An immigration crackdown in Sandakan, Sabah saw 238 undocumented migrants detained during large-scale integrated operations on Wednesday (June 4).

The operations, codenamed Ops Sapu and Ops Mahir, targeted squatter settlements, construction sites and wood-processing factories.

00:00Over 238 undocumented migrants were detained during large-scale integrated operations in Sandakan on Wednesday.
00:08The operations, codenamed Ops Sapu and Ops Mahir, targeted squatter settlements, construction sites and wood processing factories.
00:17Sabah Immigration Department Director Datuk Sharifa Siti Saleha, Habib Yusof said a total of 480 individuals were screened during the raids.
00:26The 238 people detained comprise 88 adult men, 88 adult women, 30 boys and 32 girls.
00:35They were detained for not possessing valid documents, overstaying misuse of passes and employing undocumented migrants, among other offenses.
00:45To date, 2,730 undocumented migrants have been detained across Sabah this year.
00:51Siti reminded employers in Sabah to cooperate by ensuring that their workers have valid travel documents before hiring them,
00:59especially in factories or the construction sector, to avoid facing legal action.
