00:004-4 into the second overtime. We talked a lot before the series that Brad Marchand was going to be make a big impact for Florida and I would say he certainly did that. Had a shorty early in the game and then in the second overtime this on Panthers radio.
00:17Then it's Dreisaitl behind the net. Dreisaitl out to Ekholm at 5. It's wide. Out to the near point. Out blown in the zone is Marchand. A pass ahead. We're going to Marchand. A break to the head to Marchand. Can he tie the series? And he scores! Brad Marchand in overtime and the Panthers win game 2-5-4. The series is tied in a game apiece.
00:38Great call, bro. Nice call of that. Exciting play. And he brought it right there. Nice job. What a game. It was a great game. There's nothing like a double overtime thriller in the Stanley Cup final. You know, you look at all the great years that they've had overtime games in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
01:01But in the finals, a double overtime. It doesn't get better than that. We had overtime in game one. Double overtime game two. I mean, what is next in this series?
01:10These two teams are, you know, it's like they're meant for each other. They're both so good. And they're both so dangerous in the weirdest of ways, right?
01:20Like, they're not similar in style, Mike. They're similar in their unique talents. Like, they're both really good, but in different ways. You know, one's a speed team, a finesse team, a passing, one-timer snipe team.
01:36And the other one's clearly a four-check team, a grinder team, and gets goals whenever they need them. And a heavy hitter team. They're so different, but they're both so great.
01:48They really are. That was, by the way, just so we know, Doug Plagans does the play-by-play for the Panthers on the radio.
01:56Nice job, Doug.
01:56Nice job with that call. Very nice job by Doug. Here's Dreisaitl. We'll start with him. Of course, you lose a game like that. You tie the game. You lose it in overtime.
02:07Double overtime in the Stanley Cup final. Not easy, but you got to put it behind you quickly.
02:11Yeah, like, right after the game, there's frustration and, you know, the what-ifs. Go start going through your head a little bit.
02:18But, you know, the next day, you move on. You have to. You have no choice. We got to get ready for tomorrow.
02:25Coming in here, you know, looking to play our best game. And, yeah, we're comfortable playing our best on the road.
02:32So, yeah, just shift your focus to that.
02:35So, I know that this next clip is even better. This one really tops the cake.
02:42Right. So, now, you know which goal I'm going to talk about here. That goal that it was scored by Dreisaitl on Friday night.
02:51But McDavid made the highlight reel play, which was he cut through to Florida defense with his toe drag like a knife through butter.
03:02I mean, it was just something that you just can't replicate it or teach it.
03:07And somebody actually asked McDavid, how do you think a kid could learn something like that?
03:11Dreisaitl was quick to let him know what the answer to that was.
03:15I know that's a product of talent and years of skill work.
03:18But if there's a kid out there who's like, how did he do that?
03:21Like, what would you say to him?
03:22Um, yeah, how do you develop that?
03:29Yeah, I mean, it's, as you said, you know, a lot goes into that, you know.
03:35As you said, you know, I don't know.
03:39Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how to answer that.
03:41You can't learn that.
03:44Let me answer it for you.
03:45Yeah, I'll answer it for him.
03:51Listen, I gotta say this, right?
03:54Like, so I think it's important to remember that, and I don't want to sound cheesy, that every one of these guys was a kid one day.
04:01And they were all dreaming of being where they are now.
04:05And some kid out there wants to be him.
04:08Um, you know, I think it's important that they try to help any kid.
04:14How do you become great?
04:15I'll tell you how you become great is hard work.
04:18And it's millions of shots and millions of toe drags and millions of, you know, laps and skating and speed and skill and trying to cut and cycle and be a player, right?
04:33Like, I think it's pretty obvious if you don't have those skills by high school, you'll never play, uh, in college.
04:39And if you don't play in high school and college, you're not playing in the NHL.
04:42So I think as a young kid, you have to develop it.
04:45And, you know, Yutake is crazy.
04:49Uh, it's expensive.
04:51And, uh, listen, every one of these guys was a kid one day dreaming of this day.
