00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03Two men have been charged with murder following the death of a teenager in Derbyshire.
00:08Liam Derrett was injured on the marketplace in Ilkeston in the early hours of Sunday.
00:13The 19-year-old, who is from Ilkeston, suffered serious head injuries and died in hospital on Tuesday.
00:19Two men have now been charged with Liam's murder.
00:21They are Kai Donaghy, aged 23, of Bilborough Road, Nottingham, and Joshua Harris, aged 24, of Little Hallam Lane in Ilkeston.
00:31Three other people have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
00:35All three remain on police bail pending further enquiries.
00:38Derbyshire detectives are reissuing an appeal for information on the incident
00:42and want to hear from anyone who witnessed it or has details that may help with their investigation.
00:47The East Midlands is set to benefit from a £2bn investment in local transport,
00:54which will support the long-awaited Chesterfield to Stavely Regeneration route bypass.
00:59The bypass was indefinitely paused in 2023 by Derbyshire County Council pending government support,
01:05with the projected costs skyrocketing to £166m.
01:09Its future hinged on support from the government which, under the Labour administration,
01:14is continuing a review of any new spending on major projects, including regeneration routes.
01:20This week, announcing transport funding for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire from 2027 until 2032,
01:26Clare Ward, who is the East Midlands Mayor, agreed that the £2bn funding was effectively a green light for the bypass project,
01:33pending remaining business case and grand investigation studies.
01:37She said,
01:37Should all of these things be right and the business case stack up,
01:41then this is the kind of project that I would want to see the money going towards.
01:44This is one of the projects that we specifically mention to the Treasury as part of making the case for this money.
01:50This is a very positive sign for the Chesterfield-Stavely bypass,
01:53subject to the other parts of the business case stacking up.
01:56It's good news.
01:56We'll be able to find out a data soon.
