00:00Good morning, happy Friday, here is your market open update.
00:07Futures tracking Canada's main stock index moved higher Friday, with markets on watch
00:11for domestic employment data and U.S. non-farm payrolls.
00:14The S&P TSX index futures were up 0.2% as of 6.50 Eastern Time.
00:19The venture sits slightly in the red and futures of the Dow and the Nasdaq both kick up over a quarter percent.
00:24Into headlines, Tesla stock dropped sharply as Elon Musk's feud with Donald Trump over a GOP tax bill
00:30unsettles investors, causing fears over potential cuts to EV subsidies.
00:36And Ford has issued a recall on more than 23,000 Explorer SUVs over risks of some parts detaching on the road.
00:43According to a Transport Canada notice last Tuesday, the recall includes 2016 and 2017 models.
00:50Jumping over to currency futures with the Canadian dollar, pretty subdued this morning
00:53tipping down to 72 cents U.S. up against the euro and Bitcoin breaks off 1,200 points to start the day.
01:00And tailing off with commodity futures, starting with copper grabbing on to over a quarter percent,
01:05gold pops up slightly, WTI holding at $63 U.S. a barrel, and natural gas tax on over 1.5 percent.
