00:00and we have some news just coming in at this point in time let's take a look at these developments
00:09the prime minister of india prime minister modi is unlikely to attend the g7 meeting in canada
00:14is what they're learning canada yet to invite and india isn't interested clearly frosty ties
00:22and the karlistan link take a toll on india-canada ties but pranay this is something that india
00:29isn't going to you know even speak about or pay any heat to given that the sort of a reaction from
00:35canada but expected we know that ties are you know have hit rock bottom of the last few months or so
00:41and reasons uh you know this is to be it's canada alone is to be blamed for this at the end of the
00:47day isn't it you're absolutely right sneha but this clearly shows the frosty and the strange state of
00:53relationship between india and canada which was uh you know actually set in motion by none other than
00:58the canadian former prime minister justin trudeau in in august 2020 september 2023 when he just
01:03completed visit of india and he went back and on the floor of parliament uh he alleged india of
01:09perpetrating you know uh of targeted killing in in canada but thereafter we see we have seen the
01:14series of like you know uh the attack on india by the canadian officials in terms of the like
01:20verbal attacks and there was and thereafter there was also reduction in the diplomatic staff
01:25uh therefore uh it's not about g7 or the g8 or in the international conference this is all about
01:30the the uh the relationship with the host country as well and therefore this it's very unlikely that
01:35prime minister of india the red moody's uh will travel to canada on the for the g7 summit if it
01:40happens uh then it will be for the first time in six years because india is uh among the special
01:46invitee countries for the g7 and g8 countries for long uh and uh if this happens because uh this is also a
01:52statement for canada that canada is not being able to include the major economies uh because uh g7 and
01:59and has been a process of including major developed uh you know global economies uh the the the western
02:05countries and they have uh there is an inclination to engage with india because india has become the
02:10fourth largest economy in the world and therefore there is an uh of all the countries who hosted the
02:16previous g7 summits have invited india beat italy beat uh beat france but all those countries uh did
02:23that but so far there is no invite from the canadian side and not there is an inclination on the indian
02:27side to to uh to take to have a such visit to canada also as neha there is a concern regarding the
02:34security arrangements in in canada we have seen how uh you know indian high commissioners indian
02:38officials have been held by the khalistani elements in canada and therefore uh there there is uh there
02:44is a reluctance on the indian side to have any such visit uh uh though last week uh prime uh
02:51excellent affairs minister of india uh dr jay shankar had a conversation with the canadian uh
02:56counterpart anita anand however that was only uh for the for the sake of curtsies and because there
03:02is a new government in place in canada but it is the continuation of the same policy and the same party
03:07we are yet to see uh and more so the last point i wanted to say that uh uh we are not even having a
03:13high commissioner in in canada so before undertaking before having any such high profile visit you need
03:18to have at least a high commissioner and we do not have even a high commissioner currently in place in
03:22in ottawa be with us i'll be getting in in fact robinder says the foreign affairs expert thank you so
03:27much for your time i want to ask you how do you look at this india isn't obviously keen either and the
03:34invitation hasn't come there are security concerns as well the ties between india and canada have hit
03:40rock bottom over the last few months or so the first time in years together six years to be precise
03:47that the prime minister will not be going for g7 thank you so much you know on the one hand it indicates
03:54the fraying world order right right now the world is in a flux and a new matrix is being also these are
04:01vectors playing out there india is on the right uh india comes as a one of the nodes of the world
04:10now regarding canada yes we have downturn in our relations during crudo now the next prime minister
04:16definitely is repairing those relations but i think maybe by not going india is coming to canada that
04:21we would like to see some demonstrable progress shown by the canadians towards our concerns so i think one
04:30could i would look at it as of law with the information that we are available available in
04:34that sense you know i want to ask you this is uh also a concern on the part of india as far as safety
04:42is concerned uh how do you expect india to respond to this you know the fact that this is a group of the
04:49you know world's most economically advanced nations and india not being a part of this important summit this
04:55time around oh absolutely it has multiple applications especially right now when you
05:01do the world economic and trade order is being heavily re-juggled in a way right and india not
05:07being there now but on the other hand regards the questions of security and all i think that it is
05:13actually uh a blow to the image of canada that it cannot arrange i mean if any security is the
05:20canadian government you know which cannot guarantee security but i don't think we are india is looking
05:25at even that if the prime minister has to go he will go or if it's decided right security would be
05:31the last and security would be taken care of in any case i don't think security should be or is any
05:37element of worry whatsoever but the mere mention of this happening especially through khalistani elements
05:42who are promoting this narrative and discourse i think is a blow to the image of canada as a
05:47responsible law-abiding nation and that's what india has been asking for ever since several years
05:54all right i'm going to thank you for joining in with your views on that canada remember isn't
05:59inviting india and india also clearly not keen given the manner in which our ties have hit
06:04rock bottom over the last few years the encouragement for sikh separatists
06:08khalistanis in canada which has irked and angered india india isn't going to be a part of the g7 meet
06:15is what we are learning at this point in time
