00:00Let's get a preview of the RBC Heritage Open with Brady Cannon of SportsGrid.
00:04You can also read his columns at golf.com.
00:06I know that he's doing some work for CBS, too.
00:09And so golf is on the forefront for Brady, living, breathing, eating it.
00:14I mean, Brady, football season is only, like, a couple months away here.
00:18You got to get your majors in before it begins.
00:20U.S. Open next week, British Open coming up in July.
00:24Yeah, it's really a great time for golf right now.
00:26And you're right.
00:27Just a couple of months, we transition to football, and I'm looking forward to that as well.
00:32But right now, golf really, in its heyday, you know, you come off the PGA Championship.
00:37Here we are at the RBC Canadian Open.
00:39We've got the United States Open, the Scottish Open, the British.
00:43Yeah, this is good stuff for golf right now.
00:45But, yeah, football on the horizon.
00:48And north of the border in Toronto, Sam Burns, a popular pick this week.
00:52He's out to the lead, five players currently right now, tied at four under par at TPC Toronto.
00:59Nick Taylor, the first Canadian to win this tournament a few years ago in 54 years, trying to repeat here.
01:06He was a very popular pick, not only to win this week, but also to be first-round leader.
01:11Alex Smalley, a good player.
01:14Taylor Pendrith, a Canadian that was a popular pick this week, just one shot off the lead.
01:19And the UNLV Rebel golfer, the Englishman Harry Hall, one shot off the pace right now, also a popular pick this week.
01:27So let's take a look at the odds before tee time here.
01:30And Rory has fallen back a little bit after a little scuffle start here, plus 450 to open up.
01:35Now, probably about double that on Fandle.
01:38Oberg, 14 to 1.
01:39Connors is playing at 20 to 1.
01:41Lowry, 22 to 1.
01:43Taylor Pendrith, 26 to 1.
01:44And obviously, Sam Burns, with the start that he's off to, you're not getting 28 to 1 anymore, Brady.
01:50Yeah, Burns now down to 10 to 1.
01:53And it might be a good opportunity to jump on Rory.
01:57Rory has had success here, tremendous success.
01:59He loves playing this tournament.
02:01He skipped Jack Nicklaus' tournament last week so he could be here in Canada as he prepares for the United States Open next week.
02:09He's won this tournament twice.
02:10Now, this is a new golf course, new for everybody.
02:13Rory and everybody else has never played here before, basically, the first time it has popped up on the PGA Tour.
02:20But again, he's only three shots off the lead.
02:23We're obviously extremely early into this tournament.
02:25And you can get him at 8 to 1 at last check rather than that plus 450 that you referenced.
02:31And, you know, we talk about Scotty Scheffler, when's the right time to bet him.
02:36And last week at the Memorial, when he won, he went off at plus 280, and he was never higher than that, even when he was, you know, off of the lead after day one and what have you.
02:47His odds continually went lower and lower.
02:50Well, Rory, you've got an opportunity where, like we say, his odds have nearly doubled.
02:54Maybe he'd jump in on him at this point.
02:57Now, here are some of your long shots to win the RBC Canadian Open.
03:02And by the way, I think a lot of these, Brady, are still active because not many of these players have teed off from what I'm seeing here on the leaderboard here.
03:09Let's start off with your 55 to 1s, and then I'll let you take it from there.
03:13You like Hughes and Noren as some deep, long shots.
03:17And boy, Justin Rose was playing such good golf earlier in the year.
03:21He's 96 to 1 to win this.
03:22Yeah, I've seen his prices bounce around from like 95 to 70.
03:29He's kind of been all over the map, but he has had a very good season.
03:32Of course, we remember losing in a playoff at the Masters.
03:35He's done extremely well at this tournament before.
03:38A fourth and an eighth place finish in his last two visits.
03:41So I took a stab with Rose.
03:43He is still yet to tee off.
03:45As is Noren and Matty Schmid and Ricky Castillo, our big long bomb, the Florida Gator.
03:51Not too far from you there, Craig.
03:53This young rookie on tour is really making a splash and playing some great golf.
03:58Took a chance with him at 120 to 1.
04:01Mackenzie Hughes, the Canadian.
04:03He's the one Canadian I took.
04:04They typically don't do that well in their national open.
04:07There's so much pressure on the Canadians to perform on their home soil.
04:12But Hughes has done well here in the past and off to a decent start.
04:15He's one under par right there with Rory McIlroy.
04:18And Davis Riley, our other selection that is currently on the course, he's at two under par, just two off the lead.
04:24So a couple guys are in red figures.
04:26And then the other four are yet to tee off.
04:29I think Alex Noren's really interesting, Craig.
04:32He was suffering a hamstring injury that kept him off the tour for seven months.
04:38And in his return to action, he's made three straight cuts at very difficult golf tournaments, including a top 20 finish at the PGA.
04:46I think he might be ready to fire here.
04:48Do you have any head-to-head matchups going into the weekend?
04:52I do.
04:53Do you, Mackenzie Hughes, I took a stab with him over Keith Mitchell.
04:58Now, you probably can't still play that one because Hughes has teed off.
05:02But I do also have Max Homa.
05:05I'm fading Max Homa against Davis Riley.
05:08And then also going against Wyndham Clark against Kurt Kitayama.
05:12So maybe you can find a way to fade Homa, Mitchell, or Wyndham Clark.
05:17Thanks, Brady, for coming on.
05:18Have a great rest of your week.
05:20You too, my friend.
