00:00:58It's Tony Schiavone alongside my longtime close personal friend and at times bodyguard

00:01:05During the next two hours, we're going to show you some of the top one-on-one matchups

00:01:08from the past year, including Diamond Dallas Page, Hulk Hogan, The Nature Boy, Ric Flair,

00:01:15Sting, Booker T, Jeff Jarrett, and Sid Vicious, and many, many others.

00:01:19Many of the matches you'll see involving two men vying for the WCW World Heavyweight title.

00:01:25Mike, on deck, top of the order, is going to be a powerbomb match for the WCW title

00:01:31from the very first month of the year 2000, Sid Vicious and Jeff Jarrett.

00:01:36Now, fan Sid Vicious has a neck brace on.

00:01:38That's because the week before, at the end of the year 1999, the NWO monster truck crushed

00:01:43his car with Sid in the car.

00:01:45You know, Tony, you talk to the superstars of world championship wrestling, and they

00:01:49will tell you that it's all about attaining championship gold.

00:01:53We start off the year 2000 in a similar way that we ended the year 2000, and that's Sid

00:01:58Vicious in the midst of a title picture.

00:02:01We're going to take you back now to a matchup where Sid challenges for the United States

00:02:05Heavyweight Championship against the so-called chosen one, Jeff Jarrett.

00:02:09You're right.

00:02:09It's a powerbomb match, which, in my opinion, has to give Sid quite an edge.

00:02:13You would say that all the top superstars in WCW have the title in their crosshairs?

00:02:18In the palm of their hands, in case you glom your opponent.

00:06:32Welcome back fans to the best matches of the year 2000 right here on WCW Nitro.

00:06:38Many of the great matches, as we said before, had to do with attaining the WCW title.

00:06:43Mike, many of the more intriguing matches did not have to do anything with the title.

00:06:47It had to do with personal issues.

00:06:49You're not gonna get any more personal than the issue Buff Bagwell had with Diamond Dallas

00:06:54Page during the past year.

00:06:55And if you'll recall, Kimberly was right in the middle of that personal tug of war involving

00:07:00Diamond Dallas Page and Buff Bagwell.

00:07:02So to speak.

00:07:03And I think when you look back on the year 2000, I think you'll find that maybe those personal

00:07:07issues were a negative to the careers of both individuals, DDP and Buff Bagwell.

00:07:12I don't think that they really were able to attain the status, the championship belts

00:07:17that they normally would have without these personal issues at stake.

00:07:20And the moral of the story is keep your wife out of the wrestling business.

00:07:26Let's go to Diamond Dallas Page and Buff Bagwell one-on-one from Nitro.

00:07:32Diamond Dallas Page are doubling that Kimberly was being more than friendly with Buff Bagwell.

00:07:39I don't know if that's to Buff, I just don't think she would do.

00:16:40Of course, throughout the years in WCW, some of the great rivalries have been like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.

00:16:47Like the Macho Man Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan.

00:16:52But really, the biggest has to be Ric Flair and Sting.

00:16:55And they had a match this past year as well.

00:16:58When you think back through the history, through the archives of World Championship Wrestling,

00:17:02I think the two names that you identify with WCW almost immediately would be the Nature Boy Ric Flair and Sting.

00:17:08Interesting match here because Sting spent so much time this past year concentrating on Vampiro.

00:17:13We'll take you back to the O'Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida for this one.

00:17:25Shove of Ric Flair all the way across the ring.

00:17:28And Sting does not want to get into a power matchup with the Nature Boy.

00:17:32And that is how Sting keeps his distance.

00:17:34And he knows the MO of Flair.

00:17:35He's wrestled Flair a hundred times.

00:17:37And Sting's found out every one of those times, whenever he gets Flair in trouble, look out.

00:17:43Because the dirtiest and the lowest moves will be flying your way.
