Poland's presidential candidates Trzaskowski and Nawrocki hold their final campaign rallies

Polls will open on Sunday in a presidential election that will have major consequences for the future of the Polish government. Warsaw's liberal mayor Rafal Trzaskowski and national conservative historian Karol Nawrocki are running neck and neck, according to opinion polls.

00:00Poland's two presidential candidates held their last election campaigns on
00:06Friday ahead of a runoff vote on Sunday. It will follow a first round in which
00:13Warsaw Mayor Rafael Cieskowski won more than 31% of the vote and conservative
00:19historian Karol Nowroski earned almost 30%. Cieskowski appealed directly to
00:26voters' sense of urgency, telling them that a few steps to the polling stations
00:30could make a milestone towards realizing the country's aspirations. In his closing
00:36address, Nowroski presented himself as a candidate who is simply one of you. He
00:43described himself as a citizen of the Polish state who has come a long way. Under
00:48Polish law, all campaigning and political advertising must cease at midnight. No
00:55public comment is allowed until polls close on Sunday.
