01:03Aspired Alliance team who joined the rescue team in Mokwa in a statement on Monday said that as of Monday afternoon,
01:10the death toll has risen to 153.

01:20153 dead bodies have been recovered as a result of the Mokwa flood disaster,
01:25with search and recovery operations still ongoing.
01:28Aspire Alliance team are very much on site to access the situations at the separate IDP camps inaugurated.
01:36It was gathered that the relief materials from Hajiya Fatima Mohamed Bago,
01:40wife of Niger State's governor, have arrived at the IDP's camp in Pegay Primary School, Mokwa.
01:47Distribution to affected families will begin immediately, as instructed by the council chairman,
01:53according to local media.

02:04Mokwa Flooding Situation Report Updates is at 10pm, Saturday, May 31, 2025.
02:12The National Emergency Management Agency, together with other sister emergency response bodies,
02:18is intensifying efforts to rescue and save missing persons and provide relief to disaster victims and their families.
02:25Our rapid response and recovery team conducted a symbolic distribution of the relief materials to affected persons
02:32and then handed over to the local government area, SEMA, and community leader, Sarkhan Housawa, to continue the distribution.
02:41So far, 151 bodies have been recovered, 503 households and 264 houses have been affected,
02:49and 3,018 individuals displaced.
02:53We are also closely monitoring the full recovery of all the initially admitted victims at various health centers
02:59that are now treated and discharged.
03:02The two township roads and bridges that were damaged by the flooding have impacted vehicular movement
03:07and economic activities negatively.
03:10Working together with the state government,
03:12we are rerouting traffic to alternative roads within the town.
03:16We are providing potable water for domestic use of residents within the affected communities,
03:22including other hygiene measures,
03:24to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases associated with flooding disasters.
03:29In line with the directive of President Bola Tanubu,
03:32all hands are on deck to ensure that every necessary support is provided to the town during this trying time
03:38while the situation is generally getting back to normal.
03:41On Friday, she said,
03:44Today, I led a team from our headquarters to join other emergency responders at the ongoing search and rescue operations
03:51in Pegay area of Mokwa following the devastating flood that recently hit the community
03:56to oversee on the site assessment of the unfortunate disaster.
04:00The epicenters of the disaster have been identified as Ounguan Housawa and Tiffin Mazza neighborhoods in
04:06Mokwa Township.
04:08While most of the rescued victims are currently receiving medical treatment at various health care centers in the town,
04:15others with mild pain received immediate first aid at the sites of rescue.
04:19Tragically, no fewer than 100 lives were claimed and bodies recovered.
04:25Nima also today delivered relief materials to the family of the disaster survivors through Comrade Yakubu Gaba,
04:32the deputy governor of the state.
04:33These items include essential food and non-food supplies.
04:38Our water treatment equipment, earlier deployed, are also providing drinking water to affected communities.
04:46An ex-social media user, Abu Mokwa on Saturday tweeted with photographs of families allegedly killed by the floodwaters
04:53and stated that,
04:54This family too.
04:56Most families were completely washed away cause the floods emerged around 5am when some of them were still sleeping.
05:03Those who were awake and escaped to the rooftops were later washed away too because the buildings couldn't longer withstand the flood.
