00:00
So this week, Memorial Tournament, really, really cool storyline here
00:06
when you're looking at that Aeon Swing 5, Aeon Next 10.
00:10
Third, finishing solo third this week, Bud Cawley at 9-under.
00:13
And it was, I believe, seven years ago this week
00:15
when Bud had that car accident at Memorial that derailed his career.
00:18
That's right.
00:18
And now he is 35 years old, had that medical extension.
00:25
This week, with that third-place finish, he moves 14 spots up to 36 in the FedEx Cup,
00:29
now in the Memorial Tournament.
00:32
I just don't really have a great specific prompt for you other than how cool is this?
00:37
I mean, just Bud's season and just the way he's playing
00:39
and a guy that could easily just hang it up
00:42
and not have to go through all the hardship and grind of working back through injuries.
00:45
But here he is in line to make it to the Tour Championship
00:48
and playing the Memorial this week.
00:49
Oh, it's awesome, man.
00:50
Bud, he's been a good friend for a long time.
00:53
So to know what he's been through
00:56
and obviously not to be seeing it day after day of how difficult it was.
01:01
And, you know, this is a guy that was considering getting out of professional golf
01:06
not too long ago and getting a job.
01:09
This is to transition now from Ben Griffin to Bud Cawley.
01:12
For two guys that have, you know, seen how difficult life can be
01:18
when either you're not healthy, you're not having the opportunities,
01:22
but when, you know, things start to go your way,
01:25
you can see a bend, you know, parlayed this thing
01:28
and do, you know, an incredible PGA Tour career thus far
01:32
with a couple wins and Bud Cawley.
01:35
Gosh, 36, that's awesome, man.
01:37
It's just so good to see and I couldn't be more proud of him.
01:41
So I'm excited.
01:42
And also, I did say he was going to play well this week,
01:45
if you recall, in our one and don'ts.
01:47
You did indeed.
01:47
You called that.
01:48
You were one of the guys that you liked.
01:50
I should have used him.
01:52
It would have been nice.
01:54
I mean, I forget now.
01:56
Who'd you use?
01:56
I use Harris.
01:57
He finished like 50th.
01:58
Yeah.
01:59
Eight points.
02:00
I think you used Postman, didn't you?
02:02
I did use Postman.
02:03
Yeah.
02:04
I'm not sure how he played.
02:05
He made the cut, but I think he was like top 20, top 25-ish.
02:08
I need a little bit more.
02:09
It's the same thing as you said about these guys in the Ryder Cup.
02:12
I need a little bit more than a made cut at this point in the year for what I'm done.
02:15
I need guys who are top 10-ing, top 5-ing, winning, things of that nature.
02:20
Yeah.
02:20
I mean, I think.
02:21
And then, you know, we've talked about this a lot in a larger context.
02:24
But in the structure of the way this tour works, a guy that's sitting there at 36 and now he's
02:30
in a signature event where, and I believe, you know, obviously this is one of the signature
02:34
events that has a cut, because it's, you know, Jax has a cut, it's API, and it's Genesis.
02:41
Which I love.
02:42
Which I love, too.
02:43
But, you know, it's a cut for less players.
02:46
So, he's got a good chance of making it to the weekend and then getting much more points
02:50
relative to a regular PGA Tour event to solidify that status and move in the top 30.
02:56
So, it's huge for him.
02:57
Really, really good story.
02:58
Well, I guess, I know you kind of transitioned to the Memorial, and we could continue to talk
03:04
about it, too.
03:05
And, I guess, four players that we just briefly talked about.
03:11
I'm just looking at the FedEx Cup, because I was just curious, after you said Bud Colley,
03:14
I wanted to check it out.
03:16
Dude, Ben Griffin's all the way up to fifth in the FedEx Cup, and Novak is sixth.
03:22
That's also a telling sign for me.
03:25
When you see a player that high up in the season-long rankings, let's say they both, Novak
03:32
and J.J. Spahn was the other guy.
03:34
He's 12th.
03:35
I know he got a lot of points for the players, but Harris English is 11th.
03:39
Mavericks, 15th.
03:40
Berger is 16th.
03:42
I mean, is Keegan, I know I'm going back to this, but is Keegan just going to take the
03:47
guys who've been playing really good this year?
03:50
Well, and maybe this is being too sort of arbitrary or nitpicky, but I'm more inclined
03:57
to go with the guys on that list that have played good and won than just the guys that
04:02
have played good.
04:04
Just because...
04:05
You need to see J.J. win.
04:07
I need to see J.J. win.
04:08
I'd love to see Daniel Berger win.
04:10
Yeah.
04:11
And I'm not saying that I'm ruling them out if they don't win, but I'm just saying I'm
04:16
a lot closer to...
04:17
I mean, shoot, you know...
04:18
Do you think a win for J.J. and Daniel Berger?
04:21
If either one of those guys win, are they locked, do you think?
04:23
I think they're close to.
04:25
Maybe even qualified at this point, given where they are.
04:27
I mean, they're top 12.
04:29
I guess I thought Berger is...
04:32
Berger is 14, and Spahn's 11.
04:34
So yeah, I mean, they maybe have to do a little...
04:36
It also depends on the event.
04:37
If you tell me one of those guys goes out and wins...
04:39
Oh, if they win a major, they're in.
04:41
If they win a major, they're a lock.
04:42
But if they win a memorial this weekend, okay, yeah, that matters to me a lot more than
04:45
like if they go play in John Deere this summer.
04:47
Yeah.
