00:00Alright, we'll kick start this edition with some news just coming in.
00:03This has got to do with the Stampede in Bengaluru.
00:06The government we are learning knew about the RCB Victory Bash.
00:10The Karnataka Cricket Body had written to the state government.
00:15The KSCA, which is the association, had sought permission for the event on the 3rd of June.
00:21This is an India Today exclusive news break.
00:23KSCA permission request letter for Vidhan Sauta on your screens at this point in time.
00:28This, in fact, came in on the 3rd of June before 7.30pm.
00:32The KSCA had informed the government on the Vidhan Sauta event.
00:37It would have informed the government on stadium ceremony as well on the 3rd of June itself.
00:44Permission sought, the government was very much in the know.
00:48So now, simply the argument that they didn't know or they weren't responsible or they weren't the stakeholders really doesn't cut eyes, isn't it?
00:58Absolutely, what we get to learn through our sources is the letter was sent to Karnataka government before 7.30pm on 3rd of June.
01:09Remember, 3rd June was a match day and 4th was a celebration day, that is day before yesterday.
01:14And the government, which received the letter, sat on it.
01:18They didn't take any decision on this and they didn't even try to communicate with the police officers to take the opinion.
01:26And subsequently, when they reached out to police officers, that's when the police have advised them to conduct the program on a Sunday
01:32when all office-going people will not be working and that will be an easy day for them to manage the traffic and crowd.
01:41However, RCB team and RCB management has refused, stating that there are many foreign players,
01:46they have to reach their home countries and they will not be able to stay back in Bengaluru
01:50because they have other commitment and they are committed to their home teams to play for.
01:56So, that is the reason RCB has also requested.
01:59And the Karnataka government, who received the letter, had not taken any decision.
02:04They didn't even try to mobilize the police force on 3rd.
02:08They didn't have a proper arrangement when it comes to security deployment in and around Chinnaswami Stadium for the next day.
02:15Well, absolutely. These are details emerging at this point in time.
02:19Saghay, about this letter that was written, if you could just take us through the exact language,
02:25what exactly was specifically said in that particular letter and how was the government explaining it also, Saghay?
02:36In this particular letter, they have categorically mentioned that permission to use Vidhan Sawada Grandstrap
02:41for felicitations of RCB team and support staff.
02:45And they have requested the Karnataka State Cricket Association has requested the government
02:51to ensure that they give permission for DNA entertainments as well as the KACA
02:57to organize and to make all kind of arrangements for felicitations ceremony in front of Vidhan Sawada.
03:03And they have also requested to provide security at that point of time.
03:08And the letter clearly shows that there was enough communication which was being done
03:14by the KACA to Karnataka government seeking permission on the scene.
03:19These are details emerging as far as this development over this report
03:30on the manner in which the Cricket Association had sought essentially permission
03:37or rather informing the government about the fact that there would be celebrations
03:41and that this was a permission letter that was sent out is what we are reading on.
03:45This is the state cricket body informing the government on the Vidhan Sawada event.
03:52Now, staying with this, let's tell you a little more about the politics over the stampede.
03:57Eleven lives were lost in the stampede.
04:01Most of them had gone to their, you know, to catch a glimpse of their favorite IPL team
04:05to celebrate their success.
04:07The shattered families are now asking who will bring their children back.
04:15What was meant to be a celebration turned into a nightmare.
04:30RCB's historical IPL win after 18 years ended not with joy, but with the cries of grieving families.
04:49After a deadly stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru claimed 11 innocent lives.
04:55Among them, 16-year-old Shivalingaswamy, who had just cleared his Class 10 exams.
05:03Purnachandra, a 26-year-old civil engineer who travelled from Mysuru to celebrate, never to return.
05:1119-year-old Chinmay Shetty, an engineering student and dancer who wasn't even a cricket fan,
05:17but had gone along with friends.
05:19Purnachandra, who left home saying he had a job interview, his family only discovered the truth later.
05:28Another victim, Manoj's father, lamented over how they had lost everything with their son's death.
05:34A bright boy whose education he was funding in a premium institution.
05:38Purnachandra, a very good man.
