00:11Jesus was going around doing the work God had sent him to do,

00:21healing people,

00:23and teaching them all about the kingdom of God.

00:27But the Pharisees and Sadducees thought Jesus was getting too popular,

00:33so they had him arrested in the middle of the night.

00:37Oh no! What did they do to him?

00:40They asked him a lot of questions.

00:44Are you the Son of God?

00:46Do you think you are equal to God?

00:50Jesus didn't say anything,

00:52but the religious leaders didn't care if he answered or not.

00:55They accused him anyway.

00:59He is guilty of blasphemy!

01:01Blasphemy!

01:03Blasphemy!

01:04Blasphemy!

01:07Blasphemy?

01:08What does that even mean?

01:11Blasphemy is when someone says untrue things about God.

01:15The Pharisees and Sadducees accused Jesus of saying he was God.

01:21According to the Pharisees and Sadducees,

01:23there was only one way a person could pay for that.

01:28What was it?

01:29Going to jail?

01:31No.

01:32Death.

01:34No!

01:35There was a problem for the Pharisees and Sadducees, though.

01:40Even if the Pharisees and Sadducees said Jesus was guilty,

01:45they weren't allowed to kill anyone.

01:47Only Roman leaders could do that.

01:50So, they took him to the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate.

01:55Wait.

01:57What?

01:58Pontius Pilate?

01:59Not a Pilate.

02:02Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor.

02:04And when he saw Jesus and his accusers,

02:08he was a little confused.

02:11Huh.

02:11Are they upset?

02:14What have you done that has made everyone so angry?

02:19Again, Jesus didn't say anything.

02:21So, Pilate turned to the religious leaders and said,

02:25I don't see anything wrong with this man.

02:28Well, according to our rules,

03:55and a Roman guard standing nearby said,

03:59This man must have been the Son of God.

04:02But, where were the disciples?

04:05All of Jesus' friends.

04:07His mother was with him

04:08and a few of his friends.

04:11The others probably didn't know what to think.

04:14How could Jesus be the Messiah,

04:17the blessing for the whole world,

04:20if he wasn't even alive?

04:23Jesus had done some amazing things while he was living.

04:27Like lots of miracles.

04:29That's right.

04:32Stop!

04:33And, he'd shown everyone

04:36that God the Father was very loving

04:38and good and powerful.

04:41He had also promised

04:43that the kingdom of God was near.

04:46He'd given everyone a taste of that kingdom

04:49through those miracles.

04:51What's the kingdom of God?

04:53The kingdom of God is when

04:55the whole world will be made new again,

04:58the way God had always wanted it to be.

05:01Jesus promised that someday,

05:04in the kingdom of God,

05:05there will be no sin,

05:07or sadness,

05:08or sickness,

05:08or death.

05:09What is sin again?

05:11Sin is when we ignore God

05:14and go our own way.

05:16Sin is when we say,

05:18I don't care what you say,

05:20I'm going to do it my way.

05:22And remember,

05:24because God is good and sin is bad,

05:27the price we pay for our sin

05:28is being apart from God.

05:32Ouch!

05:32Oh, so in the kingdom of God,

05:36there will be no sin,

05:38or sadness,

05:40or sickness.

05:41In the kingdom of God,

05:43there will be nothing to be afraid of,

05:46not even death.

05:48But, Jesus had just died.

05:51Ah, so it seemed like

05:53none of those promises were coming true.

05:55But, that was not the case.

05:59Really?

06:00What do you mean?

06:02You see,

06:02something more amazing was happening

06:05that Jesus' enemies didn't realize.

06:08When he died on the cross,

06:11Jesus took all of our sin

06:13on himself.

06:14He did?

06:21You see,

06:22since our sin turns us away from God,

06:25there can be no sin in the kingdom of God.

06:28So,

06:29Jesus had to fix the problem of sin.

06:33And he did that by dying on the cross?

06:36Yes.

06:37By dying on the cross,

06:39Jesus paid the price for our sins.

06:42Yours,

06:43mine,

06:43everyone's.

06:45Wow.

06:47Jesus really loves us.

06:49He sure does.

06:52But...

06:53Another question?

06:55What about all the things

06:57that he said about the kingdom?

06:59I still don't get it.

07:01If Jesus was dead,

07:03how could any of those promises come true?

07:06That's a really good question.

07:08With an even better answer.

07:12Because,

07:12he didn't stay dead.

07:19May he never met and by the sea,

07:23he said,

07:24and I'm not hungry.

07:25Yeah,

07:26but I'm not happy to be able,

07:27but I'm very angry.

07:31I wouldn't be dead.
