00:00I don't like to say people should lose their job because, you know, hey, you know, people got families, you know, you know, things go certain ways and, you know, in certain businesses, that's a, that's a, that affects a lot of people.
00:19Shouldn't, but somebody over there with the Astros and the Dyke and Park over there, they, somebody needs to lose their job.
00:30Like somebody, however you want to call it, fired, you can't come in, here no more, we're going to relieve you of your duties, we're laying you off.
00:43Like somebody has to lose their job.
00:48Pack up your locker.
00:49Yeah, like we don't have to be rude about it, but like somebody, the Jordan Alvarez thing, and by the way, Zach DiCenzo, who is on the IL,
01:00with left hand inflammation, I'll just assume his is broken too.
01:04These nuts.
01:05And listen, I, listen, the Astros, I've never had any problems with the Astros.
01:10I'm certain they probably don't love this as they're listening to the number one sports show here in Houston.
01:15The top ranked show in the city.
01:18But they can't have the, the Jordan Alvarez situation, Luke and Tyler cannot happen.
01:24And obviously this isn't a standalone thing.
01:27This is the second time that they have had a, a, well, their best player.
01:35The second time they've had a huge, huge piece to this team, Kyle Tucker last year, and Jordan Alvarez this year.
01:44And they have apparently either misjudged an injury, lied about it.
01:51I don't even want to get to the Lance McCullers, how we went from him pitching in 2022.
01:56And then the next time we saw him, I would have seen some misjudgment in that one.
02:02But to come away with bone bruise and then all, actually, Kyle Tucker did have a fracture in his shin.
02:10To, uh, just, uh, just inflammation.
02:14And this cat keep coming, telling you, no, something's, something's off.
02:18Something hurts.
02:18I have, I, I'm in pain, you know, and continue to let him swing, work on it, do all this stuff.
02:26And then to come back, ah, boy, actually we did catch it.
02:32Uh, it's a, uh, it actually is a, a fraction.
02:36Which end was he looking from?
02:37I don't know, uh, to the late Sylvester Turner.
02:41Uh, yeah, we lost him.
02:43Um, but that, this is, this is inexcusable.
02:47Uh, this can't happen.
02:50I don't know if, I would imagine it's probably not good that he continued to work on it.
03:01As we now know, he is just completely being shut down.
03:04You would think maybe he would have, it should have been completely shut down when it was at a 100% break.
03:10Like, like it, it's a, Tyler, you said it before the show.
03:15Hey, man, damn, this was bad luck.
03:16All right, this happened, this wasn't, this was bad luck.
03:19Nah, man, this didn't happen too many damn times.
03:22Yeah.
03:23Kyle Tucker might have been bad.
03:24Well, the, uh, Lance McCullers might have been bad luck.
03:29But, nah, man, this is, this is too many damn times.
03:32Somebody cannot keep being the one that they go to when it comes to these injuries.
03:39Now there's not even a timetable with how long he sits.
03:43This cannot happen.
03:45And it is happening too many times.
03:47And now, anyone who texts in and people who feel the use of, I think it's a fair thing to say,
03:54hey, man, why we have all these elbow injuries?
03:57Why we have all these injuries with pitchers?
04:00Is it something that, like, I'll say this, Luke, and you can go, I'm telling you,
04:03Ronald Charles Hugley II.
04:07The show man.
04:09Some of you called the show.
04:12This guy.
04:13I'll tell you, this is for me.
04:14Not Luke, not Tyler.
04:16This is for me.
04:17I, it is hard for me to believe that the Astros are getting the best when it comes to medical
04:30treatment, when it comes to trainers, when it comes to this.
04:36I do not believe, and I could be wrong, I could be dead wrong on this, Luke and Tyler.
04:41I do not believe that if every team in Major League Baseball had these issues,
04:50that it would be as bad for those teams as it is for the Astros.
04:55I'm sorry.
04:55Like I said, I could be dead wrong on this, Luke, but this, like, they got a problem over there.
05:03Yeah, and the irony is the location, too, that you are in Houston with this great, you know,
05:08it's a great medical city.
05:09You know what?
05:10Elsewhere, maybe Lance McCullers is back after three months instead of three years.
05:13Who knows?
05:14Or maybe we diagnose this immediately.
