Urgent evacuations wrap up before flood peaks in the NT’s one-in-100-year flood

Flooding on the McArthur River has peaked with levels now slowly starting to recede, but the scale of the damage in Borroloola remains unknown. Despite problems with river level gauges, the bureau says it is confident the worst of the flooding has passed. While evacuees find shelter in Darwin, it is not clear when it will be safe to return home, or what they will be returning home to.
