Hundreds of people are missing and thousands more have had their homes destroyed after a dam collapsed in southern Laos, causing flash flooding across six villages.

The Xepian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam collapsed in Attapeu province late on Monday (July 23).

Aerial footage shows the district of Sanamxai submerged.
