01:59can you sort of talk us through the last couple of days and how you spent the time, things you did ?
02:05I know you've played a lot during qualifying, so it's probably nice to have a little bit of rest.
02:09And then also, just sort of this morning, like what was your routine ?
02:14I know you haven't done this very much, but like what is that, what did that look like to get you in the right headspace heading into this match ?
02:22Yeah, I mean, so the last match I played was two days ago, so two days is quite a bit of time between the first and second round,
02:30but I think I kept it pretty relaxed and chill, you know.
02:34I kind of had a day off the day after my match, only did some fitness and some light hitting, and then I did a light practice again yesterday.
02:43So, I mean, it's been really, really calm between the days, and that's how my coach wanted it to be anyways.
02:51And this morning, I mean, I kind of woke up pretty early and did my usual routine like I would normally do before a match.
03:00Yeah, it was pretty normal. Oh, okay, yeah, okay.
03:03So, I'd say I woke up around like 6.45 and like had a quick breakfast and got here around like 8.45, did a physical warm-up,
03:16physical, or, and practice I think around like 9.30 to 10, and then I just chilled in the locker room until my match.
03:23Next question.
03:25Just wanted, I, congratulations, just wondered how looking ahead to your next match, big opponent, big stage.
03:31Yeah.
03:32How are you kind of feeling about that?
03:34Yeah, I mean, I feel like I'm not really so focused on it right now.
03:37Of course, she's a, she, my next opponent, she's a really good player, and I know it's going to be a very difficult match for me.
03:44But, you know, I, I just finished my match like not that long ago, so I'm still trying to like settle down a little bit and keep it relaxed.
03:52I have a day off tomorrow anyway, so I'm going to start thinking about it maybe like the night before my match anyways.
03:59Next question.
04:00Hello, Victoria.
04:01It's your first club and you made it to the third round.
04:04How do you manage all the emotions at 18 years old?
04:08And also you mentioned the sacrifices of your, your father.
04:11Can you tell us a bit more about that?
04:13Yeah.
04:14Yeah.
04:15I mean, I feel really happy right now.
04:17And yeah, I, of course, there's, there's so much happening even like behind the scenes.
04:24But, you know, I feel like my, my family has been doing a good job of keeping me really like, I guess, isolated from it all.
04:33And I've just been enjoying the moment.
04:35I've been enjoying time with my sister and my brother.
04:38And yeah, I mean, I don't have a such a, so many people around me and it's kept me very like calm and very comfortable.
04:47And to my father, you know, he, he's retired now.
04:51But you know, when, when I was training a lot, he was working night shifts so that he could be at every single one of my practices, especially when I was a junior.
04:59And he was very, I guess, like strict with my tennis, I could say, but yeah, I mean, he's, he's done so much to, to help me develop and try to bring me to really great trainings and coaches.
05:12So, not many of this wouldn't have been possible without him.
05:18Congratulations.
05:19I'm a journalist from China.
05:21Mm-hm.
05:22So, do you know anything about Queen Wing Zheng?
05:25Um, I mean, I, she's top 10, you know, so, so that's like already a big thing overall.
05:33I mean, she's beaten so many great players.
05:35He's, she's also an incredible athlete.
05:37So, I mean, I'm, I'm expecting a big fight.
05:40I'm going to, I'm going to bring out a big fight against her.
05:44And, uh, yeah, I think it's going to be a very hard battle for me.
05:47What are your expectations for the next round?
05:51My expectations, um, I, I feel like I don't really like to put a lot of expectations on myself or of the outcome of the match.
06:00I mean, the only expectations that I, I can feel right now is that it's going to be a very difficult match.
06:06I'm going to be, of course, it's going to be very tiring.
06:09I'm going to have to build points very long and, and I'll have to bring out my best tennis.
06:16So that's, that's only, that's all I can really expect for now.
06:20Yeah.
06:22Well done.
06:23Um, this win should solidify you, uh, in the top hundred.
06:27I don't know.
06:28Is it something that you follow in any way?
06:31Was it an objective of yours?
06:33Uh, did you expect that to happen this tournament or any time in the near future?
06:39Yeah, honestly, I, I would have never expected that at all.
06:42I mean, it's, it's really exciting to be honest, but I didn't really, I didn't know at all, to be honest, until my, I think my,
06:49my parents told me, but, uh, yeah, I mean, that's, that's a really great accomplishment.
06:54I mean, who, who wouldn't want to be top 100?
06:57You know, that's, that's one of the, you're amongst one of the top best in the world.
07:02You're playing grand slams all, most of the time.
07:04So, uh, yeah, I think that's a pretty great milestone for me regarding that.
07:09I was like around 300 at the beginning of the year.
07:11So I think that was a pretty big jump for me and, uh, I'm happy so far.
07:16Victoria, congratulations.
07:20My question comes from Brazil and it's a bit off topic.
07:23You have a namesake in Brazil, Victoria Barros.
07:26She's 15.
07:27She's going to play the girls draw.
07:29And, uh, she posted today a message, a good luck message to you in Instagram.
07:34I'd like to know, um, how, um, how friends you are and where you met.
07:40And if you have some advice for her, who is 15 and how to get, uh, at your age, uh, at such a stage and, uh, withstand the pressure.
07:50Yeah.
07:51So I think I met Victoria when like, she was a very little girl.
07:55She was very small.
07:57Um, I was playing a junior tournament in Brazil in 2022 and I think I met her and her mom at, she was playing, I think the, the junior tournament of the tournament we were playing.
08:09So, I mean, yeah, she was a very cute little girl and she was, she asked me for a photo and I think I talked with them a little bit.
08:15And I, I actually saw her recently at the Miami open and she grew so much.
08:20And she, she, I think she, I mean, she's playing really great tennis, I think, cause she's like, she's getting better in the junior ranking.
08:27So, I mean, like, I think she should just keep believing in herself.
08:31You know, she has, she has a great future ahead of her.
08:34And, um, yeah, I mean, I think maybe I'll see her again in the, this, this week or something, but I'm sure I'll have a couple of words with her too.
08:42And, uh, I really hope the best for her.
08:44She's a very nice girl.
08:46Any more questions?
08:48Hi again.
08:54Uh, do you, uh, what you, in the former press conference, you talked about, uh, your relationship with Bianca Andreescu.
09:01Do you also talk with Gabrielle Diallo, who is in the main draw here?
09:06And does he give you some advice as well?
09:10Yeah, um, Gabrielle, I mean, we see each other kind of a little bit when we go back to Montreal and we don't have tournaments.
09:17And we happen to be at the center at the same time, but he's very, he's really nice.
09:23And, you know, every time I see him, he's always, always congratulating me a little bit of what I had done and sometimes vice versa the same.
09:31But, um, yeah, I mean, I feel like we haven't really talked about that stuff as much.
09:39I feel like we talk about everything else, but that, but I mean, I'm really happy for him.
09:44And it's really nice to have him around too as like another Canadian who's playing in the main draw.
09:50So, I mean, yeah, I wish all the best for him and, uh, yeah, it'd be nice to see him go far as well.
