Macron's trip to Monaco marks first French presidential visit since 1984
French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, arrived in Monaco for a historic state visit. They were welcomed by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene with military honours.

00:00French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife were received on Saturday by Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco, in what marks the start of a historic two-day visit to the French Riviera.
00:13They were welcomed with traditional military owners, which is the first for a French president visiting Monaco since that of François Mitterrand in 1984.
00:22Monaco, in a post on Facebook, hailed its relationship with France, saying the Principality and Paris have a strong bond of friendship with an open border.
00:34The palace said more than 40,000 French citizens cross the border each day to work in Monaco.
00:40Macron's visit comes ahead of Tuesday's United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, which the French leader is billed to attend, alongside other global leaders, with the EU expected to formally launch the European Ocean Pact.
00:56The pact seeks to address climate and pollution threats to biodiversity, as well as challenges for coastal livelihoods.
