So we're very excited about it. We've looked to try and offer something that's a bit of diversification to our normal business, which is ice skating and ice hockey.
01:13So we looked to different parts of the world. That's what was really the latest sort of technology.
01:20And by coincidence, a good friend of mine has developed the concept Jurassic Immersive, which was showcased in Vienna and moved to Stuttgart and Malta.
01:30And we've brought it here with the rights in the UK and we've chosen Bristol as the first location.
01:35Firstly, tell me a little bit about this immersive experience. What is it? What can we expect?
01:40So this is an hour-long event, which starts with an escape room, where you've got to work out the code to get out.
01:49That can be done by youngsters, parents and grandparents, so it's not too complicated.
01:55Jurassic Park, then. Obviously, it's a cult classic. Loads of people love it. What was the significance of Jurassic Park?
02:01Well, I think everybody loves a dinosaur, don't they? Girls and boys, young and small, parents and grandparents.
02:07We all like the mystery of dinosaurs. And this brings you a little bit closer to almost being amongst them and with them.
02:14And you can experience the size and the noise. So it seemed a logical thing here in Bristol and Crips Causeway to develop this theme and be the first one in the UK.
02:24The experience is one of many that makes Bristol a popular place to visit, helping to bring footfall into the city.
02:31Obviously, Bristol is at a crucial highway junction in the UK because the people are coming and going as tourists to Cornwall and Devon.
02:39So whilst the local population is huge and it's a massive city, we also feel as though we can connect with some tourists and people passing through,
02:48which allows them to take this understanding of this product and this event back home.
02:54And hopefully, if successful here, we think it will do, we'll take it on a tour to our other arenas.