05:56Then there is a story of 13-year-old Divyanshi, a young girl full of excitement, hoping to
06:22see her cricketing hero Virat Kohli.
06:26But by 3.30 p.m., before the event had even begun, she was gone.
06:31Her mother, inconsolable, says officials stood watching, did nothing.
06:36So she wanted to see Virat Kohli.
06:39I was running out of breath, somehow I escaped from there.
06:44I rescued one person, but then later I saw her.
06:47So I can't blame anybody.
06:48If at all I have to blame, I have to blame the security people, I have to blame the traffic
06:53police who were right there.
06:54Truly unspeakable horror, terrible tragedy that no amount of condolences or compensation
07:00given by the government can really bring back Divyanshi to her mother.
07:05In fact, the mother is not really in her senses.
07:07She is being taken to the hospital by the family.
07:09We only wish and hope and pray that Divyanshi's family gets the power to trudge through this
07:17horror, this agony.
07:19More power to all the families of victims who have died in this unspeakable tragedy.
07:2524-year-old Sahana from Kolar also lost her life.
07:32Her family says not only was there anyone to help, but the government could not even provide
07:37a freezer box for her body until they protested at the hospital.
07:41And now only questions echo through these grieving homes.
08:02Who will take responsibility for these deaths?
08:10Why was there no crowd control, no planning, no accountability?
08:15As families mourn their children, all they are left with is silence from those in power.
08:22Bureau Report, India Today.
08:23So guys, with us, the most distressing part of this entire situation is that all those
08:34who died were young, some of them in their teens, you know.
08:38And the fact that the government is not done enough is also extremely distressing from what
08:44all of you have been telling us, isn't it?
08:46The family members, the kin are complaining about lack of, you know, about apathy and lack
08:52of sensitivity over this entire situation.
08:53Absolutely.
08:54If you notice that the entire family has shattered after this kind of incident and when we were
09:07talking to the family members, one of the father said that he has earned crores of money.
09:11He just wanted to see Virat Kohli at RCB team at Chinaswambi Stadium.
09:15He informed them and went and unfortunately he didn't return and he said that even my enemies
09:20should not face this kind of situation.
09:22And one more person who has left his house stating that he had to take a transfer certificate
09:27that is TC from his school and he had to go to school.
09:32Then they lied to their family and they had come here to Bengaluru to see him because the
09:37neighboring districts are very close, say around 30 to 40 kilometers.
09:40So everybody traveled overnight.
09:42Remember, the entire night the RCB fans were celebrating on the streets and on the roads of
09:47Bengaluru and when they got the communication from RCB on that night on the social media
09:52that there will be a celebration the next night.
09:54Most of them who were celebrating continue to celebrate coming to Bengaluru.
09:58Most of them stayed here.
09:59Most of them stayed in friends' place or someone also stayed in their car and they waited
10:04till 5 o'clock in the evening.
10:05And that's the reason people started to come as early as 9.30, 10 o'clock in front of stadium
10:10to get inside the stadium.
10:11The stadium was not open.
10:13They opened only after 3.10, 3.30 and that's when people started to rush in and everything
10:18unfolded.
10:19The tragedy unfolded and 11 people killed in that particular incident.
10:23That's right, Sakya.
10:2411 people killed in that horrific, horrific incident.
10:27Politics over this stampede continues to escalate.
10:30Seaman Kumar has taken charge as the new commissioner of the Bengaluru City Police.
10:35Now, the BJP has attacked the Congress of making top-level cops the scapegoat.
10:40Leader of opposition in Karnataka, R. Ashoka, has hit out at the Sidramaya government saying
10:44that how can police who were praised for their job a few days ago be suspended with immediate
10:49effect?
10:50BJP has also demanded answers from the Congress High Command on this.
10:53However, the Congress party seems defiant here, has accused the BJP of playing politics
10:58over dead bodies.
10:59The Sidramaya government has also said that with this incident, Bengaluru's image has taken
11:03a hit, but they aren't blaming others.
11:06It's also claimed that it will let law take its own course.
11:09Remember, BJP has called the Sidramaya government heartless and has even accused it of orchestrating
11:14the tragedy.
