00:00French President Emmanuel Macron met his Moldovan counterpart Maya Sandu at the Elysee Palace in Paris.

00:08Macron reiterated French support for Moldova in the context of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine,

00:14as well as their accession bid to the European Union.

00:17The EU had announced plans to open a Moldovan office to strengthen engagement in the eastern region.

00:23Moldova is no longer dependent on Russian gas, and today we take another step forward.

00:30Together with the Agence Française de Développement,

00:33we are signing a 30 million euro agreement to improve energy efficiency in Moldova.

00:38This investment will reduce energy waste, lower costs and strengthen our energy independence.

00:46Sandu's arrival comes ahead of a vote on a new 1.9 billion euro instrument for Moldova

00:51to accelerate socio-economic reforms, strengthen its resilience and promote EU integration.
