00:00It's one of my favorite sayings when it relates to sports, which is to the victor go the spoils.
00:06It is also true of politics, which is why President Trump's pardon of Todd and Julie
00:12Chrisley really shouldn't surprise anyone.
00:16We know that that their daughter Savannah was out there campaigning for him.
00:22She spoke at the RNC.
00:24And so from that moment on, we should have known that if he were to win the election,
00:30that he was going to pardon them.
00:31There was something unusual about this.
00:33This is the part that you should be shocked and maybe even a little pissed off about.
00:40So presidents have an absolute right to pardon.
00:43And we've seen it with Biden pardoning his son.
00:48We've seen it with Bill Clinton.
00:49We've seen it with all of them.
00:50Every single president makes a pardon.
00:52And a lot of it is a mask for loyalty.
00:56But in this case, it's just out in the open.
01:00That when the Chrisley's daughter filed the petition with Trump, she didn't talk about the trial or the charges.
01:09That they had been done wrong during the trial.
01:11What she talked about was, I spoke at the convention.
01:14I did this for you.
01:15I did that for you.
01:17I mean, she spoke Trump's language.
01:19That's very transactional.
01:21Right.
01:21And it worked.
01:22And it worked.
01:23So the pardon is the pardon.
01:26That means they're going to go free.
01:28As Charles said, they may be free right now.
01:30The more interesting thing to me is they had to pay $17 million plus in restitution.
01:38Now, we're not sure how much of that they've actually paid.
01:41They've paid some.
01:41We don't know the amount.
01:43Right.
01:43So there are two elements here.
01:45As for what they have not paid, they don't have to pay it.
01:49So if they only paid $2 million, the other $15 million goes away.
01:53They don't have to pay it.
01:54As for the amount they actually paid, if the president says that that should go back to them,
02:03the government can sue or they can sue their victims to return the money to them even though they are victims that a jury said were victims
02:16and got money that they may have already spent or invested, but they have to somehow come up with it and pay them back.
02:23And in the wire fraud, the victims would be certain banks.
02:28The tax evasion, well, you know who the victims are there.
02:32Yes, you too.
02:34Taxpayers.
02:35So we don't know yet.
02:37We have not seen the actual pardon documents.
02:39So we don't know the specifics of what President Trump is ordering with this pardon.
02:44But, wow, if that happens and they end up getting all the money back, you just got to.
02:50Unbelievable.
02:50That would annoy a lot of people.