11:15Hitting out with a complete governance failure, it's called for Chief Minister and Deputy Chief
11:20Minister's resignation.
11:23Team India head coach Gautam Gambir has reacted to the stadium's stampede in Bengaluru.
11:28Speaking at an event, he said he always believed that roadshows are unnecessary.
11:32Asserting that lives are more important, he urged the franchise and fans to be more responsible.
11:37Asking the stakeholders to have closed-door events if required.
11:41Gautam Gambir also termed the event tragic and hoped that an incident like this would not
11:46occur in future.
11:49I was never a believer that we need to have roadshows.
11:52Never.
11:53When I was playing, I had the same statement to make, even after winning 2007, that we should
11:59not have roadshows.
12:00I think life for the people are far more important.
12:03And I will continue to say that even in future, I think we can be a little bit aware of not
12:08holding these kind of roadshows and can probably have it in a closed door or something like
12:13in a stadium.
12:14And it is very tragic what happened yesterday.
12:17And my heart goes to the family of people who have lost their loved ones.
12:20And I hope in future nothing like this can happen because I think we all are responsible
12:24and we all are responsible citizens and we should take care of all this.
12:27All right.
12:28So that was Gautam Gambir talking about the fact that these are roadshows which are extremely
12:34unnecessary if required.
12:35Do it within closed doors.
12:37Meanwhile, the Congress government in the state is under fire.
12:40BJP training its guns on the Chief Minister and the Deputy D.K.
12:44Shiv Kumar, who was seen attending the celebration inside the Chinnaswami Stadium even after the
12:49killer's stampede.
12:50The BJP is asking, like Alu Arjun was arrested for Pushpatu's stampede deaths, will the Kannada
12:56Karnadaka Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister also be taken behind bars?
13:01Take a look.
13:10Fans thronged the bustling streets of Bengaluru after RCB win.
13:14The entire IT hub painted red.
13:17But the fans' frenzy turns fatal.
13:2111 young lives crushed to death.
13:30While the families mourn the death of their loved ones, there is no end to politics over
13:35the tragedy.
13:38The BJP is gunning for the Siddharamaya government for the loss of lives.
13:42The opposition party lambasted the Kannataka government and stressed that the police were
13:47forced to give permission for the event even as they were unprepared for it.
13:53The images from the State Assembly made the apathy clear.
13:57While fans waited outside the stadium, Mantris and their kin got pictures clicked with Team
14:03RCB.
14:04RCP fans had gathered near the Chinaswami Stadium and all the police forces were here near Vidant
14:14Sauda.
14:15Is it not the failure of the State Government?
14:18The BJP alleged that the function was ongoing even after the first death was reported.
14:31When they celebrated here near Vidant Sauda, almost four to five deaths were there.
14:48After that, they went to Janardhan Hotel to have dosa and badam halwa.
14:55So this was the attitude of the government.
15:00Deputy Chief Minister D.K.
15:01Shiv Kumar rubbish the charges by the BJP.
15:06We don't want to speak politics, dirty politics.
15:09And here, BJP and JDS always place politics on dead bodies.
15:15That is their life, this one.
15:19Though the F.I.R. in the Stampede case does not name anyone, the Kannataka High Court, which
15:24took up the K-4 motto, has made it clear.
15:27There is no room for any blame game.
15:30With Nagarjun Dwarkanath, Bureau Report, India Today.
15:36The RBI has cut the repo rate by 50 basis points.
15:41RBI is reducing the repo rate to 5.5%.
15:45RBI cuts the repo rate for the third consecutive time, which also means that loans will be getting
15:51cheaper with this cut.
15:53So in a way, it's a good news essentially for borrowers here.
15:57With the repo rate being cut down to 5.5%.
16:01The MPC decides to reduce, which is widely expected, the policy repo rate under the liquidity
16:14adjustment facility by 50 basis points to 5.5%.
16:20I repeat, the reduction recommended by the MPC is for 50 basis points to 5.5%.
16:29This is with immediate effect.
16:31Consequently, the standing deposit facility rate, which is the STF rate, shall stand adjusted
16:37to 5.25%.
