A honeymoon trip to Meghalaya ends in tragedy as Raja Raghuvanshi is found murdered. His wife Sonam is detained in Uttar Pradesh, while three alleged contract killers are arrested from Madhya Pradesh. The Meghalaya police claim Sonam hired the killers, with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha emerging as a key figure in the case. The investigation spans three states, with the autopsy revealing sharp wounds on Raja's body. The murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi in Shillong has taken a dramatic turn with the detention of his wife Sonam in Ghazipur and the arrest of four others, including alleged hitmen. The Meghalaya police, with help from Madhya Pradesh and UP authorities, conducted an operation leading to these arrests. The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya has urged patience as the investigation unfolds. The case has sparked debates about tourist safety in Meghalaya and calls for a CBI probe from both families.

04:15Bureau Report, India Today
04:17All right, this all began really on the 22nd day of March when, in the month of May rather
04:27When Sonam and Raja went to Cherrapunji from Shillong City, about 50 kilometers away from the main city
04:34That's where they decided to spend some time
04:36They went trekking
04:38On the 23rd day of May is the last time the family established contact with Sonam
04:43From the 24th of May, the family members say that they couldn't reach either Raja or Sonam
04:49They presume that it is a network problem in this area, given it's a mountainous region
04:54However, repeatedly, for a couple of days, when the couple were out of touch
04:58The family got extremely worried
05:00The family had also traveled to Cherrapunji in Sora
05:03This is the area where they went missing
05:05And to look into this case, the villagers were also involved
05:09Is what the authorities say
05:11The search began, extremely difficult given the mountainous region
05:15Drones were used and it was raining very heavily at that point in time
05:19After which, on the 2nd of June, which is this Monday
05:23Raja's mutilated body was found
05:25Next to it were mobile phones, a strip of medicine
05:29And also a shard that belonged perhaps to Sonam
05:32Raising questions on what had happened to her
05:35Also, the search was underway while it was revealed today that Sonam was detained from UP
05:42Vipin Raghuwanshi, the brother of late Raja Raghuwanshi is joining us

08:18Raja's phone was closed.
08:22He said that I have to go to my phone.
08:26So, we will talk about the phone.
08:29But, I don't know why the problem is that Shilong is about to be having a phone.
08:37I would like to ask if Sonam is involved in this case because it has been allegations.