05:19Just go and tell him, man, maybe we can rehab through these bone spurs without surgery.
05:24It sounds harsh calling for, or potentially calling for someone's job, but it's not based
05:28off of this one example.
05:29If this was the first time this has happened with this organization, it would seem like an
05:34overreaction.
05:35But the fact that, as you laid out, this has become a common occurrence for the Astros.
05:39Especially with the pitchers where, A, the amount of injuries that occur, and then, B,
05:43the amount of setbacks that then occur with those pitchers as they try to work their way
05:46back from the original injuries is not good.
05:49And I think Dana Brown's comments were damning over the weekend where, on the flagship, he
05:53was interviewed about this whole Jordan situation.
05:55I think it was yesterday after this news came out.
05:58And he said we could have done things differently.
06:00And acknowledged they missed this in their first scans way back on, I think it was May 6.
06:04And then also, if I understand correctly, Jordan got this news because he went to a different
06:10independent doctor away from the team.
06:13Look, Jordan's words sounds like he don't trust these jokers at all.
06:16I don't blame him.
06:16And I don't know why you would.
06:18Right.
06:19So these are all very bad signs for the Astros organization and certainly the medical staff
06:24that it seems like they just keep botching these things.
06:26And how did you miss this originally?
06:28How did you let this go on?
06:29And you acknowledge, yeah, we probably didn't handle it the best, let alone it's your star
06:33hitter.
06:34And then he has to go elsewhere for a second opinion just to figure out what truly is going
06:38on.
06:38It's all a terrible look for the way that this has gone for the Astros.
06:43And I also find it interesting that, you know, I would question like Jim Crane and ownership
06:47or even Dana Brown in the front office.
06:48Like, aren't you tired of this?
06:50Don't you want to do something different or make a change?
06:52Because if you're in ownership, you're just throwing money away with these pitchers or these
06:55guys.
06:55Kyle Tucker last year that you're paying.
06:59You should be so frustrated with this process of you're told one thing and then you find
07:05out actually Jordan has a pretty serious injury that's going to keep him out for a while.
07:09And you could have done things differently in how you conduct your business around this
07:12roster weeks ago.
07:14So I'm also surprised that this continues to happen, that this is allowed to continue to
07:19happen by both ownership and front office.
07:21You'd imagine they'd want different results as well, just like how frustrated the fans are.
07:25Do you think I'm being too hard on this?
07:28Well, it's a problem.
07:30It's a massive problem.
07:32Like you said, they could not like, at some point, if I'm Jim Crane, like, look, fellas,
07:38man, this, this, this thing may have the, the, the Dodgers staff would have maybe in the
07:44same position, whoever staff may be in the same position, but I got to do something different
07:48fellas.
07:49Like we got to like, it's just like a coat.
07:51Like I got to do something different, man.
07:52Yeah.
07:53You know, you, you may still be able to do your job and maybe catch on somewhere, but
07:57like, where's JP France?
07:59The hell is JP France?
08:01I'm scared to death.
08:04When I saw Luis is going to throw a bullpen session over the weekend.
08:08I mean, he stops and starts.
08:09He has.
08:10Yeah.
08:10Where are they?
08:11Those are Katie.
08:11Is he alive?
08:12I know that he's not with the Astros anymore, but let's hope he's alive.
08:16But I mean, can he throw?
08:21Good God.
08:22This is, it's insane.
08:23And you talk, you talk about it.
08:25They're throwing away money.
08:27What they have done, like the money that they have just punted on with Lance McCullers is
08:32insane.
08:33Oh my God.
08:34They're like, this is unexcusable.
08:36There is no way of putting him down.
08:41This is Jordan FN Alvarez.
08:43This is your best player.
08:47Jordan.
08:48My man, like Jordan, I look like he's like, Hey man, I'll go out here and take some swings.
08:51But man, this, this S is hurting.
08:55Hey coach.
08:56Like there's like, there's no way any of them.
08:59Everybody in there has got their own doctor.
09:01No way.
09:02Anybody can trust any of them.
09:04None of them.
09:05The other thing too, I didn't like Dana Brown said about in hindsight, he said, maybe we
09:10shouldn't have let your Don fight through this.
09:13That's another part.