16:39And the marginal standing facility MSF rate and the bank rate shall stand adjusted to 5.75%.
16:49My colleague Chetan Bhutani from Business Today is now joining us live.
16:53Chetan, I want to begin by asking you, of course, this comes as good news for borrowers
16:58there with them getting some reprieve.
17:00Just talk to us.
17:01What would be the real impact on those who've taken loans essentially?
17:05Well, Sneha, it's a mega jumbo move seen by the Reserve Bank to India to cut 50 basis points,
17:13bringing it down from 6% to 5.5%.
17:16This marks the third consecutive rate cut by the central bank in 2025 and comes amid a sharp
17:22drop in retail inflation and signs of a strong economic growth.
17:25In fact, retail inflation fell to 3.16% in April and well below the RBI's target of 4%.
17:30Meanwhile, India's GDP grew by a solid 7.4% in January to March quarter.
17:36Well, Sneha, to answer your question, this move would actually bring a lot of help to
17:41home buyers and lenders and banks are expected to immediately respond to it and pass on the
17:46benefit to consumers.
17:47Also, Sneha, what's also to be understanding is the fact that RBI has now reduced the report
17:52rate by 100 basis points and changed its stance from accommodative to neutral, indicating a
17:57data-driven approach moving forward.
17:59That means that the government could also, the Reserve Bank could also probably in the near
18:03future get more measured approach for rate cuts as well.
18:06So clearly, one has to keep an eye out on what really the banks will do and of course,
18:11eventually pass on the benefit to the consumers, so a big relief to the home buyers as well.
18:16Leaving it at that for the moment, retail inflation has given the, in fact, reduction in retail
18:23inflation, inflation rather has given the RBI fair amount of elbow room to cut the reparate.
18:30The benefit is obviously going to be passed on to those who have taken loans essentially.
18:36So it's good news this morning for borrowers.
18:38I'm going to leave it that Chetan getting in those details for us today.
18:55Well, Elon Musk and President Trump's alliance have collapsed in a fiery field with Musk announcing
19:02the end of SpaceX Dragon program after Trump threatened his contracts.
19:07Their clash, sparked by a controversial bill, escalated with Epstein allegations and personal attacks.
19:16Musk has made a shocking claim, saying that Trump himself is there in the Epstein files.
19:23This unexpected statement has sparked widespread attention and debate online,
19:29adding fuel to the ongoing controversies surrounding this and his connections to powerful figures.
19:35Musk has gone a step further by endorsing calls for Trump's impeachment.
19:40Musk even reposted a post on X from right-wing commentator who wrote Trump should be impeached
19:46and J.D. Vance should replace him.
19:48Musk simply responded saying yes.
19:50Following Trump's threat to revoke federal support, Musk announced the shutdown of a major space program.
19:57In a tit-for-tat move, Elon Musk said that SpaceX will begin retiring its flagship Dragon spacecraft
20:03following President Trump's threat to cancel government contracts.
20:06Calling out the legislative process behind Trump's bill,
20:10Musk said the bill in contention was never shown to him and even was passed in the dead of night.
20:17President Trump's public feud with Elon Musk has affected Wall Street.
20:22EV giant Tesla with the company's shares plummeting 14% on Thursday.
20:27The fall in shares knocked off $153 billion of Tesla's market valuation.
20:33It's actually the biggest one-day drop on record while yielding short sellers $4 billion in gains.
20:48The high-profile romance between the world's richest man and America's most powerful leader has come to a dramatic halt.
20:57What began his acquired disagreement behind closed doors has now exploded into a very, very public
21:03and bitter spat of a big, beautiful bill, a sweeping economic package that Musk vehemently opposed.
21:10Musk accused President Donald Trump of being named in the sealed Jeffrey Epstein files,
21:16claiming that the real reason they've never been fully released.
21:19Trump accused Musk of being upset of a cuts to EV mandate
21:23and insisted Tesla CEO was fully aware of every detail before it was passed.
21:28Also, Trump took a jibe at former allies, including Musk,
21:31suggesting those who left his circle only did so to later badmouth him.
