00:00What does the reopening of the Damascus Stock Exchange signal
00:05about the country's economic future after 14 years of civil war?
00:12It signals really a positive step towards economic recovery and stabilization.
00:22It signals to the whole world that Syria is opening a new page with the world
00:28in the case that the government is ready to revitalize the economy
00:35and push that economic growth even further and further,
00:39trying to attract more investment, open for the world.
00:44You know Syria has been, since 1979, under a country that supports terrorists.
00:53So we are isolated. We've been isolated from the whole world.
00:56Even we have previously Damascus Stock Exchange,
01:00but it's really like some sort of like paralyzed stage.
01:05It's not really very active.
01:07They used to open three days a week from 10 to 1 o'clock, three days only.
01:13So it's really, it was just a building with not much activity there.
01:24But right now, they are heading toward more effective stock market.
