01:30En termes de, you know, other than, you know, serve better and stuff like that, is there something else that you can do?
01:38I mean, I can play those games better.
01:40I mean, I think I served a bit more aggressive in the first set, so I was holding easier and maybe got a little bit too passive on the serve in the second.
01:47And it allowed her to get back into the match in those ways.
01:52So, yeah, I think just keeping the aggressive mindset is something that I can do better for the next match.
01:59Coco, how important was it for you to keep it down to two sets and not get dragged to a third one to, you know, to get the second set?
02:08Yeah, I mean, it was obviously important and I know she can make the rallies long and play long points.
02:16And, you know, I don't know how long the second set was, but it felt pretty long.
02:22So, yeah, I think just for long term wise and obviously mentally, it's a lot better to finish that in two sets.
02:30And, yeah, it gives me a little bit more confidence in finding ways to win, maybe playing opponents like that and try not to kind of self-destruct.
02:41Your brother, Cody, he plays baseball, right?
02:46Is that right?
02:46I'm curious, as a pro athlete, what is it like having a younger brother who's an aspiring athlete and how much do you give him any help or advice or if he doesn't want any at all?
02:56Yeah, I don't really give him any advice.
02:59He's a pretty hard worker on his own.
03:01I think he's probably maybe I would hope maybe learn some stuff from watching me, but I kind of tend to stay out of that world.
03:07The only thing I've told him is just to be more commanding on because he's a catcher and I feel like they, you know, control the pace and can control the game in a lot of ways.
03:16So just try to tell him to, you know, show his personality as he is at home to do it on the field.
03:21And, but other than that, I mean, I don't try not to, I try to stay out of it because I can, I know, like with my parents, it's sometimes annoying for them to give advice when they never played the sport in a high level.
03:33So I try not to give him too much because obviously I never play baseball.
03:37So I don't know how it is out there.
03:39I enjoyed watching the video you posted of your brothers playing tennis.
03:44Oh, yeah.
03:44What was that like?
03:45Yeah, I mean, they are always arguing and, and especially when it's tennis, because Cameron actually plays and, but Cody doesn't know how to do anything but slice and he's sometimes actually can, he's learned how to hit a forehand for some reason, but mostly just slice.
03:59And, um, yeah, Cam just gets really frustrated.
04:02He's asked me to delete the video multiple times.
04:04Um, but I told him I wasn't because at that point it was everywhere.
04:07People were at school were, you know, bringing it up and stuff.
04:10But yeah, it just made me to hold him accountable because he has really a hot head and Cody just knows how to instigate.
04:18We both know how to get in his head.
04:19And, um, I've learned that it's maybe not fair to gang up on him.
04:23So I've just set, take a step back and just watch Cody do it.
04:27Um, but yeah, he can get under his skin, but hopefully, uh, he'll, he'll use that experience in the future that no one can quite get under your skin like your siblings.
04:35Um, Madison was talking about how, uh, took her sort of a long time in her career to learn that it's a good idea to maybe get away from the tennis center, leave your hotel, go out for meals with friends, do some sightseeing as she travels the world on the tour.
04:56Is that something you do actively, regularly, intentionally get away from things, see the cities you're in?
05:06Have you always done that?
05:07Did your parents encourage that maybe?
05:10Um, yeah.
05:11Um, it's something that I started off actually doing pretty well and then COVID happened.
05:16And so I got like, so used to the routine of hotel and that, and then, so I kind of carried it on after that, but I realized it wasn't maybe a healthy state for me mentally, just, you know, being in it like all the time.
05:29Um, so yeah, it's something I intentionally tried to do, especially on the off days or, um, like yesterday I didn't escape room, just trying to plan something and do stuff with other people.
05:37It is something I have to actively do because so I can easily just sit in my room.
05:40But I think in the long term, it's, you know, you don't, I've talked to former players and players who are currently on tour and they, they, some of them just regret maybe not, uh, appreciating the experiences off court.