22:03go to the house and go to the house and go to the house.
22:08Another thing that comes to the house is coming to the house.
22:12But the three girls are coming to the house.
22:15The local police told us that this couple of people were more than four girls.
22:22They were talking about Hindi.
22:24We don't know Hindi.
22:25We don't know English.
22:28But these people were here, they were 3-4 girls, 4 male members and 1 lady member.
22:341 lady was clear that 1 lady was Sonam Raghuanshi.
22:384 people were arrested.
22:413 super killers and 1 person, Raj Gushwan, known to Sonam.
22:45I'm going to leave it at that for the moment.
22:46I'm going to thank all of you, Santosh, Ravish and Amrita Anshi for joining in with those details at this point in time.
22:55In fact, just a few moments ago, I had a word with the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Preston Tinsong.
23:01Listening to what he said about this entire development from today where Sonam was detained and of course, there were others who were arrested.
23:16Horrific details are emerging in the case of the murder of Raga Raghuanshi, who in fact was holidaying, was honeymooning in Chilong.
23:24He, along with his wife, had gone missing.
23:26It now turns out that his wife was involved, allegedly, in a murder of her husband, just barely a month into the wedding.
23:35But this case has got many layers and to talk about what really has happened here.
23:39I'm being joined by Preston Tinsong, is the Deputy Chief Minister of the State of Meghalaya.
23:43Thank you so much for your time, sir.
23:45I want to begin by asking you that right from the very moment, details of this case emerge around the 23rd and 24th of May.
23:53Many questions were raised on what could have happened here.
23:56People questioning, you know, whether these areas, remote areas are safe.
24:00What about the locals? Could they be behind it?
24:03How do you look at the developments from today, sir?
24:05Yes, thank you so much, Sneha.
24:10See, in fact, a few weeks back, the whole government machinery, including our police team from the state of Meghalaya,
24:21we were not able to sleep the moment we get to know the mysterious disappearance of the couple who was newly wet.
24:38Recently, I think just last month, they sell.
24:41But ultimately, when we start our efforts, how to get them back or how to get the reality and what's happening.
24:54So ultimately, thank God, I should say, that our team, the Meghalaya police team,
25:00ultimately got all the substantial evidence and leading to the arrest of these four people
25:11and then five with Sonam herself, the wife of later Raja.
25:17And that also happened in Madhya Pradesh and also in UP.
25:24So ultimately, last night, the operation took place till the morning and all the five suspects were apprehended, arrested.
25:35And even the investigation has just started over there.
25:39You know, I want to ask you, even after the, you know, the manner in which Sonam has been detained
25:44and obviously questions being raised on how safari killers were hired,
25:48all of this is, of course, in the realm of investigation.
25:50But the family of Sonam, even today, have said that the Meghalaya government had to do so much more.
25:57They didn't do enough.
25:58And they're also demanding a CBI inquiry in all of this.
26:01What do you have to say?
26:03Well, well, my simple reply to this issue is like this.
26:08Since we already arrested their main accused,
26:12because all the five are the main accused, I should say.
26:15Yes.
26:16So I would request the family members of both sides, let us wait.
26:23Don't jump to a conclusion yourself, because now the law will start taking its own course.
26:29So I would furbently request all the concern.
26:33Please trust the services provided by the Meghalaya police,
26:40as well as we need to understand that we are being governed by the law in the whole country of India.
26:50So I would request once again, the family members or any individuals,
26:56the loved ones, the dear ones of the couple, to kindly be patient
27:02and let the investigation go on till we reach to a final conclusion.
27:09Yes.
27:10You know, Mrs. Tinsong, I want to ask you first two questions.
27:14The first has got to do with the fact that this is a beautiful state.
27:17It's my own home state as well.
27:19You know, and I want to ask you that many people had raised questions
27:23on whether isolated areas are safe for tourists or not.
27:26Also, you know, talking about the fact that locals can be, you know, against tourists.
27:31They could be doing, there could be some criminal activity.
27:34And all that was also being looked at, isn't it?
27:38What do you have to say today after this twist and turn that this murder mystery has taken?
27:44Well, there are, let me tell you one thing.
27:46Yes, during these few weeks back, I think the narrative has been created in such a way
27:53that Meghala is not at all safe for tourists to be there, to be here in Meghala.
27:58Yes.
27:59But with today's operation, with today's achievement made by the Meghala police, as well as with our counterpart,
28:08be it from Madhya Pradesh or be it from UP, ultimately now the truth has started coming in.
28:18And therefore, as I said to you, I would request all the concerned stakeholders, all our friends,
28:27be it in India or be it outside India, please don't listen to this narrative.
28:34Because, see, you know, because I couldn't stand, the emotion was so high, especially for the family of both the couple,
28:42which has happened like that.
28:44But as I said to you, ultimately, truth will prevail and let the law also prove it.
28:50And I'm very, very, very sure, beyond doubt, that the law will come out and will also come to a logical conclusion
29:06of all this drama that has happened during this week's time, where we all suffer a lot.
29:14And number two, let me tell you one thing.
29:17During the search operation that has happened a few weeks back, let me tell you one thing,
29:22be it the village, the villagers themselves, be it the NGOs, be it the traditional heads of each, you know, of each village.
29:34They came out, they came out, both men, women, young children, to search.
29:42And they joined the search operation.
29:44And this spirit, let me tell you one thing, is the concern of the stakeholders here in Meghala.
29:52And let me tell you also, all these years, we never seen such cases, which is very, very unfortunate.
30:00And therefore, let me clarify and let me tell you that right now, right now, our image should not be taken as a dot.
30:12And let me just tell you also that whatever, whatever possible way we do,
30:18we treated people from outside the state or from outside the country as our own brothers and sisters.
30:25And, you know, the hospitality that we have provided to all the concerned tourists,
30:34I think they'll never forget when they go back to their respective places.
30:38Oh, absolutely.
30:39You know, I also want to ask you, because I was there and I've been seeing how difficult the rescue operations,
30:44the search operations of Egepahdin were,
30:46given the incessant rainfall that this region was receiving,
30:49the mountainous, you know, treacherous, difficult terrain, making things all the more difficult.
30:55And that's why everybody pitched in, drones were used and this had been going on.
30:59A lot of difficulty.
31:00And then today comes this news that the woman, the wife has been, you know, detained in Uttar Pradesh.
31:06What were your first thoughts as somebody who'd been monitoring all of these operations, sir?
31:10How did you feel when you got this information?
31:13Yes, ultimately, when we reached to this stage, let me tell you one thing.
31:17We are happy in one way, because ultimately, what the hard work put in by all concerned stakeholders here in Meghala,
31:27it bears fruit.
31:30That is the moment I would like to tell you.
31:32And then you will also see the reality and the sincerity, the honesty of our people over here,
31:39where from all walks of life, they join together to the search operation.
31:45And they don't care, even incessant rain, that time especially.
31:50And whether it's windy, whether it's rainy, or whether whatever, night and day,
31:55everybody took part in the search operation.
31:59So I'm so happy.
32:03Let me tell you also, and we are so grateful from the government side.
32:07And I'm so grateful to the government of Madhya Pradesh and to the government of UP,
32:14who has helped us a lot to nap this culprit, to nap the suspects,
32:19which says, as of today, it is a great success, whatever we have done.
32:24All right.
32:24And more news coming into this point in time.
32:33The brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanchi has left the entire nation shocked.
32:38This grief, this rage and rising demands for the CBI probe
32:42define both sides of this heartbreaking family drama.
32:46In that today, reports on that unfolding drama,
32:49the statements that are being made by both sides of the family
32:52on what they view this, how they view these shocking developments.
32:57Marriage, murder, agony, and grief.
33:07And now, blame game.

