Gaya, Bihar — In a horrifying incident, a doctor was tied to a tree and brutally assaulted in a village in Bihar’s Gaya district. The assault occurred when Dr. Jitendra Yadav visited the home of a rape victim’s mother to provide medical care after learning of her deteriorating health.
According to reports, 10–12 local goons, allegedly trying to pressure the victim’s family to withdraw the rape case, attacked the doctor for offering help. The mob tied him to a tree and beat him mercilessly, leaving him bleeding and severely injured.
Fearful villagers did not intervene but secretly filmed the assault. One such video, later posted on social media, went viral and caught the attention of authorities. A Dial 112 police team reached the spot and rescued the doctor using a rope. He was rushed to a Community Health Centre for treatment.
Police have confirmed that the doctor was attacked for assisting the rape victim’s family. A case has been registered, and a manhunt is underway for the accused.
Reacting sharply, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav called the situation in Bihar "worse than Taliban rule." In a post on Instagram and X, he blamed the state’s NDA government for lawlessness, alleging that the police and administration have completely failed to protect citizens.
“In Gaya district, a doctor treating the mother of a rape victim was tied to a tree and beaten to a bloody pulp. In 20 years of corrupt NDA rule, Bihar has become a land where criminals roam free and justice is dead,” Tejashwi said.