21:36But Elon fired back, claiming that Trump would have lost the polls without him,
21:41accusing the former president of ingratitude.
21:44Musk didn't mince words, calling the legislation the big, ugly bill,
21:48and warning that it would bankrupt America if not fixed.
21:51Musk also said he would do, would, in fact, to decommission the dragon this after.
21:57Trump threatened to end government subsidies and contracts.
22:01Tesla shares went into freefall on Thursdays.
22:04Trump's feud with Musk became just so public.
22:08Tesla shares ended the day down 14%, wiping off over $150 billion in market value.
22:15President Faria and Faria.
22:18Well, look, you know, I've always liked Elon.
22:21and I was very surprised.
22:22You saw the words he had for me.
22:24The words and he hasn't said anything about me that's bad.
22:27I'd rather have him criticize me than the bill, because the bill is incredible.
22:32it's the biggest cut in the history of our country we've never cut it's about
22:371.6 trillion in cuts it's the biggest tax cut tax you would say people people's
22:44taxes will go way down but it's the biggest tax cut in history it's we have
22:50we are doing things in that bill that are unbelievable and when you look at
22:54what we're doing for small businesses for people for middle-income people all
23:00of the things that we're doing nobody's ever seen anything like it and you
23:05know elon's upset because we took the evie mandate and you know which was a lot
23:09of money for electric vehicles and you know they're having a hard time the
23:14electric vehicles and they want us to pay billions of dollars in subsidy and you
23:20know i i elon knew this from the beginning he knew it for a long time ago that's
23:25been in there that's been i would say jd that hasn't changed that's been right
23:29from the beginning mr i think mr secretary that hasn't changed at all right from
23:34the beginning but i know that disturbed him he wanted and rightfully you know he
23:39recommended somebody from that he i guess knew very well i'm sure he respected him
23:45but to run nasa and i didn't think it was appropriate and he happened to be a
23:51democrat like totally democrat and i say you know look we won we get certain
23:57privileges and one of the privileges we don't have to appoint a democrat nasa is
24:01very important we have great people general kane is going to be picking
24:06somebody with our we'll be we'll be checking them out and seeing but he wanted
24:12that person a certain person and we said no and you know i can understand why he's
24:17upset remember he was here for a long time you saw a man who was very happy when he
24:24stood behind the oval desk and uh even with the black eye i said you want a little make
24:29up we'll get you a little makeup but he said no i don't think so which is interesting and
24:35very nice he wants to be who he is so you could make that statement too i guess look elon and
24:42i had a great relationship uh i don't know if we will anymore i was surprised because you
24:47were here everybody in this room practically was here as we had a wonderful send-off he said
24:52wonderful things about me you couldn't have nicer said the best things uh he's worn the hat trump
24:58was right about everything and i am right about the great big beautiful bill we call it a great big
25:04beautiful bill because that's what it is and uh again biggest tax cuts in history biggest economic
25:10development moves anywhere we've never done anything like it uh business is spurred and i don't know if
25:17you've seen the numbers but the numbers came out even the cbo which is run by democrats said that
25:23we're going to be uh doing you know i'd like you to discuss it the 2.8 million a trillion that cbo this
25:30is some a group of people that are democrats they're very hostile to us well i'm going to buy
25:36and i'm going to buy because number one it's a great product as good as it gets and number two
25:43because this man has devoted his energy and his life to doing this i think he's been treated very
25:48unfairly by a very small group of people and i just want people to know that you can't be penalized
25:56for being a patriot and he's a great patriot and he's also done an incredible job with tesla and
26:02i mean nobody else has a car company started up in the last 30 years that's been successful i don't
26:08think so elon and i had a great relationship uh i don't know if we will anymore i was surprised
26:15because you were here everybody in this room practically was here as we had a wonderful send
26:20off he said wonderful things about me you couldn't have nicer elon's upset because we took the ev mandate
26:26and you know which was a lot of money for electric vehicles and uh you know they're having a hard time
26:32the electric vehicles and they want us to pay billions of dollars in subsidy
26:37and india today spoke to experts in the u.s on this ongoing tensions between trump and musk here's
26:44what they were pined
26:45mr johnston you know we're speaking of uh a rather few days that we are looking at the past few days
26:56in fact a rather short period of time uh from being best buds if we may call it so the bromance between
27:03these two uh now seems to have turned out to be a call for impeachment from elon musk for donald trump
27:11how are we looking at this entire series of events and how may this uh you know affect
