00:00We find ourselves in this position, you know, I've just come off the back of a federal election,
00:05which was a little bit bruising, I think it's fair to say.
00:08And I don't think, you know, I've really quite had enough time to process that.
00:14But I think, like many Tasmanians, I have spent the last few days absolutely appalled
00:20with the shenanigans that have been played out by Dean Winter in the State Parliament.
00:24An utterly disgraceful display of self-interest and a grab for power
00:30with no credible alternative in place either, no credible alternative pathway for Tasmania going forward.
00:39He has refused to make the Parliament work.
00:42He declined the opportunity to make this Parliament work.
00:46Jeremy Rockliffe stepped up to make this Parliament work and has been making it work every day since.
00:52He has been resolute in his goal to take Tasmania forward, to build a better Tasmania,
00:59to implement the plan that he took to the last election, just not very long ago.
01:05Our party is united and resolute standing with Jeremy Rockliffe.
01:09We want Jeremy Rockliffe to continue to take Tasmania forward as he has been doing.
01:14We believe that he is the best person that can stand unwavering, unflinchingly,
01:21as he has in the face of difficult political circumstances.
01:26He took an increased size of Parliament to the last election,
01:32knowing that that might be a politically difficult thing to do,
01:36but that it was the right thing to do.
01:38And it is Jeremy Rockliffe that stood up and made that work,
01:43that has worked with crossbenchers,
01:45that has listened to the will of Tasmanians that elected that Parliament
01:48and has done his utmost to make that work.
01:51And it is working.
01:53And he needs to be able to continue that work.
01:56And instead, Dean Winter has gone in with no credible plan,
02:00no alternative plan,
02:01and just decided that he's going to create uncertainty
02:04and division and difficulty for the Tasmanian economy
02:08in a grab for self-interested power.
02:11And I have never felt more motivated in my time in political life
02:16than to get involved than I do right now.
02:19And if we have to be having an election
02:20because of the selfish actions of Dean Winter,
02:23then I am absolutely prepared to put myself forward for pre-selection
02:27to stand as a member of Jeremy Rockliffe's team,
02:31to back him in, as his colleagues have now,
02:33and say that we want Jeremy Rockliffe
02:35to continue as leading a Liberal government
02:38and taking this state forward
02:40and keep building a better Tasmanian.
