Lynnell reacts to an amazing west coast trip from the Washington Nationals.
Transcript
00:00a historic weekend for the Washington Nationals.
00:03And it's crazy because I keep going back to the Ken Rosenthal piece
00:08that was published in The Athletic last week,
00:11really, you know, highlighting the Nats and their inability to draft,
00:15develop, and retain talent, right?
00:18So to me, and the irony about all of this is over the past couple of weeks,
00:26and I'll pull up the exact numbers here in a second,
00:29and not only does the – now that we sit here on Monday,
00:33does the timing of that article kind of look silly at this point.
00:37The Nationals are actually playing really good baseball.
00:39Heading into yesterday, and obviously they lost the series finale to Arizona,
00:43but heading into yesterday, there were winners of four in a row.
00:46They had won 10 out of their last 13 in a whopping 38 runs
00:50over their past four games.
00:52If you looked at that series versus Seattle at the tail end of last week
00:56and then the weekend series with the Diamondbacks, 38 runs –
01:01that was 41 runs scored over the course of the past four games,
01:05and they finished the month of May with a record above .500.
01:09So for all the talk about it being doomsday around here for the Washington Nationals,
01:15I think they're playing pretty well.
01:17I'll even take it a step further.
01:19This was actually leading into yesterday, via Nats communication.
01:24They had had the best record in all of Major League Baseball dating back to May 14th.
01:29So this talking point of this group being out of it,
01:35this group being dead in the right to one of the bottom feeders of Major League Baseball,
01:39I honestly –
01:41I honestly –