27:18donald trump's governance especially for his second term well what you're seeing here sriya are two
27:27grown men who are emotionally 13 year old boys uh misbehaving in public uh both of them have
27:35only a very loose and occasional relationship with truth uh both of them uh live in the myth-made
27:43world of their own design and with donald who i've known for 37 years all relationships are
27:51transactional and they are all about loyalty to donald nothing else but loyalty to donald
27:56so the minute that elon musk realized he had interests that were being harmed in what trump
28:01keeps calling the big beautiful bill it's i think better characterizes the big very ugly bill
28:07uh particularly as applied to his uh electric vehicle business tesla it's not surprising that he
28:15broke with trump on this and the threat he's made regarding the epstein files uh the comments he's made
28:23are very telling it's uh the government was donald trump promised his government would make all the
28:29epstein files public they have not and the reasons for that epstein uh if you believe musk
28:36uh the reason the epstein files are not all made public is quite obvious it would show that donald trump
28:41uh was involved with underage girls and let's remember donald in fact did things like walk in on
28:48uh naked and half naked 14 year old girls at one of his beauty pageants claiming it was his right
28:54to do so moving on during an all-party global outreach campaign shashi throor led delegation met u.s
29:01vice president jd vance throor claimed that the meeting was outstanding in totally
29:06supportive of our stand on palgam in the aftermath and accepted india's right to respond
29:11throor also stressed that there can be no equivalence between those who harbor a terrorist
29:16and those who are victims of terror they just be surya also part of the delegation called the meeting
29:22with vance fantastic and said that vance expressed unwavering support for the indian government
29:27in its counter-terrorism efforts
29:30we had a really wonderful meeting with vice president vance he was warm welcoming had warm
29:39memories of his visit to india totally supportive of our stand on palgam and in the aftermath and
29:45accepting our right to respond as we did and then we talked about areas of future collaboration in
29:50other areas including ai and and and very positive positive vibes as it were throughout the meeting
29:57so i would say that um we got our messages across uh i don't want to go into details uh equally uh we
30:04got back a tremendous amount of positive energy from him vice president vance was unequivocal
30:11uh categorical categorical in his support for india's stance against terrorism he was very clear that india
30:22exercised its right to deter further terrorist attacks from pakistan and sympathized he also expressed
30:28complete support to the government of india in its fight against terror he was also uh greatly
30:36appreciative of the responsible restraint uh that india showed uh even after uh repeated provocations
30:44by pakistan and india very sternly uh dealing with the issue uh both militarily as well as diplomatically
30:55he was very clear on that i think the fact that he was present in india definitely added to the
31:04uh but at every stage there was complete condemnation of terrorism this was a very good uh engagement
31:15i would say um overall seeing these parties get together uh in a time we've got political divide in
31:20most countries uh that's a historic achievement unto itself but um you know talking not so much about
31:25the reaction with the terror attacks and india's reaction but more about india's growth story and the
31:29fact that hopefully this can be another launch point to try to attract investment and help to build the
31:33economy because ultimately that's the biggest bulwark against terrorism when people have opportunities
31:37and growth and india's really leading the way well i think this was a very useful briefing by a diverse
31:43group of indian parliamentarians and we heard uh what their uh priorities are with the u.s india
31:53relationship and we also heard their perspective on the horrific terrorist attack that happened on april
32:0022nd um in kashmir and then we heard about india's response to that uh horrific terrorist attack on may
32:107th and so i think it was a good way to build understanding about uh what happened in india why india responded
32:18the way it did and i think that what we heard is there is large agreement between the u.s and india when
32:25it comes to countering terrorism that you cannot uh stand back when you were attacked by terrorists
32:32that uh there must be a response or the terrorists are just going to come back and do the same thing
32:38again all right now while addressing a press conference in new york tharoor delivered a sharp
32:43and composed response after his journalist son ishan tharoor confronted him with tough questions
32:48about evidence against pakistan listen in stand up that shouldn't be allowed this is my son
32:59ishan tharoor of the washington post uh definitely asking a question in personal capacity and mostly
33:05to say hi before you go off to your next engagement um raise the mic mostly to say hi before you go off to
33:11your next engagement uh i'm curious though on this tour you've been on various countries in the western
33:17hemisphere have any of your government interlocutors asked you to show evidence of pakistan's culpability