05:53And so they encouraged me to kind of try to do those things.
05:58Um, so yeah, I, I, it's something I intentionally try to do.
06:01And when you are doing those kinds of things, is it with people on your team usually or other players or mix?
06:08Um, a mix. Sometimes I do stuff with my team, but I feel like they get tired, tired of me.
06:13So I usually let them do their own thing.
06:15And, you know, sometimes I get tired of seeing them too, to be honest.
06:17Um, but, um, usually with friends I've done, uh, I did dinner with Robin, Montgomery.
06:24Um, I've done escape rooms with Chris and Ben before I did one with, uh, Anna and Carter.
06:30Um, so name drop him in here, but yeah, so just mixing up the people.
06:36Um, I noticed that I've gotten tired of just dinner with my parents, so I've ditched them
06:40a few times and I'm sure they're tired of doing dinner with me.
06:43So yeah, just trying to mix up the personalities.
06:46I mean, could I just ask, are you good at escape rooms or what's the best of the group?
06:51You know, it depends on escape room.
06:53The one yesterday had a lot of math involved and it's something that I just, I'm not the
06:58greatest at math and mental math at that.
07:00So yeah, I'm not the best at that, but when it's like word stuff, that's where I really
07:05thrive and word play and things like that.
07:07So yesterday I definitely think I was like the worst player in the room, but there have
07:13been times where I have been the best player.
07:14So it depends on the room.
07:17Curious from what something Ben Shelton said the other day, what does this tournament feel
07:21have a different feel to you because of TNT being here and having this new big American
07:25network and presence in Paris.
07:27And you've obviously played this tournament several times.
07:28And it's also, does it just change the buzz or the vibe around US players and, you know,
07:34atmosphere at this place?
07:36And also the US results have been really good.
07:37There's like eight men, five women, three men in the fourth round.
07:41Yeah, I think it does help with our sport, especially in the US, because I don't think
07:47we didn't, I felt, well, from my perspective, I don't know what the numbers say, but I felt
07:52like maybe like during this tournament, particularly the US audience was kind of lost.
07:57At least I've noticed with the growth in my socials and stuff that I would get more growth
08:01in Wimbledon or US Open and even maybe Australia than here.
08:06So I definitely think the coverage is helping.
08:08And I don't know if it's necessarily helping our results, but for sure when it comes to
08:13that.
08:13But yeah, it's been cool just to be on TikTok and, you know, seeing like people in the
08:18comments, like rooting for us and things like that.
08:20So yeah, I think it's great that we have this coverage on introducing tennis and especially
08:26this tournament to more audiences in the US, which I feel like maybe before we, it wasn't
08:31happening as much.
08:33When a player is trying to extend points and just play those long rallies, are you sort
08:40of like, yeah, I can do that.
08:42I can do this.
08:43You want to like, you want to play this way?
08:45Given your confidence in your fitness, is that sort of something that goes through your
08:50head?
08:51Yeah, for sure.
08:52I remember there was a point in the second and she ended up winning the point.
08:56I kind of looked over and I saw she was kind of bent over and tired.
09:00And like, I was aware that my heartbeat wasn't really high at all.
09:03It felt fine.
09:04So, and I know that's her game style.
09:07So yeah, I did feel like, okay, I can do this too.
09:11And especially like the, you know, the, I had to generate a lot of the pay.
09:16So I felt like in those points, I could have been more aggressive as well.
09:19So yeah, I definitely feel more confidence in, in when people resort to that, just because
09:24of the fact that I feel like physically it's, it, there's very few players on tour who can
09:29hang in there with me.
09:30And, um, I think the person so far that has pushed me to that has definitely been Quinn
09:34Wynn.
09:34We've played over three hours multiple times and she looks fine after the match.
09:39And so do I, um, but other than that, I don't think there's that many people that I've
09:42played that I've done three hours where they've kind of looked fine after the match.
