Les coureuses du Tour de Catalogne Féminin avaient rendez-vous ce jeudi avec l’étape la plus dure des trois jours de course en Espagne. Avec plus de 2000 m de dénivelé positif sur les 73 km séparant Baga du Coll de Pal, cette seconde étape avait tout pour créer des écarts importants en vue du classement général final. Et cela n’a pas manqué puisque l’immense favorite, Demi Vollering (FDJ-Suez), a relégué toutes ses adversaires à plus de deux minutes en attaquant à 10 km de l’arrivée. Seule Marion Bunel (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) a su tenir la roue de la Néerlandaise pendant l’ascension finale, avant de finalement échouer à 30 secondes de la nouvelle leader du classement général. C’est Femke De Vries (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) qui prend la troisième place de l’étape en devançant Elise Chabbey (FDJ-Suez) sur la ligne.