33:24in the initial attack and what do you say to the repeated pakistani denials of having any hand
33:29in the initial attack okay well i'm very glad you raised this i didn't plant it i promise you this
33:34this guy this guy does this to his dad very simply uh no one had any doubt and we were not asked for
33:41evidence but media have asked and so you are speaking for your tribe and that in two or three
33:47places media asked this question let me say very clearly that india would not have done this without
33:53convincing evidence all right we have more news coming in this has got to do with the prime minister's
34:00visit he is all set to land in jammu and kashmir any moment now he will be unveiling the game changer
34:06chenna bridge this is the first visit of the prime minister in jammu and kashmir after the horrific
34:12pehlgaam attack security has been beefed up ahead of the visit of the prime minister
34:20i'm going straight across to me farid getting in more details at this point in time he joins us from
34:24srinagar this morning mir this is the strongest and the loudest message to pakistan and those fomenting
34:31trouble in this region that when you focus on terror we focus on rehabilitation we focus on
34:38development we focus on ensuring that jammu and kashmir along with the entire country grows and
34:45progresses isn't it
34:53well yes absolutely in fact this is a big big day for kashmir because it's a dream that was
34:59visualized 42 years ago frame of train to kashmir and finally the day has come many delays many
35:07postponements but the days here prime minister will inaugurate flag off for the vande bharat
35:12i am right now in naugam railway station srinagar and this is the train which will simultaneously run
35:20as soon as the prime minister flags off vande bharat katra to srinagar this train will also start
35:25chugging now it is all decked up and uh it is a big day as you rightly said there is a lot of
35:31messaging in this as well because uh kashmir we know because of terrible road connection every now
35:37and then the road used to get shut and it used to cause immense difficulties for the natives for
35:42the local lights air travel used the rates the tickets the rates used to go through the roof and it was
35:49clearly not in the range of a common man so this is going to bring relief in more than one way
35:55travelers yes but also importantly it is a massive it will provide massive economic boost as well
36:01because you have the horticulture industry which forms the backbone of valley economy and they had
36:07been in fact requesting the government of india that train services should start they'll get good
36:13strains and they can send their produce in a quick time also same money as they do it to send their
36:19produce right up to south to various food mondays of the country and then for tourism for pilgrimage we
36:27know amanat yatra is also happening in a month's time so this can be used by atris as well this is
36:33all-weather reliable train connection and as i said this is going to be a game changer for the kashmir
36:38valley the prime minister in jammu and kashmir his first visit after the behelgaam attack and as you
36:43rightly talked about the messaging the messaging is that we are for peace we are for development
36:48uh and there is no place for terrorism in that uh world's highest railway bridge which again is a
36:54engineering marvel you won't find this kind of a technology or a bridge at the at those heights
37:01anywhere in the world so this showcases the kind of difficulties this uh this this rail line had
37:08and uh the kind of uh mountainous track the geographical difficulties which were overcome by the railways
37:14took a lot of time but finally this engineering marvel is uh this dream has been fulfilled and
37:20today is a historic day for kashmir lot of expectations people uh and are hopeful that this
37:26will ease their travel woes but at the same time will also bring uh usher a developmental era where
37:33there will be fast track development economy will get a boost and this train
37:37will act as the much needed relief and game changer for the kashmir valley
37:41is there absolutely be with us i'm just going to come back to you in a moment from now amir to
37:44tell our viewers a little about the china bridge well days after the pal gum terror attack in india's
37:50strong counter with operation sindoor the prime minister is going to be there in jammu and kashmir
37:55for the first time since the dastardly pal gum attack during his visit he will be inaugurating the
38:01world's tallest railway arch the china bridge a marvel of engineering and a milestone in india's railway
38:08history built to withstand earthquakes blocks and extreme weather the bridge is designed to stand
38:14strong for a century he is going to be unveiling the anji bridge which is india's first cable
38:20state railway bridge another key link in the uddhampur srinagar baramulla railway line a day earlier
38:26chief minister of jammu and kashmir visited the china bridge haling it as a historic step in integrating
38:33kashmir through modern rail connectivity
38:39state railway haling with one of the strides of the american
38:40cities in india's local law which is Shortly before the dhampur srinagar where this arch

41:26All right, we're getting in details as far as
41:56the inauguration of this bridge is concerned in every which way.