09:14Whereas the training staff or the team, you have to, all these great athletes want to
09:18be out there.
09:18You have to protect them from themselves.
09:20Sometimes got to protect them from themselves.
09:22They're competitive ass people.
09:23They're going to tell you they're okay.
09:25They're going to tell you they want to be out there.
09:26No, you have a fracture.
09:28Yeah.
09:28So that's a red flag to me too.
09:30You said something before the show that, that I thought was good.
09:35You said, um, your, your belief when this first happened, some of these injury things
09:41was happening was just, they're trying to be coy and, and like New England Patriots,
09:47Bill O'Brien with the Texans kind of coy of, yeah, man, we ain't going to give you,
09:52give you like, like the Texans.
09:53We'll talk about CJ because we have news on that.
09:55Like the Texans.
09:56Oh yeah.
09:57Everybody's on their same, on their, on their own.
10:00Got their own unique workout plan, man.
10:03Their timeframe.
10:04Like you thought it was that.
10:05Now you've come to a place where you, where you feel different about the injury stuff.
10:09Correct.
10:10Yeah.
10:10And, and, and this is, you've laid it out beautifully.
10:13I mean, this has been an ongoing issue and becoming a bigger problem in our eyes, the
10:17more.
10:19It becomes this injury and how the Astros go about reporting these injuries.
10:24This problem has been around a while.
10:26And my, my thinking from the beginning was, this is a problem, but you know, this is, this
10:31is them doing their, as you say, New England Patriots impersonation.
10:34This is them being tight lipped, uh, trying to get every competitive air quotes advantage
10:39they can.
10:40And now it's happening so much.
10:43And, and, and in such a big way, like what we're saying with Yordan, who's arguably the
10:48best hitter in baseball right now, that I got to step back and think, okay, hold on.
10:53I'm not even 100%.
10:54I don't, I don't even know if they're being tight lipped now.
10:57I want, it might just be incompetent.
10:59Like I do not know if the people in care of the health of these players are competent
11:04enough, or if it's a blend of the two.
11:05I think if you are a psycho fan like Tyler, or just any kind of fan of the Astros, I think
11:13it is fair to wonder, do the, do the guys handling these players, are they completely
11:20understanding of what they're doing?
11:22I don't even know if Ron Hill really had it at, at a UCL blown.
11:29Yeah.
11:30Go see an independent doctor for your second opinion.
11:32He did go get a second opinion.
11:33I do remember that.
11:34Maybe he might need to get a third.
11:35Yeah.
11:35Away from the team.
11:36I do agree.
11:37The Kyle Tucker thing last year seemed like a lack of transparency in that gamemanship.
11:41This with Yordan just reeks of not knowing what you're doing.
11:44Well, when I hear the Yordan thing, it makes me think, when did, at what point did they figure
11:50out, oh God, this thing in a bone bruise with Kyle Tucker, this is a fracture.
11:54Exactly.
11:55Yeah.
11:55And you said it, I think, last week.
11:57Terrifying to think of it.
11:57We were on last time.
12:00I look back.
12:02Like, and they've done it again.
12:03The amount of texts and stuff we've gotten and received, man, he's just a diva.
12:08No, man, this dude over here has got, has got a broken hand.
12:11And they're like, yeah, man, keep taking hacks.
12:14Let's bring up some live pitching for you.
12:17Hey.
12:17And this thing, hey, it's hurt.
12:18That's official.
12:19No, just keep going.
12:19Just keep going.
12:20Hey, it's at 60% healed though.
12:23What would love to know how they came up with that number.
12:25Now at 60, we're going to go ahead and shut him down.
12:27Would love to.
12:2860, you ain't lying.
12:29How did they flip a coin on 60?
12:31They had to come up with a number that would cover them enough.
12:35It's the majority.
12:36Yeah, right.
12:37Again, somebody, somebody cannot keep working on this.
12:42Maybe there's another gig in the, in the organization, but somebody's got to stop working on this.
12:47Somebody else got to look at these pictures, these imageries.
12:50They might not care because it's almost like it's.
12:52They need to get the Texans people over there.
12:53Almost like they're trawling, right?
12:55Then they trotted one of the doc, the hand doctor out there this weekend to honor him.
12:58So.