33:17has left the country shocked.
33:20The police have arrested four, including his wife Sonam,

33:27The police claim Sonam hired hitmen to murder Raja,
33:32who was killed while on honeymoon.
33:34Sonam allegedly fled to Shilong after the murder.
33:37She was arrested from Gazipur.
33:40In Indor, anger is boiling over.
33:43Raja's grieving family burned Sonam's posters outside her home,
33:48demanding swift justice.
33:49His brother also claimed that she was in prison.

34:09for work and may be involved.

34:52Her father, Devi Singh, is pointing fingers at the Meghalaya police.
34:56She is saying,
34:58what's going on in our house?
34:59It can't be in our house.
35:01Our family doesn't exist.
35:03When the children don't want to draw a break at home,
35:05we don't want to make sure we have to give good children.
35:08The CBI will continue.
35:10Whenever it begins to raise it,
35:11the hell happens in this situation.
35:12Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had earlier urged the center to hand over the case to the CBI.
35:34The arrest of Sonam and alleged hit men marks a dramatic twist in the murder case.
35:39With Samarth Shivastava and Santosh Sharma, Bureau Report, India Today.
36:09He said that under Prime Minister Modi, appeasement politics and divide in rule politics has ended.
36:15He has emphasized that Modi has brought an end to corruption and ushered in an era of development since 2014.
36:22Nanda also described the abrogation of Article 370 as a game changer for Jammu and Kashmir.
36:27The abolishment of Triple Talaak was another key milestone.
36:30He has highlighted the bold reforms and work provisions as a significant decision by the Modi government.
36:36While targeting the opposition, Nanda claimed that they repeatedly tried to provoke the people,
36:41but failed as the people consistently supported the Modi government.
36:45Speaking about Rahul Gandhi, he said,
36:47Opposition leaders raised baseless questions and insult the government on public platforms.
36:53Calling them irresponsible, he concluded by saying,
36:56May God give the opposition some true wisdom.
36:58Thank you very much.
37:28Thank you very much.
37:58Thank you very much.
38:28Thank you very much.
38:58Thank you very much.
39:28Moving on, Los Angeles is in chaos after mass immigration rates.
39:58It sparked violent protests.
40:00Flashes escalated, prompting the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops.
40:04Vehicles were torched, roads blocked, and an Australian journalist injured.
40:08Tension sawed as Trump warned of consequences.
40:11And Elon Musk backed his tongues.
40:12Los Angeles is engulfed in turmoil after sweeping immigration rates sparked fierce protests across the city.
40:36What began as demonstrations.
40:37What began as demonstrations quickly escalated into violent clashes, forcing the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to restore order.
40:52Protesters targeted vehicles.
40:54Protesters targeted vehicles, setting them ablaze and standing defiantly on their roofs, a dramatic symbol of the unrest gripping the city.
41:07Roadways were blocked, disrupting the city's traffic flow as law enforcement responded with tear gas and rubber bullets, sparking chaos and sending crowds scattering for safety.
41:22Among those caught in the violence was an Australian journalist struck by a rubber bullet while reporting live on the violence.
41:33Tensions reached a boiling point when a California highway patrol vehicle was set ablaze on a Los Angeles freeway, further inflaming the standoff between protesters and police.
41:49Several protesters were detained, cuffed, and held under close police watch.
41:54We need them, well, looking at it tonight, you know, this thing has gotten out of control.
42:01What their, I think before I could answer that, I'd have to know more about what their capabilities are, what their role is intended to be, to be able to make that determination.
42:11But we have great cops in Southern California here that work together all the time.
42:15So we have tremendous capability here.
42:18The Los Angeles mayor attributed the chaos to administrative failures and called on protesters to maintain peace while expressing their views.
42:33What we're seeing in L.A. is chaos caused by the administration.
42:39People should exercise their right to protest.
42:42That's their first amendment right, but people should also exercise that right peacefully, employing federalized troops is a dangerous escalation, but we need to be real about this.
42:55This is about another agenda.
42:57It's not about public safety.
42:59There's clearly no plan and there is clearly no policy.
43:02U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to the protesters, stating that those who disrupt the peace of the country and attack law enforcement officers or National Guard troops would face serious consequences.
43:16We're going to be watching it very closely and when they spit at people, you know, they spit, that's their new thing, they spit and worse, you know what they throw at them, right?
43:30And when that happens, I have a little statement, they say, they spit, we hit.
43:36And I told them, nobody's going to spit on our police officers, nobody's going to spit on our military.
43:43Despite his recent public feud with billionaire Elon Musk, the two appeared to find common ground regarding the protests.
43:52Musk re-shared Trump's post on Truth Social, where the president criticized California's leaders, including Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, for their handling of the unrest.
44:06As Los Angeles grapples with this unrest, the city stands at a crossroads.
44:11With tensions running high and both sides standing firm, the city faces a critical moment, one that could redefine its future.