41:59This is a big message to Terroristan.
42:02I'm going to go straight across to Mir for more on that.
42:05Mir, you know, talk to us about the details of the construction of this bridge.
42:09Of course, it has been reviewed also by the Chief Minister just yesterday.
42:13The strategic importance of this key infrastructure
42:16that has been developed over a period of time, isn't it?
42:19It's going to undoubtedly ease out connectivity in this region,
42:23which has been difficult for years together.
42:26And from that point of view, it's hugely significant.
42:34Well, Sneha, this bridge or to connect these two sides was the biggest challenge.
42:39One of the biggest challenges the railways faced
42:41as they went on this mission, Connect Kashmir.
42:44There were many designs that could not withstand the tough geography of the area.
42:49Now, you have to understand the heights, the wind speeds,
42:52and also the fact that you needed a bridge that would take a train on high speed.
42:59Now, all that, all those goals have been met as far as this Chinab railway bridge is concerned.
43:04It is a bridge that can last up to 120 years, which is the expiry that the engineers has given it.
43:13It can also withstand a lot of explosives.
43:17In fact, TNT, that even if exploded in big volume, it can withstand that.
43:24An earthquake of almost eight magnitude, it can withstand.
43:27So, all those factors have been weighed in.
43:30And that's why they're calling it as an engineering marvel,
43:32a bridge that has no parallel anywhere in the world.
43:36So, this, as I said, NOAH showcases the kind of tough challenges that the railway faced
43:43as they went ahead with this mission to connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country.
43:48This is just one of the many engineering achievements that the railways have achieved
43:54while making this historic rail connect.
43:58Another important thing, NEHA, is that out of the 111 kilometers between Srinagar and Katra,
44:04or should I say Banahal and Katra, 90% of that is through tunnels.
44:08So, 90% of that generally you'll have to make going through the mountains, through the tunnels.
44:13So, that tells you how many tunnels have been created.
44:17There were times when the railways, the engineers made disappointment
44:20because the tunnels, the geography was such, the rock formation was such
44:26that the tunnels used to collapse or there used to be water seepage that used to happen.
44:30And that also happened in two tunnels that were a major challenge for the railways.
44:35Till the last day, they were rectified.
44:39Latest engineering expertise from all over the world was sought.
44:42And those issues were sorted.
44:45So, this is, in many ways, it is a jewel in the crown of the railway construction of the country.
44:53And that is why you see so much of importance.
44:55And also, the Prime Minister also highlighting the same when he talks about the engineering marvel,
45:01the Jailam, should I say, the bridge on the Chinab,
45:04which probably is the centerpiece of this project.
45:09And it's something that is taking all the limelight, hogging all the limelight as far as this prestigious project is concerned.
45:16Absolutely.
45:17You know, Mir, we'll talk about that in a moment from now.
45:19Just for a moment, we are now shifting focus briefly to some political reactions which are coming in
45:25as far as the construction of this key marble infrastructure is concerned.
45:30Let's take a listen.
45:31Let's take a listen.
46:01Let's take a listen.
46:03Let's take a listen.
46:33Marking a landmark moment in India's infrastructure journey,
46:47the Chinab and Ananji bridges connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country.
46:50These bridges will be functional in long weathers.
46:53India today exclusively spoke to local pilot of the Vande Bharat train
46:57that is going to be running on this railway line.
